I inked this today using Sailor Tanna japonensis:

Delta Nazareth 2000, 18k re-tipped stub by Minuskin

I usually don't go in for fancy limited editions but this one is my favorite size of Delta, and with a Minuskin stub ... well, I was defenseless!

zaddick, I've seen those nibs done by Art but have never tried one - they look pretty sweet!

I usually like to pair inks with the pen's colour ( Visconti Burgundy would be perfect ) but I've dipped this pen in Fire and Ice to check out the shading -- not aptly captured by my iPad camera. Forgot to include the cap in this picture (!) -- I'm a fan of these Visconti clips.

Thanks to you all for your kind comments about my previous posts !

wow that is a neat hand...

love the visconti... how was the nib on this one...

My goodness, there are some sexy pens, nibs and ink in this thread - and I've only read 5 pages! :)

This thread enabled me to purchase assorted stubs & italics, and also to send some of my pens for a regrind. Beware! ;)

Tried my first stub this morning. I picked up a TWSBI Diamond 580 1.1 Stub for my daughter (14) to use. I of course had to clean it and try it out :). This my first TWSBI as well. I did not fill it, but just dipped it but kind of like it, not an everyday nib, but I could see having one for certain times. I did have a bit of starting issues with it, but that could be due to A) dipping it and B) not having cleaned it yet.

Not a stub, but really close ;)

Beautiful scroll design on the nib. On the photo close-up it sure looks stubby, but of course it's what happens on the (bottom) at the writing edge that determines how stubby. Can you send us a writing sample of this attractive B nib?

Sheaffer factory stub in a Targa 1001. Once I adjusted my grip & pen/paper angle, it's writing like a dream:

Wow! If I had not seen your many previous posts I would say you have found the perfect pen for you. regardless, it is clear that this pen is an excellent tool for task when in the hands of a master. You mention adjusting your grip, does that have to do with the shape/size of the section on this pen?

Very nice, Eli! That Sheaffer "stub" seems a lot crisper than the single Sheaffer stub I have, which I had customized to a crisp cursive italic. The Sheaffer stock italic nibs I have had have been super crisp without modification, on the other hand.

First of all, thanks a lot!

Saying I had to adjust my grip and writing angle, I meant only the optimal use of the nib, which is quite crisp but can be butter smooth if properly rotated. No problems with the section - I have similar sections in my Imperial II and Sheaffer/Ranga/PSP ebonite pen, and find them very comfortable.

Thank you David!

I bought this Targa from a fellow FPNer, Tim Ettenheim (tmenyc) who knows a thing or two about pens. He advertised it as a stub. There was a lengthy discussion on Sheaffer stubs* a couple of years ago, and I had to study it once again before pulling a trigger on this Targa. Paid a special attention to this opinion:

(BillLS)Targas did come with 14K stub nibs, I have a couple of them. Unlike the steel nibs from the Targa calligraphy sets, the gold nibs do have tipping. They're more like crisp italics than what most of us think of as stubs, though they came marked with the letter S.

There is slight line variation, not stub-like but fun to write with for sure. And plenty of "meat" on the tip (bottom), even for BBB architects nib :)

P.S. Sorry for the late night picture quality

Here is one of the recent additions. An old-style Paragon from the 90th Anniversary Icon set of 3 pens. The pen is made of the grey pearl celluloid. That's nice and would be enough of a reson to buy the pen, but the nib is the glorious portion of this beast. This is the only modern Omas factory 3B pen they made. There were only 90 sets made so I felt lucky to happen upon an orphaned pen with the only nib I wanted in the set. (Retail was about $3500 on the set. I did not want the nib that bad!)

Check out the tipping on this bad boy. Sorry the lighting was bad the other day when i took these photos.
