Stub O' The Day

Recommended Posts

Leonardo Officina Italiana Momento Zero series, Numbered edition, Positano model with gold-plated steel stub nib

This nib writes very smoothly but is reasonably crisp. It likes inks that are on the wet side and well-lubricated. The writing sample is in Sailor Bung Box Lapis Ocean ink.

I must have had dozens of Croxleys, but this is the only one I have come across with a stub!

OOOOO I LOVE IT

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Some others already have asked but what ink is it? By the way, I'm a great fan of your handwriting.

Tiny Mercedes 65 B...

What a cool pen! I love it!

+1 on that. Can't find anything about it on the web. Starts with the misleading 'Mercedes' of course...

Anyone who can give some clues?

According to this thread: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/220274-mercedes-100m-fp/ Mercedes was founded in 1924 by a former employee of Matador.

I admit it's a lovely pen and for me the best of two worlds: small and piston filling. I bought it several years but left it in a drawer assuming it would need a new piston seal. Only recently I decided to try filling it with water and it just happened to work.

That is the Thompson with the Sailor Music Nib that was stubbed.

Thank you. It is one of my three favorite nibs.

A Sheaffer BB stub on a Legacy Heritage. (I've shown it here before and I love my pusher, David).

An 18k Bock - Bexley Stub (it came with a baby bottom but now is amazing).

And this one on the Thompson.

Unfortunately, the Thompson cracked and broke where the silver clip attaches. I've reglued it, but darn what a disappointment. However, I still love the pen.
