Hi VirtuThe3rd,

WOW! Thank you! These videos are a real treat! I am especially fascinated by the writing demonstrations. I have a naginata-togi nib and enjoy studying how it is used to write kanji.

I wonder if you could answer a question for me: is it fairly common in Japan to see people using fountain pens? Or is it a rare event (as it is here in the US).

Welcome to FPN!

Naginata Cross Concord has much smoother and more useful nib than any other Sailor nibs.

What are your thoughts please comparing the Cross Concord to the Naginata Togi nib?

Hi MJ Vesuvius,

Good question! Even though there're many kinds of nibs in

Japan just for writhing kanji, I rarely see the person who

use them. But...in other words, enthusiastic FP users tend

NOT to carry them around, probably.

(Incidentally, I always carry 8 FPs for many purposes. lol)

I think the situation is the same as in your country. ^^/

Hi tenney,

If you have these 2 nibs, you can see a distinctive

difference between Cross Concord and Naginata-Togi.

Have you watched the movie (Title: All Nibs of Sailor

Fountain Pens.) yet?

Please watch from 4:30 to 4:52, and you can find the

difference. :)

I had not watched that video yet. I've only seen pictures of the nibs before.

Seeing how the Concord writes is very different than just seeing pictures of it.

Thank you.

Do you have any comments from your own experiences using the Naginata Togi compared to using the Naginata Concord?

Thank you for the latest video link above too. I would appreciate knowing the title of this video in English if possible please.

Thank you for the excellent compilation of video clips.

I just finished watching the Hakase video and I am thinking about saving for one. I would like to know what the conversation was about towards the end.

And Welcome to FPN.

Thanks for your watching the vid! Hakase's pen

is formed of different materials. He often utilizes

the horn of Dutch buffalo for a beautiful barrel and

its cap!

I do recommend his works.

Naginata-Togi is best used as general writing if you write

kanji. On the other hand, Naginata Concord produces smooth

writing at "any angle". The nib tip is bent like a bird's

beak to produce a "broad" range of strokes. Strokes are thin

when you hold the pen at high angle, and thick when the nib

is reversed. You get smooth writing at any angle. Using at

an upright angle you get sharp and fine strokes. Reverse the

nib angle to write bold strokes. In fact you have 3 nibs in

one. :)

VirtuThe3rd, I do really love Japan's culture, tradition, craftsmanship and everything related. Reading the thread and watching your youtube channel has been a pleasure for my eyes. Makes me wanna boook the first plane to anywhere in Japan, even though I do not know at all the language! I think Japan has some kind of magic.

Thank you soooooooooo much for your hearty comment.

Nothing makes me happier than to hear you say that! :)

There's no need to worry too much about how proficient

your Japanese language skills are.

If you come to Japan, you can FEEL Japanese old culture

and you'll fall in love with Japanese high quality FPs. ^^/

Hi Dillo,

Pilot Capless and Custom 74 are both popular among Japanese

fountain pen geek! Once I have ever used those two pens as

well. They were really smooth to write even though they have

F nibs. Anyway, thanks for your watching my videos. :)
