Difference Between Sailor Professional Gear Sapporo And Sailor Sapporo

Dear FP aficionados,

I am planning to purchase a Sailor FP .Request to help me out .

What's the difference between SAILOR PROFESSIONAL GEAR SAPPORO and Sailor Sapporo.

There is a price difference of 35 USD among this two FP's.

Which one is better out of two and which one i should go for?

available colour options are Tuscan Red ,Black and Silver.

i normally prefer M nib and would like to go for the same in Sailor too.

The Sapporo is the same as the Professional Gear Slim, so a Professional Gear Sapporo must be the seller's name for the same pen. So get the cheaper one.

 

The 'normal' Professional Gear is twice the price in the UK and not that much larger, according to TWD.

Will go for the cheaper one.i have attached the picture.Professional gear is 180 USD while the normal saporo is 150 USD.

If you can get the model numbers from the seller you could check them on Sailor's web site don't click on the English button on top—that will take you to the UK distributor's website, instead use Google translate to navigate the Sailor site, unless you can read Japanese that is. There seems to be a lot of inconsistency in how Sailor products are named outside of their home market and there are some, usually Japan market only variants, like 21K nibbed standard size 1911 Profit models that sometimes pop up abroad.

Remember that a medium Sailor nib will be equivalent to a fine western nib. Japanese nibs are generally one size smaller than their western counterparts.

There is no real Sapporo. The photo you have is model 11-1222, known as Professional Gear slim. And it is called Dark Framboise, not Tuscanny Red and there is no silver Sapporo. Your seller may not know the brand well. I would try to get the model numbers from him/her if possible. I have no idea why there is a price difference between the pens.

The Sapporo is the name Sailor used to market the Professional Gear Slim in the USA. It is shorter and thinner than the full sized Professional Gear. I have both as well as the cartridge-only Professional Gear Slim Mini (aka Sapporo Miniin the US). Unless you enjoy slim pens, I'd stick with the full sized Professional Gear.
