Thanks so much for sharing those samples hardyb! Where is the 3rd sample from? That script is gorgeous, and so unique.

Today I ended up starting a big database project for our TV archivist, but I did see some handwriting scans in there to upload on Friday.

The third sample is a letter written by Vincent Van Gogh. If you like it, you can get a free version of the font at the site below plus some other cool resources:

The fourth is a hand lettered certificate from the Zanerian College of Penmanship in Columbus, Ohio. See the site below for more information. Don't miss the video included.

The 3rd looks like a letter in French written from one artist to another describing the colours and countryside during some summer travel.

The handwriting is a bit like la ronde I would guess from 19th century. It could be a van Gogh??

Here's a smaller one to start the day off, I like the uncrossed t's. This is from 1940: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8540/8677669065_b8132a7ef1_b.jpg

Here's one I scanned on Wednesday, from 1945:

Interesting. I guess, as pen users, we may forget how widespread the daily use of pencil once was. Pencil is far less commonly used now, I think.

Sincerely, beak.

The crossed writing letter is very interesting, one I have never seen before. It would seem to only work will with a fine tipped nib, and good penmanship. Fascinating!
