I have been using an identical pen for the last 5 years. Love the simple design and its wet nib. Enjoy your pen. Sonnets are really under rated and much maligned.

Sonnets are really under rated and much maligned.

Why?

Some nibs can have feed problems and some get leaks from the nib section.

Other than this, they are nice pens and are pretty reliable writers, which is what you would expect for Parker's upper range of pens.

The fine and extra fine nibs don't suffer from being too sharp so they dig into cheaper paper like some XF nibs do. The nib width is also pretty much the same for the same grade in either gold or steel nib as well.

I received a dark gray Sonnet for Christmas, it it lovely. It was a little dry and skippy at first but after some cleaning it works wonderful. What size nib is yours?

Fine nib.

Write and enjoy the process.

Fine nib.

My first new fine nib I bought for my Sonnet took a week of sitting nib down before it started feeding properly. Initially, I thought it was never going to feed properly and nearly gave up on it.

To get one that feeds properly from the start is a bonus.

Both my Parker Sonnet and Parker I.M. fountain pens feed properly from the start. I enjoy writing with them, it is not only writing, but also something like painting the paper.

By the way, I use Russian Гамма's Радуга-2 inks.
