Alternative Ink Cartridge To Pilot Parallel Pen?

Is there any downside to continue using the supplied cartridge and refilling it.

Not that I can think of, if the actual procedure doesn't bother you. I don't do it myself because I have more Pilot (CON-B, CON-20, CON-40, CON-50 and the incompatible-with-Parallel-pens CON-70) converters than I care to count, and I prefer not to have to use a syringe or pipette to refill a pen, and end up with yet another piece of equipment to flush and clean. If you have a reason to prefer reusing an empty cartridge instead of a proper/proprietary Pilot converter that will fit inside a Parallel pen, then by all means go for it.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I'm one of those who prefers refilling cartridges, and what I like about the Pilot cartridges is the little lid. I remove the lid before using the cartridge (cos sometimes the lid rotates and blocks ink flow), and I'll refill a few cartridges and use the lid to seal them. I use the mouth end of a Platinum cartridge to tamp the lid of Pilot cartridge down. It's the perfect size and depth for this task. This means I can carry refills of my favorite ink rather than a vial and syringe when I'm, say, on a trip.

To be fairly honest, I actually love that part of the process!

I use the pen to write and just practice, so I generally don't bother flushing it more than a couple of times. And since the FP inks I have are the no-nonsense kinds (Waterman, Pilot, Pelikan), I will probably continue with this procedure for some more time.

In time, I will definitely pick up a Con-50 because currently I only have Con-70.
