Nice? NICE?!!! That's not just nice, its amazing! From what I can tell the FS3 nibs are exceedingly hard to come by. Way to go Brian!

I love this thread.

You guys made me order a JoWo #5 1.1 mm nib.

Any idea if it is an italic or a stub?

It's somewhere in between. What some people call a cursive italic. Similar to a Lamy Safari/Al-Star/etc. 1.1, at least in my experience.

Thanks to all who continue to post such wonderful photos. Tomorrow, I hope I will have time to try out several pens I just got back from Pendleton Brown; with any luck I will get some photos I can post.

I just realized its been a while since I posted anything here, though I continue to use stubs every day. Here's a nifty pen I bought several years ago, reminded today by gawain3 how wonderful Sailors are:

Sailor Naginata Togi Ribbed, 21k Music/Stub by Minuskin

This pen is the same size as Sailor's 1911 Large. Only 25 of these were made in canary yellow, a special run introduced by Sailor at the 2009 Atlanta Pen Show and sold out by show's end. This pen is not injection molded but turned on a lathe, part of Sailor's Bespoke collection. Greg Minuskin took the stock Sailor 21k music nib and made it sing - a fantastic nib with wonderful line variation.

My latest stub acquisition - a flexible one. It's actually a bit crisper of a cut, like an italic, but it is labeled as a stub.

This picture makes me super envious every time I see it. Thanks for posting it though, so I can drool some more! :D

I have an M800 fine nib. Is there anything that can give it some character other than making it into an XF, or is there not enough material to work with? Who might you suggest to do the work?

You could have it made into a stub. There are quite a few people who do this work. I don't know one to recommend over another.

Thanks for that. It's great what's the grind and who did it?
