Will split up into 3 samples each for 2 people if I get enough response - say over 5 people, So in your message let me know which inks you prefer and I'll try to send you those if you win.

The October ink drop included:

  • Scribal Work Shop Kraken Black
  • Scribal Work Shop Leviathan Green
  • Scribal Work Shop Nessie Purple
  • Scribal Work Shop Siren Blue
  • Scribal Work Shop Zhulong Red

CONUS only this time. I'll draw names on Sunday of the reponse is good, otherwise I may leave it open until this time next week. Please don't request these if you were an ink drop memeber in October of 2012 and have already had these samples. Good Luck!

TAKEN : SIX DIAMINE INTERNATIONAL SHORT CARTRIDGES
SHIP TO : WORLDWIDE
Thanks to the generosity of Phil and the staff at DIAMINE I have a selection of ziplock bags containing the following International Short Cartridges which were included in my most recent order. The bags contain...
BAG ONE
2x Ancient Copper
2x Prussian Blue
2x Oxblood
BAG TWO
2x Majestic Blue
2x Dark Brown
2x Imperial Purple
BAG THREE
2x Blue/Black
2x Umber
2x Monaco Red

I have a couple of each of the bags so indicate your preference or say "surprise me" if you don't mind.

I intend to ship one sample bag to each respondent unless there is only a little interest in which case I will just divvy them up randomly. The cartridges are unlabelled so you will have to employ a bit of logic and possibly a Magic 8-Ball to work out which is which.
I will ship this worldwide so if those of you in far-flung places would like to try some good British ink, please PM me and I will notify the lucky owners in a few hours subject to interest.
EDIT : These cartridges have now been taken and I will reply to everyone who PM'd me shortly.

My apologies, mhguda, Wanahakalugi and Mesu. I have finally gotten your PIFs in the mail, and they should be on their respective ways to you. I'll send each of you a tracking number, momentarily!

Be forewarned... I will eye-bang the bejeezus out of your pens...

Hi everyone! I'm having a big ole destash and declutter and am trying to determine what might be the quickest and most sanity-preserving way to rehome the things that didn't make the cut (mostly pens in the $60 and under price category, but a few full-size inks plus some bits and pieces like a pair of ink sample racks from the Goulets). I have to say this thread looks like a great candidate for that, I just have a couple of questions about how this all is meant to work, as I have no experience with it :)

First off, shipping costs - am I supposed to cover that or is that covered by whoever wants the things? The issue for me is that I think there's maybe just one other member from the same country on here, so it's about 95% certain I will have to ship internationally. which might change the equation.

Second, is PIF strictly giving stuff away, or can it work on the basis of a trade like with the paper exchange and ink exchange? I'm not sure I'll go for this necessarily, but I just want to know if it could be an option.

Thanks all!

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Hi Plume

Rules and arrangements are yours to make. You can set the rules such that the winner covers shipping, splits shipping, etc. - your call.

PIF, though, is strictly giving away. It is not a barter or exchange, but a hope that the fortunate winner will, in turn, pass something along to somebody else down the road.

I want to say Thank you to Craig Forsyth here, too. I think it was two months ago that I won the PiF for his first (?) pen wrap, a beautiful hand-sewn dark blue/green number. I couldn't believe my luck! Then when it seemed lost in the mail, I thought, oh well, maybe some lucky so and so got it instead...

Not so: it traveled half the region before finally landing in my mailbox. I seem to be in such an out-of-the-way-place (not really though!) that in some countries they have not heard of mine... so my pen wrap was sent to Venezuela (our large neighbor to the south). Where eventually someone did realize where to send it, and it did arrive safe and sound...

Thanks Craig! I'm especially glad because even after all that travel, the wrap was in pristine condition, and all ready to be enjoyed - which I will!

I would like to give away the pen that got me back into pens in 2008. It is a custom kit pen I traded for something that I do not remember. It is nothing special. Uses a daycom medium nib and cartridge converter. I would like it to go to someone that does not have much as far as pens and inks. Please pm me on why I should consider you and I will give it away in 7 days. Prefer conus but always exceptions for the needy. The only rule is that you can not sell the pen. If you do not like it or when you get more pens gift it to some other needy person.

I've got a black Lamy steel LH nib that needs a home. It'll fit on a Safari.

I'll ship it worldwide to the first respondent who PMs me, with the following two requirements:

1. You must be left-handed.

2. You must use it and post a review of the nib on the site.

Both requirements are on the honor system, of course. Ideally, this should go to someone who wants to try a LH nib and can't afford it.

Adding: This has been spoken for.

Yes, no trading. Trades go in the classifieds.

But I don't want to trade for anything particularly specific - that's what I want to avoid, ideally, the process of having to price stuff exactly, because I mostly just want to destash, have things go to a good home, and maybe get something in return. Keyword maybe, not definitely, and not a specific thing, not even necessarily a pen-related item.

Is there a way to do that? I imagine that's not the idea with the classifieds either, I imagine I would have to say, 'exchanging this specific pen [insert description] for this other specific item. To offer a more concrete example, I have a bunch of pilot petit1s, and am currently looking to outfit all of my pens with converters, so I would say something like 'offering 5 pilot petits for 1 sheaffer converter, or something like that. Right?

Thing is, I don't know that I want to do that, because what are the odds that one person will want *exactly* what I'm offering and will have spares of exactly what I'm looking for? It could be months before that happens, and I don't really want this to drag on for months. I'd rather be more flexible and say, I want to rehome some pens and would rather get an item rather than money in exchange, let's figure this out. Does that make sense?

Is there a way to do something like that?

I do think you should go to the classifieds for that. The main reason therefore is that FPN admin already thinks the PiF thread is a disguised form of trading, and it took some doing to convince them otherwise. If we allow something like you are asking for, we could be in hot water again. Let's try to avoid that... so no trades here - but you can also go to market watch and offer what you suggest. Who said it would have to be a totally equal value in the trade? As long as it's acceptable to both parties, you'd have a trade...

Short answer, plume is, put up what you want to give, not for any particular exchange, specifying who is eligible under what conditions, and roll with it. Later, somebody may post something that interests you, and you can try for that. Sometimes, karma is kind... ;-)

It's a straight trade ad that belongs in the Classified Ads section. It isn't a Market Watch item.

It's not a matter of anyone in this thread "allowing" it. It would be removed by the moderators with a msg sent to Plume145 about where it belongs.

woah, everyone, hold on a sec, because I get the feeling there's some tension in the air, so let me try to clear it a bit:

1. I'm not trying to break, bend, or even merely dodge any rules - formal or informal, written or unwritten.

2. I am not trying to interfere with anybody's business or livelihood - in any case, it would be ridic, because all I have is a bunch of pens, all inked and tested or more, none expensive, rare, or even just vintage, and a few other bits and pieces. Not exactly money-making inventory, or inventory at all.

3. I've just gone through my stash and decided I no longer have any use for these items. I now need to find something to do with them, which shouldn't be just putting them in the trash seeing as they're barely used. At the same time, I am insanely busy with: a house move, and sorting through a deceased relative's entire household full of possessions, and helping with repairs in two other homes. So. I don't have the time to fiddle about with listing stuff for sale - that's just something I cannot get into right now, or for the next several months.

Here's what I'd like to do, if possible: post two lists, one of what I'd like to rehome and another of stuff I want, and have people contact me if they can pick stuff from both lists, then we figure it out. That's it. IOW, I just want to take part in the online version of a pen-centric swap party, so that I can rehome my stuff quickly without squandering an enormous amount of energy, and still get something in return, if possible.

IS that possible, if not in the PiF thread, then anywhere else on FPN? That's what I want to know.

thanks :)

I'd suggest 2 separate transactions. The offload part can easily go in this thread. The "want ad" part, not so much. The "maybe getting something in return" isn't what this particular thread is about. That said, you're already subscribed to this thread, so, if somebody posts something you're interested in, you can certainly ask for it (thus the separate transaction notion). You can also place a want ad in the classifieds section, but, that's not going to necessarily be on your timetable (unless you were to, say, put a time limit on there before doing the PIF thing). Make more sense?

Plume,

If you want to just give a way a couple of things, then you can do that here.

My suggestion would be to place an ad (or ads in the classifieds). And just say that you will accept offers for trade. You can list things you're looking for and say "that stuff would be great, but I'll consider other offers".

Then if there's stuff that doesn't find a home, and you still want to get rid of it, you can do so here.

I think this is a great way to do this
