Ground Hog Day Fountain Pen and Notebook Give-away!

I have three Daiso 100 page lined notebooks ( 3.5" x 5.5" ) , two Frogs and one Panda. Each will come with a Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pen, which can be turned into an eyedropper pen when you run out of ink ( see topics here on FPN on how to do that )

Each notebook and fountain pen will be given to a student ( high school or college ) in the USA: first three to message me, first to win. ( Must not have received a give-away from me previously )

Message me with your name and address, school level and area of study, and what you plan to write in this wee little notebook.

Good Luck!

Haha! those are adorable. Too bad I rarely use small notebooks.

Daiso stores ( Japanese 100 yen store ) - we have 3 or 4 in the SF Bay Area. They are in Canada, too....maybe west coast only? They are also on-line, but I never know what is available.

I've got one of these in a slightly different color.

http://static.jetpens.com/images/a/000/013/13065.jpg

It's never been inked. To tell the truth, I bought 3 of them, and 2 are in use. I never managed to get them working with the included cartridge (international standard small cartridge). With the converters, I had a weird adventure: after two days of normal operation and standing the pen nib-down in my pen cup when not in use, I took them out again after two days of not using them, and all the ink had run out of the converters and into the cap.

If I stand the pen nib-up there is no problem.

Just hazarding a guess, but you're saying you put in an international small cartridge. Doesn't it take a propriatary Pilot cartridge? Maybe it's leaking because you have the wrong cartridge in it.

It is not leaking with the cartridge (which came with it when I bought it) - then, I just have no flow, or hardly any. It's when I tried a converter that, when standing nib down for a few days unused, that the ink basically ran out. First into the cap, then, when I was writing, after I'd written maybe two sentences without mishap.

With respect to the proprietary Pilot cartridges, it seems Pilot made two versions of the Plumix, one for the European market which takes the international standard cartridges, the other wants only Pilot. My guess would be that I have a European version. But, I also tried a Pilot cartridge - I had a few lying around from my Pilot Petits. It won't even fit - you cannot get it to reach the tube that pierces the cartridge and lets ink travel to the nib.

To reiterate, the problem for PIF candidates is to figure out what to do to get flow from the pen with the cartridge - or if you want to put in a converter of your own, that's fine, and I'd want to know how you keep that one from leaking...

As a reminder, this PIF is open until tonight, 8PM Atlantic time.

Happy Birthday!

It's so cool to see you giving away pens on the day you should be receiving presents.

Having seen the generosity abound in PIF, I'd love to join in.

I will be offering up a lightly used Noodler's Ahab Demonstrator.

The pen will have been completely rinsed, and only has minor surface wear.

I'm hoping for this pen to go to someone interested in testing flex pens, preferably for the first time.

All are eligible and will be entered and randomly selected using random.org.

You may enter for other people, however only one entry will be accepted per account.

Enter via PM, a winner will be chosen Sunday the 3rd of February at 10PM EST.

CONUS only please.

17 entries so far! I'll be drawing for this tonight!

I know this is semi off topic, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALC3261!!! The sense of community and the embodiment of the PiF concept in this thread would not be even remotely the same without you here!

And now, it is my turn! I have to inform you that i don't have many fancy or expensive pens but i have to give! So! Notes about this PIF!

1. Because of my economic situation, i can ship the pen inside EU. Sorry for the rest members, i have send some things to other ppl outside EU and i cannot afford extra fees. :( .

2. Because of the pen... i would like to participate (mainly) those who are new in fountain pens, but i will accept any other who likes to collect those pens.

3. The pen is a Jinhao X750 (check the photos). I is one of my first fountain pens and i think it is time to change home. The only problem that i have is that i never had a converter with that pen, i lost it and i never bought one new, otherwise the pen works fine. I used it 1.5 month before for the last time, noς it is stored and clean. I checked it again today and i cleaned it again. I will provide a universal cartridge too.

4. I will answer @ your pms by giving you a number. I will use a "randomizer" for those numbers to do the "dirty job".

5. You can send me pms until the end of Feb.3rd.

PS: I NEED AN ADMIN TO DELETE THE PREVIOUS POST PLZ :(

The pen goes to caryshansonxx, i will "ship" it this Tuesday.

Alright, I'd like to pass on this small set of things to a student, I know it's not much, but being a student myself it is all I can spare. Apologies for the bad photo!

The fun stuff:

There is a red (not pink, like it looks in the photo!) Lamy Safari, medium nib, that comes with a blue cart and a plastic pouch, eight extra Lamy Blue carts (I found more after I took the pic), a Clairefontaine 1951 A6 notebook with a black cover, and a Dixon Ticonderoga HB pencil. All of it is new, but the Lamy packaging is a bit beat up.

The not so fun stuff:

I'm only able to post this within the UK, and please only enter if you have never had a Safari or if you have not got a fountain pen, and you are in education (anything from primary school to university). You can enter on behalf of someone else who meets these criteria, as long as you personally don't have the means to purchase these for that someone else.

To put your name in for these, please click on my profile and click "send me an email" - its easier for me to keep track of what's what that way. Don't forget to mention your FPN username, and I'd also like it if you could tell me what pen you use for your everyday writing at school or wherever.

And good luck!

ETA: I'll be leaving this open until midnight GMT on the 4th of February, and picking the winner on the 5th.

A day or so left on this, if any one else would like to put their name in! Posting worldwide, not just within the UK like it says above.

-not really now not any more-

And the pen goes to ... vp31, I have some confidence in your approach. PM me with your contact details and I will send you the pen. I am very curious to know how your idea develops and if you will have a well working pen.

To those I had to pass over: next time better luck, and thanks for joining. I wish I had a pen for everyone - but one will certainly come your way one day, and that will be the pen meant for you... Meanwhile, keep sharing, that is what makes this network such a good place to be.

Hi Alc3261,

Belated bday wishes and thank you very much for the PIF.

I had applied on behalf of a student who is inspired by seeing my usage of FP. This will be a surprise gift..:) and am sure its a great feeling for the student whose interest in FP is rewarded immediately with a wonderful pen..

Thanks again
