Pay It Forward 2013

I have a letter waiting to go out in the mail tomorrow :)

Only two letters so far for my Nooder's Konrad. Maybe not the most exiting offering, admittedly, but I thought I'd get some response.

I've attached an image to entice you.

I love this thread!! Many of the gifts offered here are better than the best in my collection! You guys are awesome.

As seems to be my tradition when I join a new forum, I'd like to jump right in and offer a PIF gift.

There's a stationer on my route that is closing to consolidate with their other stores, and has gotten to the 80% markdowns already. Most everything is gone, but today I stopped in and picked up a few more things(I have already bought all their Postcards for my Postcrossing) One of the things I couldn't pass up at such a discount(even though I don't currently have a Waterman) was the cartridges they had left. I'll keep the blue and maybe start looking for a pen to put them in, but black has never been a favorite ink color for me anyway, so I'll offer up...

Three packs of Waterman cartridges in "Intense Black". Each pack has 8 "large size standard cartridges" and from the price tag, it looks like they have been on the shelf for 1 year.

I'll ship these anywhere in the world.

If you're interested, send me your address. Lets give it until next weekend. I'll put all the address in a hat and draw one out. The winner will get the ink, and all the others will get a card or a postcard from me. I won't announce the winner here, but you'll know when you get your mail. Good luck.

Well, it came down to just a coin toss. The winner has been selected, and the notifications will be going out in the mail. Thanks for playing everyone.

It finally arrived! Your thank you note is on its way to you, but I thought I'd add some pics as well. Sorry for my messy handwriting!

Offer: 2 partial boxes of Lamy ink cartridges. It's a mix of 3 black cartridges and 3 blue-black cartridges. FYI: They're less than a year old.

I know it's not much, but since I was gifted a bottle of Iroshizuku Fuyu-syogun, these cartridges have just been sitting around in my drawer. I figured I'd pass them on to someone who would actually use them.

If these cartridges are something that you'd like and could use, just PM me by this Friday (12 midnight) and I'll select a winner from whatever entries I get. I'd kind of prefer these to go to someone who really needs them, so if you have the disposable income to just buy them yourself, I'd appreciate it if you refrained from PMing me...Thanks!

Aren't Lamy carts proprietary? That's important to note, in case someone out there doesn't know.

Yes. Good to note. I guess I just figured that everyone would know they'd need to use these cartridges in the appropiate pen....being Lamy.

Thanks for pointing it out though!

I have received the bottle of Skrip Jet Black from cvasara today. Many thanks for the ink!

In the spirit of paying it forward, I am going to PIF with two 20ml vials of Akkerman Ink, as pictured below:

The two inks aforementioned are Akkerman Shocking Blue (#5) and Voorhout Violet (#15).

I will open this PIF to everybody, worldwide. To be in the running, simply send me a PM stating your ink preference; also, tell me which would be the first pen you'd ink it up with, and why.

I will put the entries into my trusty top hat and pick two winners on Saturday, June 7th.

Winners have been chosen and notified, BluePhish and Seiry. Thanks everyone for playing, here are the favorite books in no particular order:

1.As for my favorite book, Currently I would have to say "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. It is the first in a series of about three, it's the only one I have read becasue if I started another one I wouldn't get any uni work done at all.

I enjoy the fact that the story is being told both in the present and the past. So there are hints about how it ends that you just need to know the answers to. The magic also makes sense and isn't overpowered, so it adds to the story. The whole thing is just great!

2. The Sword of Truth is one of the book series that I currently like. I've always been into those genre of books since I was a kid. I can visually see the characters in my head as I read and it feels like I'm there watching in the background.

3. My favourite author is John Grisham and John Green but my favourite book of all time is the green mile by Stephen King.

The book is very well written and extremely moving. It actually almost made me cry ;) The plot is not extremely original as it is an analogy to the story of Jesus but it is still pretty awesome

4. My favorite book is The Andromeda Strain, from Michael Crichton. It's a dense book, but it created interest in me about sciences and aeronautics, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

5. It is called The Caliph of Bagdad by Slyvanus Cobb Jr. It was originally published in serial form in the New York Ledger, in 1868, under the title of The Mystic Tie of the Temple, and created a demand which justified the publishers in putting out a large edition in book form. Although there were several subsequent reprints it eventually became out of print and very hard to procure, although I think you can purchase recent modern day publications of it now.

The scene is laid in Bagdad in the ninth century, and has a plot that is exceedingly strong with that can't-wait-to-turn-the page effect.
Dagon, the hero, returning to Bagdad, his native city, impelled by a desire to relieve the distress which has been caused by the tyrannical Caliph. He comes from Jerusalem, where he has been a Brother of the Mystic Tie, but in Bagdad he finds the conditions have made it necessary for the Brotherhood to use the fraternal principles and practices to an extent he had not conceived. The adventures and thrilling incidents which Dagon and his associates undergo before the story reaches the satisfactory climax make it a fascinating and most delightful tale. It is like an 1800's Dan Brown novel with more finess but no less thrilling. As the book/story is extremely old, so it is good to remember sometimes that it is a very old story from another time. Definitely an exciting book from yesteryear that is worth checking out.

6. Favourite book series, definitely (Sir) Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, in particular "Witches Abroad".

If you've read any of the series involving Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick, you'll know how hilarious the formidable, crusty senior witch with the well-hidden softest of centres can be. The best fictional characters are firmly grounded in real life, and Granny could easily be an old fashioned hospital Matron or any other classic matriarch - Maggie Smith's character in Downton Abbey, for example.

7. My favorite book series has to be Harry Potter. Those stories made my childhood fantasies come to life when reading. Furthermore, I felt a connection to the main character, Harry Potter, who grows up in a family that was not kind to him.

Well thank you! I've always had atrocious (and small) writing but have been diligently practicing. Its coming along, however slowly.

it's so small!

You should have seen it before I started using Fps!
