joeccentric, I recognize the Parker Sonnet, but I'm not as familiar with dip pens. Both look very nice.

Thanks! The second one is a Speedball B holder with the Imperial (101) flex nib.

Hello,

Here's a Conway Stewart International, with charcoal urushi effect. It needs tidying a bit, and I need to replace the nib.....can't wait to get it working properly!

Regards

Terry

Hi,

Here's my latest black pen. It is a Conway Stewart International, which I have lacquered and charcoaled. Just needs a replacement CS 1A nib and a cap clip to finish.

Regards

Terry

Hey, that looks great! How did you "charcoal" the finish?

Hi...thanks. I used fine charcoal powder sprinkled onto urushi. It gives a very dark black effect. I think that professionally urushi-ed pens that use charcoal powder have the surface sanded matt; this pen feels sort of velvety since I have left it unsanded. Regards Terry

It does have a red butt though...the only pen with the little red pump :P

zemof, I'm sorry to hear you have a cracked cap, but otherwise that's a diverse and admirable set of black pens. Looking at all those sizes, I have to ask you which you prefer--larger pens or smaller pens?

Thank you for sharing

Black is not boring, but classic and original.

Hope all enjoy.

Thanks,

Tom.

FoszFay, Thanks for adding your photo here. I really like that collection.

Whitedot, That is quite a beauty, and certainly in keeping with your eponymous preference in pens (the white dot). It has a kind of industrial art deco character, like a big black train. Reminded me of this:

Use them in good health, my friends!

Hi,

I actually found that now I have a few more black pens.

First, my new Lady Sheaffer

Next, I have two Japanese pens, a Pilot Elite and a Sailor

I also have an Aurora 98 in black too. Aurora Italy fixed it for me recently. They are great. What other company fixes a pen that's from the 70's?

I don't get black pens often (the last pen I bought was purple), but they were all gifts, and they write well. Someone I know found them and wanted to give them to me.

This is still one of my favorite threads on FPN. Thought I'd give it a bump back for those that missed it the first time around. It's worth starting from the first post.

I've gradually been acquiring black pens over the past year as I've found them to be my one true love. This thread made for good eve candy and food for thought on options.

I'm hoping to post a new group shot soon after some new pens arrive that are en route.

This has been an enjoyable thread. All of you have some great pens.

I'm afraid I only have one vintage pen that qualifies, but I don't have any photos of it yet.

I do have a few modern pens that qualify, here are a couple photos.

First up, my Cross Century.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj171/vedearduff/Fountain%20Pen%20Network%20Postings/CrossCenturyUncappedWEB_zps8e1b6df8.jpg

Next up is my Parker Classic.

I have another Parker, not sure which model. I need to take a photo or two and post them. I also have a Sheaffer No Nonsense in black.

My one vintage pen is a Sheaffer Snorkel Clipper that I recently found on the bay. I need to shoot some photos and post a writing sample of the pen.

More later, once I have photos of the whole group.
