How To Make A Wax Seal With Epoxy

This is so fantastic. I absolutely *love* it. What I like the most about it is what some might think a flaw - the fact it doesn't lead to too-neat images, but gives this slightly beaten-down, antique look to the finished image: I had a design I wanted to make into a wax seal, but it was a simple, linear logo - a set of initials really - and when I got it made, it was just too neat and tidy and looked boring. This method would not only save me money when trying again, but would help me get the look I'd wanted. In short, I am so squeeing over this, it's not even funny :P

*squeeeee*

hehe

Will post when I have had a chance to try. Seriously, thanks for posting it.

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Thanks for your kind words, but this is no calligraphy, I'm not able to do something what deserves to be named as calligraphic, it's only my approach to write for other persons readable, as good as I can..

No I meant a different video, I know the reform pen, but have none, I did not consider it as a very interesting pen.

I'm quite surprized that you can squeeze some line variation out of the Reform.

Your vintage Tortoise performs great, is it a F nib?

I own a 400NN Tortoise which I like very much.

I meant this one, is it the same pen?

Your collection as shown on your site is quite impressive. :-)

Great idea! I may well have to look into that...

As for using Fimo/polymer clay, I've done that in the past. It works fairly well, at least for while. If you have a design you wan to try out before attempting a more long-lasting version, fimo is a great choice.

I also try fimo, although the epoxy is easier to encotrar, for example in a hardware.

thanks for reading

Hi every one!!!!! I'm bernabe from Spain and this is my contribution, sorry y horrible English:

How to make a wax seal with Epoxy

In this simple tutorial, I show you how I created a custom wax seal, without much financial outlay.

How to make your own custom sealing wax

I first tried to do this with wax seal wood.

Lacre002.jpg

Lacre010.jpg

The results were not all bad, but I was very complicated and burn me twice.

I decided to find an easier way to craft a seal wax.

MATERIALS:

For the development of our own custom wax seal, we will need:

 • Bottle stoppers or similar containers (depending on the diameter we want).
 • 2B graphite pencil (HB can be if you do not have, but the more B is softer the graphite and is to be transferred better design our logo).
 • Epoxy Putty. Did not know what the Epoxy? . (in the "Chinese" from 1 € I've seen).
 • Gloves (The manufacturer's recommended epoxy putty to avoid "allergies", I have not used to be very difficult to handle, i finish washed my hands and I have not noticed, but then it will go with every skin type, however is not corrosive, do not worry).

lacre018.jpg

We will choose the image, logo or whatever we want to capture in the wax seal (Start with something simple, practice makes perfect).'ve Done in this tutorials are letter A with some ornamentation.

1. Drawn with pencil on paper, respecting margins diameter plug that we use. The image is drawn as it would on paper.

lacre014.jpg

2. Together the two parts of the epoxy and knead until no streaks.

Lacre001.jpg

3. We introduce into the cap and smoothed until it is flush can help plug a flat surface, pressing and cutting off excess.

Lacre009.jpg

4. We put our cap with epoxy putty mixed up our "logo" and exert a little pressure.

lacre016.jpg

5. The image has been transferred to the epoxy and will serve as a guide.

lacre015.jpg

6. Let "drawing" with pencil above our logo exerting little pressure gradually until the desired depth.

Lacre008.jpg

Tip: Let dry a little dough will be very soft as to draw the attention up, will sink easily and deformed like a gum. But do not expect much, it dries very quickly.

Tip: dip your pen with water.

7. Little by little we will be applying more force, since the mass will harden over time and asking for "smoothing" better with our pencil.

(You can use whatever you want for this process, I use pencil for highlighting what I'm drawing in black. Could be a tip of a nail, a wooden stick .... etc).

Lacre006.jpg

8. And expect it to dry completely. And we will have our seal stamp over. It only remains to prove it.

Really the next step is not necessary!!!!!

I recommend it (although not necessary) before putting the wax seal over pass this by a napkin or paper with a little bit of vegetable oil, not much, not necessary that this super anointed. With a light coating will prevent the wax from sticking to the seal and remain on paper if the tire tread we have chosen is very fine.

Lacre005.jpg

Lacre004.jpg

9. And already you have received your wax seal.

Lacre003.jpg

And other labels that I've done:

lacre020.jpg

lacre019.jpg

As I said before "with practice makes perfect". Every time you come out better, caulk is cheap and the same package out various labels. You can easily find this epoxy putty as they are fairly famous with epoxy resin market going huge

It is just your imagination, and desire to do so, and of course letters and envelopes that seal.

Write it has been said, and you have no excuse not to decorate your personal mail.

A hug and hope that at least I have entertained this tutorial.

You can see more tutorial in http://fountainpenland.blogspot.com.es/

I have tried this with so many DIYs on youtube. I think from all of those that I have tried till date, this is the easiest one. The easier one that I tried was with polymer clay. I found this on wikihow.

The method was taking the polymer clay and rolling it to give it a proper shape with a base and a handle to hold. After that the same way you did, I drew something on the base end of it (it was a House Stark sigil which turned out to look really bad cause my drawing isn't that great). I then baked the polymer clay/ stamp at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 30 minutes and then let it cool later. They also asked me to rub some sandpaper over it to give my design better (didn't really help honestly). There you have your rubber stamp

The process of making your wax was a messy one. I melted some candles over a plastic sheet and to get some fancy colour to it I mixed some crayons into it. I mixed it pretty well so that it wasn't lumpy and then poured it over the letter I wanted to send to my friend (turned again into a messy thing). I was also instructed to dampen the stamp and then tada.... I had a wax seal with a Stark sigil which was just ugly but ok. This took me a lot of effort. But then I was excited about wax seals and had to do it. I will totally try your method too. Thanks for sharing it.

I like the epoxy stamps you made, and they look easier to make that some other methods. I was looking for a way to make similar-sized embossing seals for decorating paper, and I think this would work for that too. I'm glad I found your post, even though it is from five years ago. Somehow I missed it the last time I searched.
