Okay I have a PIF for you. Actually, as I've experienced a huge amount of generosity in my couple of months on FPN, I guess it's more of a 'pay it back'.I don't have a huge number of pens so giving one of them away wasn't really an option. I also don't have lots of money but I did have a little time to spare and the materials to create this. It's a hand-sewn pen wrap, made specifically to give away, so I hope plenty of people will like it enough to throw their hats into the ring. Here are a few photos:http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8382/8558455319_9ffed1318a_b.jpghttp://farm9.staticflickr.com/8380/8558455389_1069016660_b.jpghttp://farm9.staticflickr.com/8100/8559564138_baf3853227_b.jpgAs you can see it has five slots, each of which can accommodate a decent-sized pen (the pens pictured are not included, I hasten to add). The PIF is open to anyone, anywhere, with no conditions, though quite a lot of time and effort went into making this so I hope you’ll be willing to put in a little effort of your own.I'm going to follow John Metta's example from earlier this year and ask people to send me a hand-written note - that can be of any length, on any scrap of paper and about anything.Ideally I'd like to receive some mail, as all I seem to get through the letterbox these days is bills, but if you really can't afford that then please take a pic of your note and PM it to me.If you're willing to send me something through the post, please don't forget to include your FPN username, otherwise I won't be able to add you into the draw. Please PM me and I’ll provide my address.I'm going to set quite a long deadline on this so there's a chance for any overseas entries to reach me (yes, I'm ever the optimist). The draw will take place on Sunday, 4 May, giving you seven weeks which should be ample time for anyone. All entries will go into a sack and the winner will be picked by my 21-month-old son, so you can rest assured it will be a totally random (and probably somewhat untidy) process.Best of luck and thank you to everyone for all their help, advice and support, you've made my foray back into fountain pen use a very gratifying experience,Craig.

Aaaaaaand the winner is.....mhguda!

Congratulations, I'll PM you to check I have the address correct before I send.

Many thanks to everyone else who took the time to write, I only wish I could afford to send you all a wrap. I am, however, more than happy to email some instructions to anyone who'd like to have a go at making their own.

Is there any way you can extend the deadline a couple more days because the forum was down? I

Bump for the new page. Also...due to the challenges of international postage, I'm extending the deadline to may 7th. So now, the entries must be received BY MAY 7th.

Thanks.

Ok.....
For your PIF'ing pleasure, I have a barely used TWSBI vac700 with a fine nib,.....additionally. There's a broad nib, AND a vac20 bottle.
There is NOTHING wrong with any of them. Just weren't my liking...heymatthew can attest to their functionality.

Now for the rules and entering process. I thought long and hard about this last night....and definitely want entries to be hand written.
Now, I love quotes...particularly Lord Byron, H.L. Mencken, and Churchill.

Write me a letter/postcard/note with your favorite quote and why it is such.....
Entry restrictions. NONE
Because this will be a handwritten entry, I'll keep it open until the END OF THIS MONTH.....
PM me for the address they can be sent to.

Again, must be received by the end of this month..

Happy PIF'ing

I am guessing that Cogs is already doing that since he couldn't announce a winner by the end of the month.. At least I am hoping for that too...

So, it turns out that I'm not a flex nib writer at all. I write with nothing but my italic nibs, so having a flexible nibbed Noodler's Konrad in mottled brown means having a pen that just sits in my bag with ink drying in it.

Recently, I cleaned it up and thought about putting it away in case I ever want to use it again, but I think I'll be able to afford a new one in the unlikely future where I want to pull it out. So, because I don't like thing sitting around unused, I want someone to use it. Hence my third PIF do date.

Same as before, random drawing from entries and I want a letter, card, note, joke, or some other piece of handwritten mail as an entry. I'd prefer people who don't have a lot of pens already, and who haven't won a PIF. I'm opening a new traditional Cidery here on June 1st, and while that means nothing to you, it's exciting for me, so let's make that a deadline and I'll give something away on the day I start a new venture.

Address letters to my office:

John Metta

510 Cascade, suite 100

Hood River, Oregon 97031

Also, as I'm traveling, and just have a mobile device from which I can't upload a picture (and which is a wee frustrating to post on in general), you'll have to deal with

A link to Goulet, from whom I purchased the pen. It's the mottled brown Konrad: http://www.gouletpens.com/Noodlers_Mottled_Lt_Brown_Ebonite_Konrad_Flex_Pen_p/n14052.htm

New PIF

My last PIF is well on its way to a new home, so I thought It'd be time to start another little one. This time I'll be giving away one Pilot 78G Broad stub in red.

http://static1.jetpens.com/images/a/000/028/28606.jpg

Its a great little pen with a lovely smooth nib that is probably closer to a cursive italic than a stub. Its very lightweight, and great for long writing sessions.

Along with the pen I'll send one of Pilot's squeeze converters and/or a cartridge if you're the type who prefers to refill those, and you can also choose three ink samples from my collection.

Since this package will be quite light I believe I can (for the first time) open this PIF up worldwide.

Rules

- If you've won a pen PIF from me in the past, please let others have a chance to win.

- If you could easily afford or source this pen it would be nice to let some who cannot have a chance to win it.

To enter - PM me with your location, approximate is fine. I'm not looking for any particular location, there's no right or wrong response, I just want to see how far FPN reaches! I'll keep this open until next Monday the 22nd, and will use Random.org to choose the winner.

Thank you K. Cakes for the wonderful pen and ink samples. I am really digging the Bilberry!

Hey, thanks for the idea, DanielCoffey!

Offer: Six J. Herbin international short cartridges

Will ship to: U.S. only, as I'm new at this

I opened a little tin of Terre de Feu cartridges and learned that I like this ink a lot better in the paint on the tin than on paper. There are five Terre de Feus left, and I'll complete the half-dozen with one more: your choice of Rouge Caroubier, Vert Empire, Orange Indien, Rose Cyclamen, or Rouge Opera. (I think I also have Rouge Bourgogne, but my desk drawer isn't in front of me right now. If I've got it, you can certainly choose it!)

If you're interested, please PM me by 30 April; I'll do a random draw on 1 May.

Cappuccino should work. Frothy milk also helps to lubricate the nib. But it has to be made by a barista.

    • FineFinerFinest 24 Oct 8:52
No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎
    • FineFinerFinest 21 Oct 4:27
I've had a Pelikan M805 for a couple of years now and cannot get the nib to write without singing. I've worked on dozens of nibs with great success. Ny suggestion about what's going wrong? 😑

Perhaps it's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times to get that person to appear, though with @Sailor Kenshin you only have to say it twice?

I strongly recommend Kirk Speer at https://www.penrealm.com/
    • Diablo 26 Aug 21:35
@Seney724. The pen was recently disassembled and cleaned, but the nib and feed were not properly inserted into the holder. I'm in Maryland.
    • Diablo 26 Aug 21:32
@Seney724. The nib section needs to be adjusted properly.
    • Seney724 26 Aug 18:16

Hello! Is there a thread anywhere 'round here where one can post self-composed poetry? If not, would it be alright if I made one? I searched on google, but to no avail...
    • OldFatDog 26 July 19:41
I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄
    • RegDiggins 23 July 12:40
Recently was lucky enough to buy a pristine example of the CF crocodile ball with the gold plating. Then of course I faced the same problem we all have over the years ,of trying to find e refill. Fortunately I discovered one here in the U.K. I wonder if there are other sources which exist in other countries, by the way they were not cheap pen

I have a Conway Stewart Trafalgar set. It was previously owned by actor Russell Crowe and includes a letter from him. Can anyone help me with assessing its value?
    • Sailor Kenshin 15 July 17:41
There must be a couple of places here to share artworks.
    • T.D. Rabbit 15 July 12:45
Hullo! I really like making ink doodles, and I'd like to share a few. Anywhere on the site I can do so? Thanks in advance!

Just checking on a classified section and where we are with that. Many thanks. Bill
    • PAKMAN 29 June 1:57
@inky1 The software for the classified stopped working with the forum. So no we don't have a sales section anymore at FPN
    • inky1 28 June 16:49
I am not sure which is the classifieds section
    • inky1 28 June 16:46

    • dave c 25 June 19:01
Hi. Anybody ever heard about a Royal Puck Pen. Very small but good looking.
    • Eppie_Matts 23 June 19:25
Thanks! I've just ordered some #6's to experiment with.
    • Al-fresco 21 June 12:11
@Eppie_Matts Shouldn't be a problem - I've just put a Bock #6 Titanium into a La Grande Bellezza section. Went straight in without any problem.
    • Curiousone11 21 June 4:35
Any recommendations on anyone who specializes in original pen patents?
    • Eppie_Matts 20 June 1:32
Hi all - I'm new to experimenting with pens and nibs. Can I put a bock 6 on a Pineider? Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and was wondering where is the best place to sell a Montblanc ballpoint pen? Are ballpoints allowed here? It's a beautiful pen that deserves a great listing. Thanks.
    • ChrisUrbane 9 June 3:16
I havent logged in here for a while. I have moved and when I try to change my location on my profile, when I go to save it, it sais 'page not found' and that I do not have authority to change that.
