Eclipse Desk Set

I ran across this guy at an antique store. I found a nice review article and photo in Penworld July and September 2006 on the Eclipse Pen Company by John Roede.

It's quite a piece you have there. I've no idea about value, but it's very beautiful.

Nice looking pen. What's the nib like?

The original nib was a 14 k Warranted nib and trashed. I replaced it with a 14 k warranted #4.

I have the feeling these were mostly made and sold in Canada. I have had an Eclipse desk pen for many years and found the base you show out of Canada. My pen actually has a green taper and I found a better set to match except for a cigarette burn on it. I'd say these are worth $20-25.

Derp, figures. I was going to say that it looked a lot like something from a 19th century letter which is the style I want to master, figures it is from the nineteenth century...
