I would hope you publish some of the quotes.

Two weeks would be pretty fast. My experience from the Caribbean to the US (practically neighbors!) is in the neighborhood of three weeks...

I'm starting to think that the time a letter or package takes to reach its destination has more to do with the familiarity the postal officials have with said destination than with actual distance...

My recent experience of mail between the US and UK has been very positive - in most cases no longer than a week in either direction.

I actually extended the deadline in an earlier post from the end of the month to May 7th, i believe.. ill have to check.

and i fully planned on showcasing all of the quotes that are sent to me in Pics, then typing them all out for everyone to see.

Signature left blank per new rules...

This PIF is for a Pilot 78g with a fine nib and converter. The object of this giveaway is to encourage new users to read and contribute to the reviews area of FPN.

To be eligible, you must possess only one pen, and have posted a review about it in the reviews forum.

Reply to this post (by clicking the "Reply" button to the lower right) and add the link to your review. I will announce a randomly chosen winner on John Muir's birthday (next Sunday).

Please make sure your review includes comment on each of these categories: Appearance and Design, Nib and Performance, Filling System, and Value.

Please note that to keep my shipping cost down this PIF is only open to residents of the United States. Thank you for your understanding.

Today is the birthday of John Muir, so today the PIF is closed.

Since there was only one entry, the randomizer had no easy task.

The winner of this PIF is iLovPieNCake

Send me a PM with your mailing address and I will send you your new pen. By the way, welcome to FPN and thanks for that great review.

For the rest of you, since this is John Muir's birthday, here is a brief bio of his life. My home state, California, wouldn't be half as beautiful today if it wasn't for his influence. Hats off to you, John.

Born in Scotland in 1838, John Muir immigrated to the United States

in 1849, settling in Wisconsin. Muir sought the spiritual freedom of

the natural world. As a college student Muir studied botany, of which

he later said, “This fine lesson charmed me and sent me flying to the

woods and meadows with wild enthusiasm.”

In 1868, Muir arrived in Yosemite Valley, California, which he

called “the grandest of all the special temples of nature.” During a

hiking trip through the Sierras, Muir developed theories about the

development and ecosystem of the areas. Some years later, Muir took

up the cause of preservation, eventually co-founding the Sierra Club,

an association of environmental preservationists.

Muir, an ardent believer in the national parks as “places of rest,

inspiration, and prayers,” adamantly opposed the free exploitation of

natural resources for commercial use. This position put him at odds

with conservationists who saw natural forests as sources of timber and

who wanted to conserve them for that reason.

Muir was influential in convincing President Theodore Roosevelt

that federal management and control were necessary to insure

the preservation of the national forests. Today, he is revered as an

inspiration for preservationists and his life’s work stands as a powerful

testament to the majesty and beauty of God’s creation.

And another PIF for all:

This Parker calligraphy set came up from a drawer: a medium and a broad italic nib, one nib is missing ( a 'pellet' it seems, whatever that may be). Instead there is a rollerball section. The pen (vector?) is used as a rollerball, the nibs seem to be never inked. Two cartridges, two converters. Instruction leaflet is complete, box is lightly damaged.

No conditions, just give me a good reason to pif it to you.

I'll pick a winner about next sunday.

Shipping worldwide, P&P el cheapo, have fun!

And out of the hat popped... Orca871 !

Just PM me with your details.

I just watched a great documentary about the national parks where he was featured heavily. Quite a fascinating and inspirational man!

Cali is home for me, too! Hubby loves John Muir. Ended up getting some books about him for Christmas. ^_^

The winners are oldmatekev for the IM

PMs sent.

It's here! I was starting to worry that you might think me a cad for not saying thanks.

I bought a Parker converter in anticipation, the ink is Chelpark Crimson Violet. It usually feathers like crazy but not in this pen. This is destined to be my constant companion (might change the ink though).

Thanks for the letter too, I really like the look of fine, unlined paper but I have real trouble keeping my writing straight. Do you have a secret method?

I really am touched by your generosity.

Kev.

*bump* Anyone?

Up for PIF - TEACHERS ONLY!

I've seen some teachers in this House who intend to use pens to encourage their (usually low income) college kids very now and then. Sometimes a give away, sometimes lend-a-pen. Considering not every student is FP minded, some prefer rollerball, some biro: here I go.

Available for PIF: two sets of 1 FP, 2 biro's, 1 rollerball, Parker 25, stainless steel. Plus a once matte white roller ball if you want, but that is voluntary. All in working order but without refills (roller ball refills are still available, these are not the fibre tip versions). The matte white finish is damaged. None of these pens is in a pristine or mint condition, all have been used, but they work fine.

Conditions:

- Teachers only (I won't mind if someone claims for a teacher)

- Show me the class - photo, drawing, anything goes, but please no midnight serenades ;)

- Tell me what makes this class special - or even better, let them tell me.

Drawing the winners two weeks from now, so plenty of time to make pictures of the Class of '13.

Shipping worldwide, but P&P el cheapo as usual.

And the winner is...

Lucky #6, Seiry!

Thanks for entering everyone. Hopefully I'll have some more items to gift soon.

I haven't gotten many entrants so I thought I would bump this to the new page.

New PIF

My last PIF is well on its way to a new home, so I thought It'd be time to start another little one. This time I'll be giving away one Pilot 78G Broad stub in red.

http://static1.jetpens.com/images/a/000/028/28606.jpg

Its a great little pen with a lovely smooth nib that is probably closer to a cursive italic than a stub. Its very lightweight, and great for long writing sessions.

Along with the pen I'll send one of Pilot's squeeze converters and/or a cartridge if you're the type who prefers to refill those, and you can also choose three ink samples from my collection.

Since this package will be quite light I believe I can (for the first time) open this PIF up worldwide.

Rules

- If you've won a pen PIF from me in the past, please let others have a chance to win.

- If you could easily afford or source this pen it would be nice to let some who cannot have a chance to win it.

To enter - PM me with your location, approximate is fine. I'm not looking for any particular location, there's no right or wrong response, I just want to see how far FPN reaches! I'll keep this open until next Monday the 22nd, and will use Random.org to choose the winner.

It can be different for each person doing their PiF, but the vast majority don't ask for any recompense in the way of postage or anything. Sometimes, the person PiF'ing will ask for some help in order to open the PiF to anyone in the world, due to international postage costs, but that isn't too often. All the requirements for each PiF will be in the post offering it, btw.

TAKEN : SIX DIAMINE INTERNATIONAL SHORT CARTRIDGES

SHIP TO : WORLDWIDE

I have a ziplock bag containing the following International Short Cartridges which DIAMINE have included in my most recent order. The bag contains...

2x Ancient Copper

2x Prussian Blue

2x Oxblood

The cartridges are unlabelled so you will have to employ a bit of logic and possibly a Magic 8-Ball to work out which is which.

I will ship this worldwide so if those of you in far-flung places would like to try some good British ink, please PM me and I will notify the lucky owner in a few hours subject to interest.

EDIT : The Diamine cartridges are now taken and I will write to each of the interested folks who replied in a moment. Cheers.

Hey, thanks for the idea, DanielCoffey!

Offer: Six J. Herbin international short cartridges

Will ship to: U.S. only, as I'm new at this

I opened a little tin of Terre de Feu cartridges and learned that I like this ink a lot better in the paint on the tin than on paper. There are five Terre de Feus left, and I'll complete the half-dozen with one more: your choice of Rouge Caroubier, Vert Empire, Orange Indien, Rose Cyclamen, or Rouge Opera. (I think I also have Rouge Bourgogne, but my desk drawer isn't in front of me right now. If I've got it, you can certainly choose it!)

If you're interested, please PM me by 30 April; I'll do a random draw on 1 May.
