A post to share that some of my favourite pens arrived back from a visit to Maxpens. :cloud9: A big thank you to Horst for doing an excellent job. The pens that received service / repairs are:

green striated 144 that belonged to my great grandfather and that my father gave me recently (new cork, fixate cap bands, polishing, nib and feed cleaning)

1950's 149 with a flexible EF nib (my favourite daily writer): new cork, adjustment of the barrel (a fellow FPN member sold me this pen without mentioning that the barrel was a bit 'banana-shaped' :gaah: ; its now straight thanks to Horst), nib and feed adjustment

Hemingway ballpoint: new grip section

And finally (a bit off topic...); a silver 'snake clip' to solve the reoccurring problem of Visconti's beautiful Voyager Anniversary celluloid 'eating' the less 'noble' steel spring clip.... Nice match to my Agatha (that brings it back to MB-tipic).

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

If I were to collect vintage pens I think a green or gray striated would be very high up on my list. Very nice pen.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you take the Hemingway to Montblanc for repair?

Reason for not sending in via a MB dealer is that I have very mixed experiences with official dealers. Have sent in a couple of pens over the years (nib replacement, an odd repair etc.) and in a few occassions MB couldn't fix the issue that others (in the case of a Proust for example FPN member Eckiethump) could. Also, my local boutique has zero knowledgeble staff and is not serviceminded at all. It takes an eternity to send a pen in from my tropical part of the world. Happy I sent it to Horst who was able to replace the section.

fantastic collection

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
