Pay It Forward 2013

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry about the delay...we had a death in the family and this has taken us out of town; among other things, as I am sure you can imagine. I plan to draw a winner very soon for my first PIF; a homemade pen holder and reply to the two PIFs I have won over the last few months. I just wanted to let you know there is a reason for my absence. Thank you for your understanding.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Having been there not long ago, I can understand that other things take over...

I had 8 entries for the Pink-flowered white pen from Online. The drawing came up with #2, who is ... loveyounadal!

PM me with your name and address information, and I'll send it out on Friday when I don't have to go to class.

Thank you to everyone who entered! I wish I could give it to all of you...

Dark. That's all he could see through the haze of exhaustion and too many glasses of Pinot Grigio. He was convinced there were other things out there - stars, traffic maybe, even the ocean. But, he was on holidays and none of that mattered. All that mattered was that his kids were asleep in the bedroom, more family was joining him in the next 24 hours, and this was the best holiday on which he'd ever been.

Ok, I am approximately 3200 miles away from my pens, so it seems like a good time to give one away. I have been the recipient of a ton of generousity on this forum and, being on holidays, am in a dang good mood.

But, I am totally ripping off John Metta's idea. I want mail. In fact, I want you to handwrite me a short story - 6 words or 6000, I don't care. I love stories, and I want to read yours. Fiction, non-fiction, mystery, I don't care, honestly. I want to read your stories, and to encourage this, I'll give you a pen. This pen:

Pic one

Pic two

Hopefully those work. It is a fine, wet Guider Acrylic (with a press-bar filler). I have used it a couple times, blue inks both times, so the sac is stained purple (because that makes total sense). I'll make sure the rest of it is cleaned, shined, and as pretty as it was when I got it...which was very pretty.

If you'd like to be entered, please PM me. I'll give you my address, to which you can send your story. I will draw on April 1, 2013 from all the mail I have actually received, so don't delay.

And the winner is... ... ...

swanjun

with a short story about Eugene, a desperate armadillo fighting with his boots and wishing for something different for his life.

Well done, and thanks to all who entered. I received some great stories! Bald men on Mars, a bad decision regarding Burger King, a marathon race, an expose on the use of fountain pens, a young man's adventure in even just leaving the house...lots of fun!

My Pen Wraps are for sale in my Etsy shop

Right, I'm knocking this one back up to the top as there's about a calendar month left for anyone interested to get their entry in the mail.

I don't have a huge number of pens so giving one of them away wasn't really an option. I also don't have lots of money but I did have a little time to spare and the materials to create this.

It's a hand-sewn pen wrap, made specifically to give away, so I hope plenty of people will like it enough to throw their hats into the ring. Here are a few photos:

As you can see it has five slots, each of which can accommodate a decent-sized pen (the pens pictured are not included, I hasten to add).

The PIF is open to anyone, anywhere, with no conditions, though quite a lot of time and effort went into making this so I hope you’ll be willing to put in a little effort of your own.

I'm following John Metta's example from earlier this year and asking people to send me a hand-written note - that can be of any length, on any scrap of paper and about anything.

Ideally I'd like to receive some mail, as all I seem to get through the letterbox these days is bills, but if you really can't afford that then please take a pic of your note and PM it to me.

If you're willing to send me something through the post, please don't forget to include your FPN username, otherwise I won't be able to add you into the draw. Please PM me and I’ll provide my address.

There's been a pretty good response so far but I'm greedy and would like more mail. I've set quite a long deadline on this so there's a chance for additional overseas entries to reach me. The draw will take place on Sunday, 4 May, giving you just over four weeks which should still be enough time. Anyone who sends an ebtry but doesn't receive a PM confirming its arrival should let me know by the closing date.

All entries will go into a sack and the winner will be picked by my 21-month-old son, so you can rest assured it will be a totally random (and probably somewhat untidy) process.

Craig.

I'm not at home this week but I will post this PIF anyway.

Parker Reflex Black with Medium nib.

Suitable pen for a beginner.

Usual rules - no previous winners (unless applying for another), those with 1-2 pens or none!! :bunny01:

Giving this a bump and reminding you all that this PIF is still available.

fpn_1360539540__31ngabqn9ml.jpg

I will draw this on Sunday 24th.

It is my younger daughter's Birthday today so in honour of this I will draw 3 winners for this PIF!!

So the winners are Bazin, K.Power and unvoleurderoses. Please PM me your addresses.

One of these Reflexes is Green so if you'd like green please let me know!!

No response from K.Power? If they don't reply by tomorrow I'll re-draw!!

Still no response from K.Power so I am re-drawing.

The winner is gbee!! Please PM me your address.

(If K.Power does make contact I will sort something out)

I received a surprise today. And what a surprise as I've been down with a flu for couple of days and it happens to be my birthday on Sunday. My dear friend Josh (Bazin) had won a pretty green fountain pen for me! Yay :)

I used to write with a fountain pen. Despite of the fact that it was a cheap and crappy one I loved to write with it and now trying out my new beautiful fountain pen made me wonder why on earth I ever stopped writing with one. So, now I'm going to learn it all over again. And thank you so much for the nice hand-written letter too.

You really made my day! Oh and belated congrats to your daughter on her birthday :)

Wanted to come back and share my thank you note with you all. I was the recipient of an Inky PIF which I am still enjoying a lot. My thank you note was written with some of the ink colors.

Thanks Daniel! I will be PIFing soon. Trying to get something together.

I am ECSTATIC! I will "try" to post a demo when pens arrive.....(Hey, I am so new that I can't even figure out how to post a simple reply.....For the last 2 months, since I found Fountain pens....I have been writing non-stop.....really!.....reading FPN...practicing cursive italic....surprising friends with snail mail letters. It is amazing. After a deep dark hole of loss after loss in a short couple of years....my husband, my life-savings to theft loss, my father, my job....my home....and now caring for my 89 yr old mom 24/7 and living in a place I grew up...but seems like foreign country (been away for umptee-nine years)....who would have thought Fountain pens could help bring a spark of life back. I am devouring the handwriting section....and filling journals...FILLING them....so thank you all for your enthusiasm and generosity---it is catching. I don't know if this will post...I'm quite confused about how to "Reply"....Multi-Reply, Reply??? {/quote? it is all confusing....but will click Add Reply and see if it flies...again thank you all....LeoSun....
