Stub O' The Day

dcpritch

Recommended Posts

My pen and stub of the week is the Pelikan M600 Turquoise, self grind from original F into stub of 0.5 x 0.3 mm. The line variation is subtle, nevertheless, it adds character to the handwriting.

That's a nice writing, the nib seems to be tuned very well. 🙂

Thanks and best wishes

Here is a Pelikan Level 5 with a custom stub nib and a note to fellow FPNer @Z man.Level5nib.thumb.jpg.f8c26e1367ad94c2b9475e3f81759ea9.jpgPXL_20211206_002110462.thumb.jpg.91d2cfb0d563b13164769c79fc1d6f52.jpg

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That music nib is a nice one, @dms525!

Do I guess right, crisp italic spells: calligraphy only, no handwriting?

I would say mostly  "italic handwriting." I do use this kind of nib for calligraphy also - italic, humanist bookhand, various gothic scripts, uncial, etc.

As part of enjoying the new year, I inked up my stubs. Here are two.  The Franklin Christof Model 65 has a 1.4 nib that is one of the finest out of the box that I have acquired.  Special thanks to @TheGreatRoe for this beauty.

The Pineider La Grande Belleza is the wettest writing pen I own and I only use the driest of inks.

The FC has Diamine Season's Greetings blue inkvent thanks to @webgeckos. The Pineider has Edelstein Aventurine thanks to @DromgoolesHouston.

A page a day of wisdom will be good for more than my italic hand. I'm beginning with Seneca and a Pilot Plumix (with a medium stub nib and Robert Oster Tiverton Rust).

Will work for pens...

OMG @amberleadavis, I did *not* need to see these beautiful Sheaffers. And stubs! I asked @terimonce if there were ever Sheaffer inlaid stubs available, and she said she'd never seen one.

That's an impressive bunch of Sheaffers, AmberLea!

I have a Sheaffer Imperial that came with a broad Italic nib. I had it ground down to a 1.0mm CI, and it writes beautifully.

David, that is a beautiful pen. Of course, your penmanship makes every pen look amazing. Which is your favorite pen under $300?
