I'd like to give away this Pelikano P480 (M nib) and a matching converter (not pictured):

I'd like it to go to someone who is just beginning to use fountain pens or thinks about beginning and isn't quite convinced yet, ideally a school child.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll draw a random winner on Sunday. Good luck!

I don't qualify but that's a beauty, always love these student pens from Pelikan!

Alright, one more pen I need to let go for a reasonable price...free. The only reason I'm giving it away is that it doesn't fit my writing style (too heavy) and I have too many pens at this point. This particular pen is a Conway Stewart "Trafalgar" LE 11/500 limited edition with an 18K gold nib. This pen is absolutely stunning to look at and writes just as good with its medium nib. In flawless condition (minus box). Call me crazy but I would rather give it to a good home than sell it. Go ahead and research this pen...they are rarely for sale.

Happy New Year All!

If ever there was proof of a good heart, here it is. There is no better gift than giving, bro. Awesome awesome AWESOMELY generouls...Conway Stewart will arrive on someone's doorstep who otherwise may have never been able to own on. That's pretty special, man. I gotta say...good karma will surely meet with you down the road. Your post really made me smile. Kudos and a Happy New Year to you, sir.

To start 2013, I would like to Pay It Forward to someone, who is probably not a regular on these boards - a child still in school. My hope is that one of you knows a young writer (or is a young writer), who could benefit from such and would be willing to help me arrange a PiF, through you.

Thank you!

Edit: Please send a PM to get in touch with me

Offer closed for now. Thank you all for your submissions! Another Pay It Forward will be coming at the end of January (or sooner)!

I don't know if this is done before or if anyone would be willing to partake in this experiment. Here goes, I received a Parker Sonnet courtesy of a fellow member from the PIF thread back in 2011. It has stayed with me for nearly two years now and has been looked after quite well by me considering it is the only fountain pen I own other than a Parker Vector. I am willing to PIF that pen to anywhere in the world on behalf of any member who sends me a equally interesting pen. The reason I want to do this is to experience a different fountain pen and believe that someone else could benefit from it just like I did when I returned to FP's.

If someone is in the mood to spread karma please do contact me.

UPDATE:

ALL OF THE ITEMS BELOW HAVE BEEN SPOKEN FOR AND THE RECIPIENTS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED. THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED. Happy New Year to All!

Ive got a small handful of items that Im happy to pass on to someone who might make use of them:

A Baoer 3013 fountain pen with a black cap & green marbleized barrel. The nib looks to be a fine point in a two-tone stainless. Its a pretty substantial looking pen; a bit heavy in the hand for my taste. I got this as part of a small lot of pens, but it looks to be unused. It comes with a converter, but Ill also toss in an International cartridge to help you get started.

A Chrome Cross Century ballpoint with a Lions Club logo affixed to the clip. The pen is a US-made model in working order and very clean cosmetic condition (even the Lions Club logo is in nice shape!).

A Parker Vector rollerball pen, with advertising on the barrel and cap. The Parker imprints are hard to read due to the advertising overlay, but it looks to be a UK-made pen. This pen has been used, but has no issues that I can see. It doesnt have a refill, but refills are easy to source at most any office supply store.

A Sheaffer Targa pencil in Stainless steel, made in USA. This pencil uses .5mm lead and is also in very nice/near new condition. The eraser suggests some minor prior use.

A bottle of Diamine Twilight ink; opened, but about 90% full. I bought this a little over a year ago on the recommendation of another FPN member, but just never warmed to the color. At the end of the day, Quink Blue/Black seems to be my color, I guess.

To keep my cost of shipping down, I can only ship to CONUS. As this is free to the recipient, I would ask (honor system here) that responses come only from those who cant otherwise afford to go out and get these items on their own.

PM me if you have an interest in any or all of these items. I was originally going to suggest one to a customer, but seeing as they are all different types of items, I have no problem if someone really wants more than one item or the whole package.

Deltree, I have a Parker Sonnet and can vouch that it is a fantastic pen. I have a 1997 model with the gold nib that is in my top 10 list of all the pens I have ever used. I think you have found a great experiment and I hope someone takes you up on that offer...great way to try out new pens:)

I'd like to take you up on that, deltree, but since I've just started in FPS myself, I only have some Chinese pens and one or tow other low-priced ones. I would feel bad sending you one of those in exchange for a Parker sonnet. But I'm sure someone else has a pen that would be a better exchange candidate!

I feel like this would be a good way to start the year off right. I received a Hero 616 for free along with a different pen I won on ebay a few days ago (photos here), and frankly, I don't know that I have a use for it. It appears to have never been used. The clip is loose (spins and spins), but other than that I have no reason to believe it's not a very workable pen. The nib seems aligned, though I don't have a loupe to check for the finer points of that. I know it's not much, but would anyone be interested in it? I'll pay postage anywhere in the US. (I wish I could make it international, but am a bit strapped for cash at the moment.)

I also have a sample of Noodler's Bad Green Gator, unopened, that I bought from Goulet Pens last month. I've found a different green I'm quite happy with and don't envision myself using the sample. Same as above: I'll ship anywhere in the US.

**UPDATE** The Hero 616 is spoken for, but I still have the ink sample; PM me if interested!

Hello again all:

UPDATE: THESE TWO PROJECT PENS HAVE NOW BEEN SPOKEN FOR.

Im not sure if this is a PIF or something more properly described as help me clean out my odds & ends drawer; but heres what Ive got:

Two no-name fountain pens that would be good practice pens for someone interested in learning how to do pen repairs, but doesnt want to risk ruining a pen that might actually have some real value.

The first pen is a real beater. The nib (gold-tone stainless) looks to have been bent and re-straightened at some point and the clip was snapped off. The cap & barrel are a marbleized green/black plastic, and its a lever filler. What you have once you replace the sac is anyones guess, but thats part of the experience I suppose.

The second pen is actually in much better shape, and might not be a bad pen once you put in a new sac. Its a lever filler with a semi-hooded nib (I assume gold-tone stainless as this is not a branded pen) that mimics a Waterman Taperite (somewhat). The pen has a name imprinted on the barrel (Lillian Fuqua) and looks to be in pretty good cosmetic condition.

PM me if you are interested. To keep shipping costs in line, I can only ship to CONUS and the lucky winner will get both pens. As I suggested above, since Im offering these for free, Id like to see them go to someone who wants to learn how to do sac replacements and/or repairs.

Thanks and a Happy New Year to all!

I'd like to join! I live in the Philippines and shipping to other countries is so expensive, so I'd like to PiF to someone from my own country.

I'm willing to give away a full bottle of Noodler's Antietam and a full bottle of purple Sheaffer Skrip ink.

Interested parties may PM me. :)

If someone takes me up on the offer I will personally invite you to take part in the PIF and who knows if luck has it the Sonnet could be yours :)

I, too, like your idea a lot, but, like Harlequin, don't feel that I qualify to participate. But I would like to see this go ahead - I think we would have our first mathom of fountainpenshire. A pen that people pass on, own for a while, and give back into the community, when they are ready.

I just realized I have something else that I need to get out of my house that someone else might find useful. I have a set of four Platinum Carbon Black cartridges that I'm realizing I am never going to use (I'm just not that into black ink). From what I hear, the Carbon Black is totally waterproof and therefore great for artists who need something to use under a wash. Any starving artists out there who would like to try them out? PM me.
