Hi-

How many MB repair levels are there? Flat rate $ prices for each are...?

Are there three levels? Nib; clip; body (= everything else)?

Thx,

Steve

I could be wrong but most of the time MB repair center in Texas replaces everything except the nib. They charge $70 plus shipping and tax so the total is $86.30 Their standard protocol is to swap out the nib. This ensures there would be no problem down the road. I have sent in numerous pens to Texas repair center and every single time they replaced everything. In case if you are thinking of just sending the nib to repair center, that will not work. You must prove that you had a whole pen that was damaged(i.e. broken parts).

There are 3 flat rate service levels. The first level costs $80 and replaces all of the piston parts, feed and feeder case, plus if there are any damaged body parts they will be replaced too.

Level 2 service would replace everything including the clip but not the nib, and level 3 replaces everything including the nib. I don't know the US prices for those levels.

I have never paid more than level 2 price and my pens come back like new ones. The only things they don't come back with are new clips or nibs.

I just packaged my 149 today to send off to the Texas repair center. The comments above about price levels seem rather accurate according to what the customer service reps told me over the phone.

Let's see, from experience...

I've paid $50 to about $450 to MB for repairs.

For $200 they fixed up a used 149 that I purchased for the same amount on ebay. Very pleased.

The top shelf price was replacing the barrel and other adjustments when a bookshelf collapsed and snapped my POE LE in half.

Yo!

I took my 149 in for a service just before christmas. The fella said it would cost 60 notes at the time, but they only billed me 40 (well, 39). My invoice says:

Flat-Rate 1 * 1 - 39.00

and they replaced:

Feeder case

ink feeder

Spiral piston

Piston

I was gonna pop back in to the shop but got lazy, so they sent it to me special delivery for no charge. they also threw in a nice box for it because I'd lost mine.

All figures GBP inc. VAT

HTH :)

Hi all,

Sorry to revive a old thread but this was the most relevant.

I am interested to hear what the current service level prices are compared to Australia.

i enquired today at the MB store for a 149.

Service level 1 was AUD$115

Service level 2 was AUD$175

Service level 3 was AUD$575 (includes entire nib replacement).

This sounds a lot more expensive compared to what I have been reading here paid in the US.

They also said service for my 146 Solitaire Stainless Steel would be more and they would need to quote separately.

Anybody aware of current prices for a comparison?

Thanks.

The UK price for level 1 is still GB£60 and level 2 is GB£90 I believe. I always thought level 2 was what was used if a new cap and clip was needed, but recently I have been made aware that may not be the case.

Level 3 is if it needs a new nib so that's somewhere in the region of GB£250

Thanks Chrissy!

It confirms that service charges in Australia are more than elsewhere. Very sad! :-(

Apologies digging old thread. Anyone knows the case of prices and lead time in Singapore? It seems nib replacement and services needs to be sent to Hamburg with around 3 week lead time.
