+1 on Lamy CP1. I have both styles in current production, a matte-black barrel with a steel nib, and the GORGEOUS platinum edition with a 14k nib. Both are very reliable writers, write very thin on gooo enough paper, and if paper is porous, can be flipped to write a very fine "upside-down" line.

I have recently bought 4 Waterman Forum pens new from someone who seems to have stock of almost every variant. I have the solid colour metal body ones with black clip. At £9 each they were amazing value. They are about the thickness of a coloured pencil, have a fine gold plated Waterman nib and write very well. I like fine nibs so they suit me well. Mine are all cartridge but I'm sure they'll take an appropriate converter. They also have a rather nice textured grip which helps stability considering they are so thin. Check out ebay UK as the guy who sold me mine has a few on there at the moment. If you can't find him, and, are interested, let me know and I'll try to send you a link.

Hi,

The Pilot Cavalier is also an excellent choice. So is the Aurora Hastil or Magellano.

I just received a Parker Jotter. Uses converter or cartridge, Light and very smooth. Just a suggestion!

I have small hands and I've been very happy with a Baoer 801, which is quite slim. Being Chinese, it has a very fine nib compared to a European F, for the purpose of writing characters.

It has a metal body so feels substantial, and comes with a piston converter, and also holds long international cartridges like Pelikan or Waterman.

They cost about $7.50 on eBay from a reputable seller like share.enjoy.

The chinese Hero 233, 'accountants pen' with extra fine nib. Comes with a converter and are very cheap, around 5$ only, and works very well.

In your judgment, what is the best fountain pen that:

-is skinny. I am thinking of a grip section that is the same diameter or as a typical wood-case pencil or if there is no such thing, something only slightly fatter.

-is Not disposable

-has a rather fine nib, something that will let me write small in a calendar book that has thick pages that tends to make a fountain pen come out bolder than some papers

-can be filled with bottled ink.

-is perhaps lightweight.

-and I think longer in length, close to 6 inches or more, makes for a more elegant pen, but if you know a good pen that is shorter, feel free to mention it. Right now my only pen is a Ohto F-Lapa fountain pen that cost me $16.50 US dollars and claims to have a fine nib but writes slightly too boldly for the calendar book I have.

Sailor Chalana is the skinniest pen I have come across. It has a tiny plunger convertor.

What about the Cross Spire...thin like a pen. Good quality build.

Waterman Préface is an amazing pen, one of the best rigid nib on the market, the Fine is a true fine - the Pilot Murex is awsome. Both are out of production.

I rather enjoy using the Picasso 608 very high quality for about 15USD. Or perhaps an old Onoto...or a Franklin-Christoph M27 Collegia at approx. 70USD.

Another option would be the Parker 180. They come up on eBay from time to time, often in the sub-$100 range. The nib design is rather "severe", but it offered two nib widths in one (by turning the nib 180 degrees).

+1 for the Sailor Chalana. Not only is it one of the thinnest and most elegant options with a dedicated converter but it also comes with an XF nib by default. Considering that standard Sailor nibs are typically a size smaller than their Western counterparts, you shall be getting a Western XXF nib, which may serve you well if you have small script or often write on papier not friendly to fountain pens.

I have two slim Targas, but only one converter; I am saving up for more

But then Wing Sung made a slim one too, the 238 I think.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.
