This is a Cursive Italic Family Album of sorts. These are all JoWo #6 18 Caret gold nibs which were purchased from fpnibs dot com in Spain. The nibs have all been ground to cursive italic by them. I have installed these nibs in a variety of pens that take JoWo #6 nibs. FYI, the pens in the photos are two Ebonite Ranga pens from Peyton Street Pens and a custom-made pen from Yoshi Nakama (18111 dot com). I am so happy with these nibs, I want to share (and recommend) them to Stub and CI nib lovers of the world. Please note that the handwritten writing sample mistakenly states they are 14 Caret.

I have no affiliation with any of the named vendors other than being a satisfied customer.

Enjoy!

No. That's a B4 nib for the latest "Easy-change" Osmiroid pens. (Discontinued in the late 1970's, I believe.) It does have 3 tines, like many music nibs. I don't know that Osmiroid every made a nib they called a "music nib."

FYI, the Osmiroid B4 nib is 2.5 mm. The other fountain pens that had italic nibs that broad were Platignum (also English) and Reform (German). Pelikan made some calligraphy nibs up to 2.0mm, that I know of. The only currently manufactured fountain pen nibs that comes close, to my knowledge are Kaweco's 2.3 mm italic nib and the 2.3 mm italic nib for the Rotring Art Pen. I guess the Pilot Parallel is technically a fountain pen, and those go up to 6 mm!

David

P.S. If you want to see a Platignum 3-tine italic nib in action, watch some of the Lloyd Reynolds videos on youtube.

Osmiroid did indeed make a music nib as the photo shows. It is, unfortunately, a very scratchy example and I don't trust my nib smoothing abilities !

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present

Very Nice, Eli... please keep that fire starter away from your beautiful journal.

Thanks a lot. I'll follow your advice as soon as I get a bit more appropriate paperweight ;)

My city has one B&M pen vendor, an art supply store that has a "pen counter." They have an annual "Pen Fair" to which distributors of the pens they carry send reps with displays of current models. I went to the Pen Fair this year and talked with Ross Cameron from YAFA. He had this pen. It looked nice and had a bit of a discount. Of course, it was the steel stub nib that made it irresistible. I have liked the steel stubs on Passeportos but never had a Stipula steel nib on a full-sized pen. Turns out it's pretty nice.

The pen is a full-sized (but not "over-sized") Etruria. It is a C/C loader and came with a Stipula converter installed.

Is the .09mm nib stock ss Stipula, or had to be ordered to that form, or custom ground after receiving the pen? István

Really nice! A gorgeous pen. Congrats, David! In your hand, this stub is a stellar performer.

Here, a new ink in a (relatively) new pen:

The paper is Journalbooks, not exactly fountain-pen friendly, but I'm greedy - instead of giving it away, I use this little notebook as my ink log.

The nib is a stock Stipula nib. No special grinding.

Thanks, Eli!

Those pilot steel stubs are pretty amazing.
