Sorry about the photo quality (cheap Android phone). While I'm in apology mode, I may as well chastise myself for the writing — I just picked up the newly arrived/washed/US bathed pen and filled it before rushing out a message. I blame the excitement. I can see that I need to be more disciplined when using such a broad italic nib.

Cheers,

David.

My first impressions exactly. Have the pen for a month and love it, love it, love it! Enjoy ;)

I have wanted a Parker 45 TX for some time but have been put off by the prices. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw an apparently unrecognised TX languishing in the auction, described merely as a "Parker fountain pen". With 30 seconds to go, it was at £5 but there must have been a lurker who had recognised its true identity because the customary last second flurry pushed my cost up to £39 – still less than I expected to pay. I'm pleased that I had taken the precaution of a generous maximum bid.

The broad left oblique italic "Z" nib was one that I had from a junk-yard purchase of a 45 GT with what the trader told me was a "broken nib". The pen and nib cost £2! The TX had a lovely wet 14K "B" nib (now on the GT). So, 2 fabulous pens with 2 generous nibs for a tad over £40 makes me a happy gasman. I'm having a cognac to celebrate.

Cheers,

David.

I had a Parker 45 with one of those nibs; I sold it and got only £25 - and I wished then that I had kept it! Meanwhile here's an antique Onoto with a sort of stub./italic nib - quite unusual.

Cob that's a great find and Gas-Man, that's a great double find / swapping / pairing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I admire your ability to open up the enclosed portions of letters like "e", "o", and "p", etc., when using such a broad nib. I find it difficult to be sufficiently disciplined, slow, and deliberate in my letter shaping. I know it's just a matter of practice, but I'm not evn disciplined enough to allocate time for that either.

Cheers,

David.

Pelikan 100N, BBB....

Christof, what a great nib on that Pelikan! Is the turning knob a different color or simply faded? Thanks for showing. DAVID

The tines look mis-aligned because they are mis-aligned. Adjustment and tuning are pending.

you bet Dave - that's the Balance II from the 90's - I have won. Medium nib was the standard in that series. Nice nib - still performs even with the miscomings.

I've been a lurker here since I got into fountain pens, and with this post, I finally become a contributor.

The nib is a steel Pelikan BB unit which I've put into an ebonite pen made specially for it. I hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Looks great! Did you make the pen yourself?

Thanks! The pen was made by Subramaniam of ASA, and the nib was ground by a friend :)

Can't get my eyes off this shot.

Very narrow stub. Starting point was Inoxcrom Tiny with “M” nib.

I've went through steps described in Ludwig Tan's tutorial.

Amazing!

Here, a Delta Dolcevita Federico, factory OB nib reground to stub by Pablo Carrasco of FPnibs (no affiliation, just a happy customer):
