Nussbaum Pen Company "jon Ross Black Cherry"

The “Jon Ross Red Rings” by Nussbaum is a great fountain pen. It compares to the high-end Kaweco Dia2 in materials and quality construction. I enjoyed the transaction with Todd at iSellPens, and received the pen on time within a thin leather sleeve. It comes with a nice Schmidt convertor, which holds a large quantity of ink. The pen fits and balances well in my man’s medium size hand, whether capped or uncapped. The medium weight does not tend to force the steel nib, but allows it to write with ease. The sales price makes it well worth a purchase. Merry Christmas & Best Writings To You, coffeetoofull

I just received the Nussbaum Phoenix in "Cracked Ice" and am far more than pleased. After my experience with my friends Nussbaum Jon Ross (comparison to the Kaweco Dia2 above) I was expecting an excellent pen and was not disappointed. For the amazingly low price of $65 you get a beautiful and very well made pen with a #6 JoWo nib and Schmidt converter with gold colored furnishings. This pen is also available from Franklin-Christoph as their Piper Classic Rock in white, black and cracked ice with chrome furnishings for $97 or as a ballpoint for $57. I personally find that the F-C chrome version suits the grey "Cracked Ice" acrylic better, but whether it warrants the $32 difference in price is up to you. I think that the cap and barrel jewels on the "Cracked Ice" versions of the pen would be more attractive in solid black, but that's a minor aesthetic quibble.

I don't know of a better pen for $65-97 than this. The steel German JoWo nibs are always good from my experience and the fit and finish of this pen is exemplary. The quality of the translucent acrylic is excellent for a pen for less than $100. I don't see how you can go wrong with this pen from either supplier. Highly recommended.
