Why Is My Recent 149 Nib Only Marked 750 & Not 18C

How about...

"Introduced..." or "First used..." to aid in future dating efforts?

Additionally, it would eliminate what we are currently experiencing--

people asking, "Did I get a fraudulent nib?"

Why Montblanc is unconcerned is puzzling.

Well, announcing changes would just help the fakers and I don't see how it would help identify fakes or avoid fraud. I'm not sure what makes you think MB is "unconcerned" or what they might be unconcerned about.

I hate to dig up an old thread, but I finally managed to snap a picture of my 149's nib without the 18K marking.

Nice! thanks for sharing. Has the MB logo on the nib also been reduced in size? the nib looks good, less busy.

Hi

Can anyone tell me why my recent MB 149 nib is only marked 750 & not like my other 149's that have both a 750 & 18c marking on the nib?

This is a100% authentic montblanc & purchased from a reputable dealer in Canada last month.

Thanks!

Don't worry. I bought a brand new one at the Toronto boutique and it's marked Au750

I have seen bars of pure gold marked "1000 fine". The curator told that it means

24 karat / 100% gold. 18k is 75% pure. I venture a guess that "AU 750" means 18K.

gold. I wonder if it is a result of Euro standardization.

I thought they always use 999

OK.

But on a different tack, if MB had done this through the years, those of us trying to more accurately date 149s (& other models) would have a much easier time.

Steve

MB do not care about people buying second hand pens from unauthorised sources.

Check under the clip. One of my modern MB pens has the "Germany" under the clip and not on the ring. I like it more that way, actually. In fact, I like the new changes a lot in general.

I am gonna check mine later. New pen less than a week old. Looks like the nib is the 'old' one with 18k and is it 'stod'? What does that mean?
Can't see what's under clip but the cap band does not have Germany on it. Lol

EDIT: Mine has Germany under the clip along with PIX and something else I cannot see properly.

My nib still says 18K and STOD. What the hell is STOD?

Hi,

The StØD is the Montblanc hallmark that they put on their nibs and other precious metal parts. Other companies have other hallmarks they apply to their nibs and parts such as Aurora which uses ✩5 TO on all their nibs and precious metal parts.
