Thanks to everyone who responded with their interest in Esterbrook. I received 21 replies and the random number selected is #2, which was assigned to mistykasumi.

This was very fun to do and I plan to offer something similar in the very near future.

This offering is specifically for those experienced in tuning, or otherwise modifying nibs only. I swapped a Kaweco for this via the classifieds a while back and frankly, despite it's solid and attractive appearance, I am having issues with ink flow and smoothness of the nib. I have flossed the nib, flushed it many times, even dabbled with some light micromesh smoothing and yet I can't keep it working for any period of time. I feel certain that with a more experienced set of hands, this pen could be a nice addition to some members collection. With all that said, I offer up the Retro 51 Tornado with a medium nib.

I will let this one run through December 1st as well, and it will be a simple drawing. Domestic shipping only, please.

Ah bugger at domestic shipping :<, I reckon I could get it up and running. With that being said if someone wins this and would like some advice on how to procede, send me a pm :)

Up for grabs: Lamy nib, F, for Safari/Vista/AL-star.

This is new and barely used; I tried it for about 1/2 of one fill of my converter. The nib itself is very good, but I'm just not a fan of the F nib--I keep going back to XF nibs, or if I want sometng broader, going to the much bigger italic nibs I have. So, rather than have this go to waste, I'd like to pass it to someone who will put it to good use.

This is ideal for someone who needs a replacement or who is looking to try a new size nib. I'll also throw in a couple of ink samples as long as I'm sending this.

I prefer that this goes to someone who is relatively new to fountain pens, a student, or someone who hasn't received a PIF from me before,*but it is open to anyone who already has a pen that can fit this nib.*

If you would like this, please send me a PM with:

-your name and mailing address

-which two of the following colors you'd like:

Diamine Onyx Black

Diamine Sapphire

Diamine Steel Blue

Diamine Pumpkin

Waterman Havana Brown

Waterman Violet/Purole

Noodler's Lexington Gray

Noodler's Blue

Noodler's Air Corps Blue Black

Noodler's Old Manhattan Black

Noodler's Fox Red

Private Reserve Midnight Blues

Private Reserve Plum

Sorry mate, would love to offer International delivery, but the cost of shipping overseas is exorbinant, more than the value of the pen easily.

This Lamy nib is now claimed. I decided to give it to the first person who sent me a PM with all details, so this is going to Gump (who has been very generous in what he's offered up on this thread).

Congrats.

I'm pleased at the response: 45 people messaged me about the VP. Most told me exactly why the VP would be a workhorse for them. As a college professor I was glad that so many respondents were students.

So, with that as preface, I just did the drawing for the VP using the RNG at random.org. The winning number was 14, which is huhjunn. Congrats! You should expect a PM from me shortly so we can arrange shipping.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to share about themselves and their pen use / desires. You were all were deserving and I just regret that I don't have 45 pens to give away!

ETA: If I don't hear from huhjunn by evening on Friday (29 November), I will re-do the drawing to select a new winner. Don't expect that to happen, but thought I would post it publicly so there's no questions later if this all goes pear shaped.

Long-time lurker coming out of the woodwork as it were. As I just passed a small, but important career milestone with flying colors and (as a reward) my wife is treating me to one of my "grail pens", I decided that I would celebrate by doing a PIF of my very first FP. It started my interest in FPs, but it has remained unused for well over a decade and I'm not a terribly sentimental type. So, I'm putting up here a late 1990s Pilot Vanishing Point in blue carbonesque with a medium 18K nib. Included is the original converter (it has a very slight blue stain), the original box, and four Pilot cartridges black ink. These look full still, but its possible some evaporation has occurred over the years. I have not tested this with ink, but it was put away clean so I expect it to work just fine. It was always a very smooth writer for me -- I stopped using it only because I found I couldn't live with the clip near my fingers. (Having bratwurst for digits is a tribulation, not least because my dogs keep wanting a taste.)
There are some conditions for this PIF:
1. If you decide not to keep this pen in the future, you MUST also PIF or give it away to someone who is new to FPs; you cannot sell the pen.
2. You must not have a collection of high-end pens already. Preferably, I would like this to go to someone who is new to FPs and would use it often (e.g., a student, a teacher) and who has been prevented from trying a VP simply because of the price.
3. I will happily pay for US postage, but if you live overseas, I ask that you cover postal costs, preferably via Paypal. I will pack it up and get a shipping quote and wait for Paypal to clear before shipping. I will mark it as a "gift" for international shipment, because that is what it is, but you are responsible for any customs duties (or bribes) that your government entity sees fit to levy.
Obviously, I have no way of enforcing these, but I ask that you respect my wishes and I suspect that the good users of FPN will do so. The honor system seems healthy here.
I will accept requests for the pen via PM until next weekend and then will use a random number generator to pick the recipient.
Finally, my apologies for the dodgy pics. A product photographer I am not.

Congratulations, hujunn! My only thought after this past week of daydreaming about the Vanishing Point is that I need to get one somehow. Tips on how to save up for one are welcome :D

Thank you everyone, I will certainly take pictures and provide a writing sample in honor of the generous Shudaizi who made this PIF possible! Harlequin, I will visit the VPP chat sometime next week once my assignments are out of the way. Let me know what time you're usually there haha.

Congrats huhjunn! As green with envy as I am, I still can't help but be excited for you! Enjoy!
