Pay It Forward 2013

I am a Noob and ‘tis the season for giving. This weird PIF gives me a chance to participate in PIF until I have a nice pen to give away. I will donate $100.00 USD to the winner’s charity of choice. To enter, please write me a brief (ish) PM describing your favorite charity and how they help people. So that FPN members from any country can participate, please limit your choice of charity to organizations that are somewhat well known, having a news footprint that can be easily discovered. This will allow me to verify their legitimacy. The winning PM will be mailed a certified check made out to the charity. The winner will forward the check on to the organization. A winner will be selected on Sunday, December 15.

Here is a chance for me to support the good work you support. My inclination is towards smaller organizations providing direct support/care/assistance/etc. to people rather than a giant mega-charity such as the United Way. Our interest in fountain pens is a niche interest so it makes sense to support a niche charity.

Thanks in advance for sharing your hearts with me. I can’t wait to read your PMs.

Rob

Thank you to everyone who submitted a charity for this PIF. The entries are all doing terrific work alleviating suffering and providing hope were there may have been none. Entries were for organizations in several countries and focused on very different needs. Some people shared their own personal connection to the groups and their work as volunteers. I was touched by your commitments and found this a difficult choice to make.

The winning organization name was submitted by two FPN members: hariharan and mesa.

The Akshaya Trust in India will receive the $100 donation. Started by a man named Narayanan who broke tradition and began providing food and medical care to the most poor of India. Since there were two submissions of the same organization I will mail the donation directly to Akshaya Trust www.akshayatrust.org

I've been around the forum for a few months now, but I'm a reader more than a poster so I think this is actually my first post.

I'd like to make a PIF offer of some of the cheaper pens in my collection that I've never really warmed to.

The pack will include:

1 x Noodler's Ahad Flex in Yellow - I think it works fine, I've just never really found the right 'setting' with it

1 x Jinhao x750 in White (it's actually more of an ivory colour) - wet writer that I've never warmed to

1 x Sheaffer No Nonsense in Red with a medium italic nib

1 x Sheaffer No Nonsense in Black with a fine italic nib (this was a garage sale buy and the nib is very scratchy, could do with some tlc I think)

I'll also throw in a bunch of cartridges in various colours

I don't mind if you're a newbie or not but I would prefer someone in Australia (for postage reasons).

That said, if you want it and you're out of oz email anyway - you never know right?

I'll decide who the 'winner' is on Christmas Day!

Thanks everyone.

Thank you for choosing Akshayatrust. $100 would mean a lot. This trust has very less overheads compared to others and you can be assured that what you donate reaches the intended recipients.

Thank you again for your generosity.

Thank you for your generous gift offer and very fitting for the giving season. I don't live in Australia or own any fountain pen. I would love to receive the Ahab because i watched so many reviews on it from YouTube and would like to try it out for my first real fountain pen.

Cheers,

Steven

Any girls named Maureen out there that want some stationery? I was working on a template for a gift and have some not quite perfect stuff left over. I'm not entire sure the paper is perfect for all inks, so this PIF is a bit of a gamble. But it's free! Anyone interested? PM me!
