I made a guide sheet for italic practice - 5mm spacing with 5 degree slant lines - nice and dark so it can be seen through a plain sheet.

Can I add it be added to downloads? I'll attempt to put it here... italic_guides_5mm_5degrees.pdf

Kaweco Perkeo 1.5mm stub inked with Kaweco Black.

Lamy Joy 1.5mm with Cult Pens Deep Dark Brown. Another quote from Seneca. Is he right? Or is a shared trouble halved? And an opportunity for kindness as in my previous quote?

I'm not sure - I often think that bemoaning troubles makes the troubled person lighter and less internally troubled though the outside problem remains unchanged.

I got three fountain pens for Christmas. Each have a 1.1mm nib. I also got myself a Monteverde Innova special edition when I was getting one for my brother for Christmas.

Today is a special pen from @FranklinChristoph and @DromgoolesHouston.  It is the Franklin Christoph Model 02 Whiskey River with a 1.1 Stub.

The FC steel nibs have been some of my favorites right out of the box. As of today, I have three FC steel nibs in rotation.  They are a great value. The Whiskey River material is a matte finish and much prettier in person, it has some purple, teal and gold mixed in the with the black. It is sort of a stealthy color.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Nice!

The Model 02 is my F-C favorite of their models because of its ergonomics, and I agree about their nibs. Their Music nib is probably my number 1 favorite for practicing calligraphy. I generally have 2 or 3 pens with F-C Music nibs inked with different colors.

Esterbrook J with a 9314 medium relief stub nib, filled with De Atramentis Oriental Red, an ink that I like better than I used to now that I realize that it is not red.

I really like the F-C Factory 1.1 CC nib. No extra charge for it when buying a pen, and it gives great line variations and character to writing. Great example in your photo of that.  😊

Never mind the pretty pens. The writing samples we're seeing in this thread are something to aspire to. Very encouraging.  And the pen as eye candy works too. B)

Today is a Franklin-Christroph Nagahara Steel Cursive Italic Nib in a Model 31 Italian Ice - the Italian Ice micro-fractures so it really looks like ice, but it lights up under UV light.

I put a new cartridge in my Franklin-Christoph pocket 66 pen. It was a collaboration with The Pen Addict that I won in a drawing from The Well Appointed Desk blog.

@tringle

Technically, this isn't a stub, but it writes a little stubby and a little flexy.  I've wanted one of these since I first saw it in 1993.  It's a green Pelikan 800.

@amberleadavis  what size is your Nagahara cursive italic nib?  I have the Masuyama cursive italic in B. If I were to buy another F-C pen, it would be interesting to get a Nagahara in the same size.
