Dunhill Namiki And Others.

Hello or even Bonjour. I'm new to this site and very far from being any sort of expert on pens. When I posted a short introductory piece several people suggested that I should post some photos, so here goes. I have chosen three pens which seem to me somewhat unusual or about which I have not been able to find much information.

The first is my Dunhill Namiki pen which I guess is from the '30s.

This is a pen with some difficulties. I have never inked it and I imagine that there is a moulding bladder inside it. I don't know if the barrel unscrews from the nib section but if so it is enormously tight and I have never cared to use too much force to separate them. I also suspect that the nib is not original.

Secondly here is a Parker, it has a vacumatic filler system and is in good working order but the finish of the pen is unusual and I haven't found any references to it.

Lastly a peculiar pen which I believe dates from WW2. I cannot find a maker's name on the pen itself but the nib is marked 'Durium 6' It is absurdly sized, far too big to be comfortable to write with. Closed it is just short of 13cm long and its diameter is just over 2.5 cm at the widest point.

Any thoughts, observations or comments would be more than welcome.

I can't tell you really anything about the Dunhill Namiki pen but maybe you want to ask the members in the Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun section since it was probably made in Japan.

Hari is right that the second pen is a golden web Parker Vacumatic Jr. (made from 1936-38), which is quite sought after.

The third pen is actually something that I've seen before. It's a novelty fountain pen made in Japan. I guess they were joke gifts or souvenirs but they were working pens. It was probably made for the American market.

Actually, I think the third pen was meant for senior citizens who would have difficult gripping a regularly sized fountain pen. The fatter body makes it easy for those with arthritis and the like.
