I love Pendleton's stubs. I should post mine here, which I don't think I've done yet.

Kynosura Safety Pen, 14k No. 1 Aikin Lambert flexible stub nib

Here's a really, really old pen about which I can find very little information. On the side of this smooth hard rubber pen it says "Kynosura" and the nib is an Aikin Lambert factory stub that writes an extremely thin line on cross strokes and a wide, flexible line on down strokes. It is great for precision writing (well, at least my kind of precision, not the EF kind), is very light, holds a nice amount of ink, and the safety mechanism is tight and secure. I'm estimating the era to be in the 1910s but don't have much to go on besides the look and style of this pen.

One of the coolest things about this pen - besides the nib - is the very unusual engraving at the cap top. I have never seen anything quite like it.

Damn, I want a flexible stub! That's awesome. I think Pendleton Brown does them ...

Wahl-Eversharp Doric Junior in Bronze & Green, factory stub nib

The Doric Junior had a couple of colors all its own and this is one of them. I invariably get compliments on this pen because folks notice the pretty celluloid, but the real reason I carry it is because the size is so nice for a shirt pocket, with its top clip, and the nib is absolutely wonderful. If you haven't ever had a vintage Eversharp stub you should make an effort to find one - I've never used one that wasn't a joy to write with. Plus, it has flex. :)

What a beautiful pen!! Love the green and brown mix. Classic fountain pens (shoot, any fountain pens) are scarcer than hen's teeth here.

I'm not sure how close you are to OKC but this shop has long been on my list of places to visit and I'm guessing they'd have more than a couple items to tickle your fancy. Twice in the past few years I've driven through OKC but each time it was after hours. :gaah: I love perusing their website, such an amazing variety of pens and related items!

Last week I inked up a big Pelikan:

Pelikan M1000, 18K BB stub by John Sorowka

The Pelikan M1000 is a big pen - 5-3/4" capped - and the nib is a behemoth, though a lovely one. This pen is in the classic green striated celluloid for which Pelikan is famous, with contrasting black cap and turning knob and gold accents. London's John Sorowka took a stock BB nib and made it into a smooth, wonderful stub nib that has great line variation and that "spring" for which these Pelikan nibs are well known.

OMG!! Thank you!! I had no idea there was such a treasure trove right up the street. I can't wait to visit! BTW, I noticed they say they do after-hours appointments :)

Summit S100, 14k B stub nib

This unheralded pen is a wonderful writer, with a soft-writing stubbish nib that can flex on demand but writes with a fairly narrow width at normal speeds. I love details like the subtle chasing on the barrel, the nickel trim, and softly peaked ends.

I've been pretty busy lately and I've fallen way behind on this thread. You guys have posted a lot of wonderful nibs while I wasn't looking! Now I have to catch up. So here are the stubs and italics that I happen to have inked today. The Conway Stewart is brand-new, I just received it in yesterday's mail. The others are all old friends.

Sexauerw, wonderful pens, thanks for sharing. I saw the CS at the Lichfield pen show and it is something special, but in your line up my favourites are the Targas. WOW :thumbup;

Bill, what a nice group of great pens!

The last one - Waterman Charlston - has quite a pronounced left oblique grind. Is it difficult to use?

And that makes me wonder whether, when switching between pens with stub nibs and obliques, it is difficult to adjust one's writing angle. I used to have several pens with nice oblique nibs but found it difficult to do the switch.

MCWB, Thanks for showing us some great pens.

I love the color of the Delta Prodigio. One thing I've noticed about B nibs that are converted to stubs is they usually end up around 0.7 to 0.9mm in width, a little less than the 1.1 to 1.3 that I prefer. I'm guessing the Sheaffer Legacy I stub nib is in that wider territory (at least mine is).

Esterbrook J, steel 2284 stub nib

Esterbrooks are such great pens for carrying around - they are nearly indestructible and the nibs, though not fancy, are consistent and reliable. I have a couple of 2284 nibs that are especially nice, this is one of them.

Yes, it is a bit difficult. It needs to be rotated just about 90 degrees to find the sweet spot, but then it writes quite well if I can concentrate on keeping it at that rotation. I experimented with obliques quite a bit a few years ago, but now I find that I prefer just ordinary stubs and italics. This Charleston was customized for a previous owner of the pen. I only have one other pen with that great of an angle and I find that I now use it very seldom. But somehow I do like the Charleston, it really is a very nice writer and the fine line makes it a good daily user.
