This is my 4th FPM post and my first pif. Without further ado, I offer a brand new Jinhao x750. I regularly use this model of hefty and smooth-writing-broadish-medium Chinese pen. When I showed mine to my wife (who's never used a fountain pen and has been reluctant to share in my obsession) she liked it a lot so I ordered a second one for her. I got a bit carried away on ebay and ended up winning a third for 5 bucks including shipping from Hong Kong. So I figured I'd pass it along.

Here are the rules:

1. You must not currently own a modern Chinese fountain pen.
2. You must like heavy pens (this thing is a tank with a massive nib).
3. You must live in the continental united states.

If you meet the above requirements and send me a PM with your address in the next 48 hours, you may be randomly selected to recieve this pen in a padded envelope via 1st class usps.

Circa by Levenger Paper

So I feel a bit silly offering this especially in lieu of the great things others have posted! I have tons of paper for the Circa by Levenger system though and if anyone wants to sample it I’d be happy to pass some along. I have the Levenger dot grid, college lined (two formats – one with title boxes one without), lined, perpetual date, and the Rhodia for Circa paper. I can send one type or just give you a complete sampling of it!

Unfortunately I don’t have any more discs so I can’t offer a notebook but figured this was a good way to dip my toes into the water of paying it forward. For now I'm limiting it to the US but if I don't have any takers and I can find a reasonable shipping rate I'll expand to international. PM me if interested!

I don't think any gift, offered with a generous heart, is silly. You give what you want to give, and it will be appreciated.

In fact, although I won't be sending in a PM for this, thank you anyway, for joining in, for keeping the spirit of PiF alive, and for expanding it to paper. Great idea.

Aren't Lamy carts proprietary? That's important to note, in case someone out there doesn't know.

They will also fit Parker and International size (They go either way.)

Apparently, they also fit Geha Cart pens.

Here's my first PIF - decided that I have too many pens and there are good homes for them out in the cosmos.

Two orange and blue plastic pens, nice writers, would be terrific for a kids project, or maybe just someone young at heart.

I'd like to send them out as a pair, will send they worldwide.

These pens were part of Richard Binder's nib smoothing kit. They didn't need much smoothing at all, and are actually very nice pens. They are exact twins except for the nibs - one says "Iridium Point Germany" and the other is "Iridium Point W-Germany". Screw top, international cartridges. Each will come with an empty and a full cart.

Please PM me with a note as to why you would like them or how you would use them, and I'll pick a recipient in the next few days, depending on how many responses I get.

In my experience, Lamy cartridges are proprietary. They do not fit my Parker pens, nor do they fit the pens that take international cartridges without a great deal of force being used. As a general rule, that amount of force means that it doesn't fit properly - and while you might get away with it this time, damage is likely to occur if used over an extended period of time.

Try this - no more force required than with using a Parker cartridge.

The thin end will fit an international cartridge.

Thanks to the recent kindness of a FPN member, I've decided to do my part and pif some unused pens. I have 4 hero 616 pens. I'd like for them to go to one person, but may be willing to split them. If I can find some empty vials I will also include some ink samples.

Criteria:

Since I am a broke grad student, I'd like to see these go to a fellow graduate student. PM me your current university/college, what program you are in, how far along, and a little bit about yourself (this could include favorite pen, ink, hobbies...). If I do not get entries I will open it up to everyone.

Drawing will end Sunday at 11:59 pm eastern time.

Paying forward a Lamy Z50 Broad Nib, Lamy cartridges and Pay It Forward wristbands, together.

Criteria

This PIF is open worldwide. However, entrants must at the time of sending in their entry:

  1. own a Lamy FP that is compatible with the Z50 nib
  2. commit to PIF-ing in some way in their own community (not necessarily giving away freebies)
  3. have been an active member of FPN for a month or more

To enter, please PM with Z50 in the subject line, and the model and colour of the Lamy FP(s) that you own, before 21 June 2013. If you are a student on a tight budget despite your best efforts, you may inform me. If you have received a PIF on FPN within the last six months, you are still eligible, but you must inform me.

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to two people here :

  • Zoniguana = Thank you for the amazing bottle of Private Reserve Ebony Green Ink. It is a truly beautiful shade and I am truly grateful for the gift.
  • Tomgartin = Thank you very much for the Baoer 79!!! It is a really good writer!! A few of my friends even mistook it for the Montblanc Starwalker :D

I received both a few weeks ago, but I am currently in a remote village due to the demands of my job. I will most definitely post pictures of both the ink and the pen as soon as I get back to Mumbai city in the next few weeks.

Thanks once again!! :)

In the spirit of paying it forward, I am going to PIF with two 20ml vials of Akkerman Ink, as pictured below:

fpn_1369237782__akkerman_pif.jpg

The two inks aforementioned are Akkerman Shocking Blue (#5) and Voorhout Violet (#15).

I will open this PIF to everybody, worldwide. To be in the running, simply send me a PM stating your ink preference; also, tell me which would be the first pen you'd ink it up with, and why.

I will put the entries into my trusty top hat and pick two winners on Saturday, June 7th.

Bumping for the new page.

One more week until I pick the winners! Right now it seems that #15 is the more popular ink among the two.

Hi Everyone,

I was talking to my friend who mentioned that he uses Kokuyo Campus notebooks for writing with his FPs. He said that they are good quality, dry well, don't feather and don't soak through to the reverse side of the page. He also mentioned that they seem to be hard to obtain overseas (I live in Japan) and may be expensive. I went out straight away to get a notebook for myself. I also bought some extras to put up as a PIF for those who would be interested.

Notebook details:
1. There are five new unused notebooks of different colours. Purple, Pink, Orange, Green and Blue.
2. 7mm X 30 lines per page with 30 pages.

This PIF is open to anyone from any country. Each person limited to one notebook. Please PM me with your desired colour.

I will close this PIF at 12 midnight JAPAN TIME on the 8th of June.
And announce the winners next Monday.

Warm regards,

It's time for another PiF, and I want to make this one a little unusual. Some time ago, I bought a lot of pen parts and parts pens from a fellow FPNer, and I managed to put together a nice number of complete pens. They were described as Italian school pens, they are reminiscent of the famous Parker 51 but are much smaller both in diameter and in length. The filling system is a permanent piston. I want to put one of these mystery pens up for Pay it Forward here. No picture will be provided, so you must love a mystery. I promise that the pen works, but it may need some work to start. I have not been able to solve all hardstarting problems, in fact the ones that I decided to keep have to be dipped in water (or ink) if I don't use them for a day or more. That's the downside. The upside of that is that you can fully disassemble the pen so if you are so inclined, you could tinker a bit and have a better pen. If you do, please share your fix with me.

This PiF is open to all comers, I only ask that you email me (at mhguda at yahoo dot com) a short note explaining why you want the pen and why I should give it to you. I am honestly not sure how I will decide who wins this, but I'm hoping to be inspired by the notes! Mails should be in my mailbox by next wednesday 23:00 Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).

Let the mails come in!
