I just found this topic, and I am drooling all over my desk!

Does this mean you've converted to stubs?! :D

Bronze, is that a plain-jane nib smoothed to a stub, or something different? Either way, it writes great! I once had a TWSBI 530 and put in a generic 14k nib that I'd had Pendleton Brown make into a stub. It was a fabulous combination. The cool thing about TWSBI pens is that they so easily accomodate different nibs with almost no need to adjust the feed (at least in my experience). Below are some (bad) pics of the stub nib I put into a 530:

The markings etc. on the nib you posted look exactly like mine. I did a bit of digging and it appears I got this nib from thegoldennib.com. It came as a 1.1 stub/italic. I did some tweaking to it (smoothing and some slight sharpening), but 90% of the line it puts down now was there when I got it. I see it's still available from their site, although a bit more expensive than when I got it. Certainly one of the better nibs I've tried. This combination feels rather incredible to be honest, and for the money it's hard to beat :) As you say, I never did any work on the feed, it worked great without any adjustments. Compared to how this pen wrote with the original nib (a medium I believe) it's night and day. From a generic, rather dry line to one of the smoothest and juiciest nibs I'v ever tried.

Hopefully I'll add some more stubs to this thread over time.

Love the old Waterman Blue Streak! But my favourite from this thread has to be the green Vac BB, very cool pen.

the ink looks like Ama-Iro

Thanks! I just looked at some reviews of Ama-Iro and I agree they appear quite similar.

dcpritch's amazing stubs are what convinced me to buy my first stub a few months ago, and it is my favourite pen right now! ;) (Excuse the terrible quality)

Thanks for posting, Sujicorp12345. Your handwriting is very attractive, and your stub's line variation looks great. Who did the grind on your stub?

Thank you! I got John Mottishaw to grind it.

Ah. Did you ask for anything special on the grind, or is it just his standard stub grind?

-- Constance

It's his standard stub grind on a broad nib.

My most recent find, inspired by Dcpritch and his stubs, stopped by my local pen store for some ink and found this great CS 85L with a flexible stub, absolutely gushing ink! Only problem is when I got home I noticed the nib was a 1 instead of a 3, but for this kind of nib I'll live with the mismatch.

Is that Pilot Asa-gao by chance?

My neat stubby franken pen, one of my favorite pens ( I say that to all my pens). It's a short, standard girth black & pearl Sheaffer flat top fitted with a vintage Kaweco nib.

I came across the nib with the tip bent nasty, so naturally I CI-ed it:-).

This is the greatest thread on FPN ever. I've got to get a scanner and a camera capable of macro work so I can contribute. The only stub I have have right now is a Pilot 78G BB, which is fairly sharp, almost an italic. I am expecting in the mail a 78G B, which probably will be a bit more practical for everyday writing. I also have a Waterman Rhapsody with a nib marked OGF that appears to be a fine left oblique. I also have ordered a beautiful black Waterman L'Etalon with a new broad nib from Peyton Street Pens that I intend to send to Pendleton Brown for him to work his magic.

I'm seriously considering ordering a Nakaya from John Mottishaw with either an extra broad ground to a stub or a music nib. Anyone here have experience with either of those nibs?

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.
