Pay It Forward 2013

Russ has definitely robbed the PIF 2013 , special mention to his Trafalgar and the latest MB.

However, its worth mentioning all the other FP lovers who are quite generous and warm hearted to care the new FP users. What a great thankful feeling when we write thinking that someone whom we havent even met before, has gifted this piece of writing instrument. And even greater is the feeling of the donors who would feel happy that someone somewhere writing with a fountain pen is thankfully thinking about them :)

wow !

I was the lucky one who won the Trafalgar, so although I qualified for the MB, I didn't dream of entering.

Russ is being too generous (not that I am complaining!)

I will be offering some PIF in the coming weeks, sadly just some Chinese Pens, but I'll bundle some other stuff as well.

My opinion is that the value of a PIF has little to do with the value of the PIF itself. My most valued pen is worth 30 dollars and I wouldn't trade it for a hundred montblancs...it was given to me:) The only person taking over the PIF thread...is all of us.

Rusty - regardless of whether I get chosen for your MB 149 PIF or not - many thanks for your generosity.

Russ,

How wonderful of you. This is very cool. I own a 149 and don't qualify, but you are giving an icon of the FP world to someone who will be able to discover what has made it so. Kudos to you. I love my 149... Will possibly own more. Congratulations to whoever wins this!

I have three 3ml ink samples to PIF...

- Monteverde Blue-Black

- Monteverde Brown

- Noodler's Walnut

I would prefer to have them go to someone who is new to bottled ink, if not to fountain pens in general. (I would also like to give them to someone who has not been the recipient of a PIF yet this year -- let's give everyone a chance, okay?)

To enter, PM me with:

- a description of how and when you got into fountain pens/bottled ink

- which colour you would prefer

- your name and mailing address.

I will pick three lucky winners on Saturday, January 19.

Whoops! Forgot to mention that I can only ship to CONUS. Apologies to everyone else...I really wish I could afford international shipping right now.

I only had one qualifying entry, so congratulations, Runnin_Ute! I'll be sending you a PM shortly -- you can have all three unless there's a colour you really don't want.

I don't know if this is done before or if anyone would be willing to partake in this experiment. Here goes, I received a Parker Sonnet courtesy of a fellow member from the PIF thread back in 2011. It has stayed with me for nearly two years now and has been looked after quite well by me considering it is the only fountain pen I own other than a Parker Vector. I am willing to PIF that pen to anywhere in the world on behalf of any member who sends me a equally interesting pen. The reason I want to do this is to experience a different fountain pen and believe that someone else could benefit from it just like I did when I returned to FP's.

If someone is in the mood to spread karma please do contact me.

I'm in the mood. I have an unused Noodlers flex still in the box that I'll throw into the stream. Just tell me how this works.

The Montblanc 149 PIF is now officially opened.

To enter: just send me a pm stating that you want to enter and I will put your name in the hat.

This will be a Montblanc 149 circa 1990. Currently this pen resides in Germany with a current FPN member, "Joker4eva", who will be helping me with this giveaway. There will be no restrictions on shipping location. Since I do PIFs to students, and will continue to do so, this will be for those of us out of school.

To be eligible: You must be over 25, and not currently in highschool or college. I do have a list of students from prior PIFs so those names will be excluded. I ask that if you have the means to purchase this pen...please don't throw your name in the hat. The winner will be selected Friday the 25th.

Regards, Russ

That is a great looking pen, and I totally meet the qualifications. PM sent!

Wow! So far I've gotten 15 responses -- who'd have thought it? Anyway, I'm still taking responses from anyone interested. Monday morning I'll do a drawing, or use Random.org to give everyone a fair chance. This is neat -- I never expected to hear from that many folks.

I have three pens but only two converters. Most people have indicated that they would prefer a converter; the first two winners will get a converter, and the third winner will get the packet of cartridges.

To PIF or to bin, that's the question.

Nr 1 : a chinese FP, comes with converter and a 'double nib'.

Nr 2 : blue/black, 14k nib, reminds of the osmia brand, deformed by heat.

Nr 3 : black, Osmia #222 F , bent nib, looks as is 14k.

Whoever wants to save them from the bin, just PM me.

Then, something better:

A white Shaeffer FP with two caps, one black, one white.

Finally:

Three (3) Parker 25 fountain pens, stainless steel, blue trim, nibs estimated F.

23 PMs so far, I'll draw the winners tomorrow around noon local time!

<snip>

My PIF offering is as follows: Three circa-1980s Parker Vector FPs, in used but good condition. I used these when I was in college. One is maroon, two are navy, all are Fine point. I've washed them all out, but there may remain slight traces of ink.

I am offering also 2 Parker converters and an unopened NOS package of Parker Quink cartridges in Permanent Black.

If you are interested in one of them, let me know by PM whether you prefer the maroon one or a navy-blue one, and whether you'd rather have a converter or the pack of cartridges. Monday morning, I will roll the dice and we'll see who gets which ones...

<snip>

fpn_1358534646__parker_vector_pif.jpg

I had 20 people in the drawing for this -- I just wish I had something for everyone who messaged me.

And the winners are:

1) Winner #1 -- Navy blue w/converter: aj3537

2) Winner #2 -- Navy blue w/converter: husong1995

3) Winner #3 -- Maroon w/ Quink carts: mmkoenecke

PM me with your addresses, and I'll get them out this week. Thank you for participating!

So around noon, names were written on pieces of paper, the pieces of paper went into the hat and out of the hat came the winners.

If you are among them, you'll be PM'ed today.

Thank you all for showing your interest, you taught me that PIF'ing is great fun and I solemnly swear that I will never ever put anything in the bin that might be PIF'ed first. I found it hard to disappoint so many others, so I threw in an extra P25 (stainless steel, black trim) and a few "mystery items" not listed in the initial post...
