What Is The Best Parker-Style Rollerball Refill?

I found an old Parker Vector rollerball at the bottom of a desk drawer in my parents' house – the original refill is all dried up. I think it's quite a nice pen. What best to replace the refill with?

For all my Parker ball points (including a1954 Jotter) and other ball points that take Parker-style refills I've switched to Parker .7 gel refills. I find the writing experience with the gel far superior to that with the regular ball point refill; also, the gel is less expensive than the ball point. I don't know if the gel refills will fit a Vector roller ball, but it's worth investigating.

The two listed by usk are the obvious choices. I found myself dismayed by the price of those refills, so I adapted the Pilot G2 refill to work. They write well and are cheaper than the Parker refills.

If you wish to do the same, follow these steps:

Take the spring out of any click ballpoint you don't wish to use anymore by disassembling it. Open the Parker rollerball and drop the spring into the barrel with the refill taken out.

Take a Pilot g2 gel refill. Put tape around the part of the refill where the pen transitions into the metal part that has the rollerball on it. (sorry if this isn't clear, I don't really know what to call it.)

Next, insert the g2 refill into the barrel of the pen, being certain to keep it on top of the spring. Then screw the pen back together.

I use g2 refills because they are closed at the end so the spring won't go inside of them. They are also much cheaper than the Parkers.

If you have trouble with this, feel free to PM me.

Sound interesting! Can you upload any photo for a better description?

I’m not clear about the tape part...
