Ok, so, I just realized that April 1 is a holiday, as is the Friday before...so, the mail won't come until Tuesday. I have only received eight of the many who requested my address. I am extending this ONE day. I'll be drawing after the mail comes on Tuesday, April 2. If you're so inclined, you may still be able to get an entry in!

Suitable pen for a beginner.

It is my younger daughter's Birthday today so in honour of this I will draw 3 winners for this PIF!!

Dark. That's all he could see through the haze of exhaustion and too many glasses of Pinot Grigio. He was convinced there were other things out there - stars, traffic maybe, even the ocean. But, he was on holidays and none of that mattered. All that mattered was that his kids were asleep in the bedroom, more family was joining him in the next 24 hours, and this was the best holiday on which he'd ever been.

 

 

Ok, I am approximately 3200 miles away from my pens, so it seems like a good time to give one away. I have been the recipient of a ton of generousity on this forum and, being on holidays, am in a dang good mood.

 

But, I am totally ripping off John Metta's idea. I want mail. In fact, I want you to handwrite me a short story - 6 words or 6000, I don't care. I love stories, and I want to read yours. Fiction, non-fiction, mystery, I don't care, honestly. I want to read your stories, and to encourage this, I'll give you a pen. This pen:

Hopefully those work. It is a fine, wet Guider Acrylic (with a press-bar filler). I have used it a couple times, blue inks both times, so the sac is stained purple (because that makes total sense). I'll make sure the rest of it is cleaned, shined, and as pretty as it was when I got it...which was very pretty.

 

If you'd like to be entered, please PM me. I'll give you my address, to which you can send your story. I will draw on April 1, 2013 from all the mail I have actually received, so don't delay.

I accidentally picked up a second 30mL bottle of Diamine Sapphire Blue and since it will probably take me ages to get through the first one I think I'll give it away instead. While I'm at it I'll throw in an extra three ink samples.

 

To enter just PM and let me know you favorite ink color. There's no correct answer I just want to hear them all!

After winning the Sheaffer Admiral pen I have 'disqualified' myself from entering more PIF's.

 

I love looking on the forum to see who has won and what, and appreciate the generosity of those giving.

 

I've just had ACL knee surgery and a bit limited in funds and mobility, but I hope to PIF myself very soon!

I'll ship this new Lamy Joy (with F nib - I switched out the Italic nib with a F from a Safari), pack of Lamy black cartridges, and a full bottle of Rohrer and Klingner sepia ink to the 3rd person in the US who sends me a message. It's all been sitting in my desk in my office without use and I figure someone can use it.

Hi Everyone,

 

I just want to ask if this is the right place in the FPN to offer some things to swap rather than as straight give-aways, maybe the classifieds section would be more appropriate.

 

I specifically want to swap because I'm quite new to the fountain pen world, but I happen to have a few things that I want to give away (some French pen sets by Stypen actually), and I'm very keen to experience some basic pens that are hard to get hold of here in Australia, or whatever other surprises people might like to share.

 

I'm not interested in value, I only want to share. I'll add some details and pictures if someone lets me know that it's OK to do so.

Why would you feel bad about that? The joy is in the giving, not in how many people see us doing it. The person who receives your gift is grateful, or should be. But even if not, you gave something to another person and got good karma from that...

Don't feel bad, Brother, there's nothing wrong with that. I've benefited from PIFs here - and one totally out of the blue from a member here I didn't even know - but I've never listed a PIF here, even though I may if the proper pen, ink, accessory or opportunity arises. In "the real world'" however, I have given FPs and ink to several young people in hopes of starting them off on the road to writing joy.

 

The giving and receiving through this forum is important but, more importantly, it serves to encourage the spirit of generosity of the members of this great community.
