That is super cool!

Do you have a picture of a pen that arrived today?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Splendid photograph.

I once had a Swan eye-dropper that had a broken overfeed.  I removed it and the pen wrote very nicely!

That is a gorgeous stub!!!   My assumption of the overfeed is to help with ink flow?  I recently became an owner of a Swan eyedropper.   However the nib on mine is not a broad point.  😞

You cannot go wrong with a Swan!

(Unless you buy a Visofil VT model that doesn't work!!)

You have perhaps seen the original-type vulcanite overfeed on early pens?  I've attached a snap of an early Onoto with a stub (to keep it appropriate).

I cannot pretend to understand to thinking behind overfeeds, but they were pretty standard on many pens well into the teens of the 20th century

where did you buy the Hero pens with stub nibs?

Amazon. Did I mention that it took 3 months to get here?

Why, yes you did! I was going to ask where you got them to avoid a similar experience... but I suppose that means it matters who the seller was.

I saw some comments here about stubby nibs and thought I’d show a pic of an old Waterman’s No. 12  I picked up years ago - the “stubbiest” nib I’ve ever seen:

I'm glad to see some folks tuned in, and now here is one of my go-to pens:

Bexley Poseidon Magnum

The main feature of this lovely instrument is the nib - a stock Bexley 18k Stub nib made by Bock, unmodified but as sweet a writer as one could ever hope for. It is smooth, butter smooth, and yet there is enough ooomph left in the corners of the nib that it provides great line variation. The converter allows me enough ink to enjoy using this pen for several pages of writing, but with the wet line laid down by this wide nib I won't stray far from my ink source, especially if I'm sitting down for an afternoon of writing (which actually never happens, so no worries).

fpn_1359054538__bexley_poseidon_magnum_5

And the nib:

fpn_1359055065__bexley_poseidon_magnum_1
fpn_1359055088__bexley_poseidon_magnum_2

So, I have gone back to 2013 to show you what this nib should have looked like.

I was inspired and I found a pen  with the same nib.

Unfortunately, my nib was sprung.  BUT @Ron Z assures me it is an easy fix.

S20220328_004.jpg.9d6a91e0ee2933ca80f1b9617afda47c.jpg

The pen is the MOST amazing shade of NEON ORANGE you have ever seen.

This pen is the 2010 Owner's Club 38/117.

2022-03-28_00003.thumb.jpg.42411e5748c59c592f5331dbb07fada5.jpg

Until I get the nib fixed, I have inserted a Toledo 1.1 and filled it with a Sailor (Bung Box or Kingdom Note) pink ink.

Okay, well really it isn't anything you haven't seen before. The Osprey Madison with a BB Architecture Grind, while I whine about cleaning pens.  What a wonderful first world problem.
