Cursive In Schools

I didn't learn Cursive until 3rd or 4th grade. Glad I'm back to it now!!

My Niece lives in Toronto and visited last month. I was surprised to see that she writes cursive already. I have been writing her in italic because I didn't know she could read cursive. So they do still teach it. But then what? They get phones and start texting. They get laptops and start doing their homework. I know a teacher that insists, "Grownups type." Another teacher had us email our homework to him. The future of handwriting does not look promising. But for the time being, a piece of paper is still more interactive than an electronic tablet according to a college class that recently tried using them.

I am glad your son is having such fun. My son is in second grade and learning cursive. In Kindergarten and first grade, he always complained about his printing writing assignments. But now with his cursive assignments, he loves to write. Needless to say, he has a Lamy School pen to use now.
