Lamy Safari 2013 Limited Edition?

It looks okay, but I wonder why my heart just doesn't give that jump when I see an Al-Star in the store, unlike what happens each time I see a Safari. Nothing about the Al-Star makes me feel the compelling urge to feel that I have got to have that pen.

Same here. I think it's the section. Its transparency is just kind of weird, stuck on the end of an aluminum body that is otherwise very pretty. I have been tempted by the purple one (and isn't there a dark red, as well?) but the section turns me away every time.

I quite like the smokey grey transparency of the section.

The dark red one was Ruby Red and there was a lighter red tending pinkish called Raspberry.

How about a transparent Safari entirely in the smokey-grey of the AL-star's grip section?

But then, what would be the best colour of clip to go with that?

Silver? Grey? Black? Orange? Red? Light blue? Yellow?

And then, silver nib or black nib?

Ah, now I'm just torturing myself by making my mind spin. Phooey! :D

I agree. A transparent (although darkly tinted) plastic section just looks off on an iridescent aluminum body. If they had made the section match the rest of the pen, then I'd be an avid Al-Star collector as well.

It's a pity, because they are indeed very affordable, and thus very easy to collect.

I got my pink and my aquamarine, I am happy! Was afraid to post until I actually had them in my hands, just in case they were actually out of stock, but they got here!

Just ordered a pair of 2012 greens from the Writing Desk, have a co-worker that I found out today loves that colour, with any luck they're still in stock, got a message about Christmas order backlog...

The pearl is...ok. Not great on its own but would look nice with pieces swapped with a darker colour, like the deep blue or hunter green I keep wishing for, but I might grab it and a regular blue and see if they'll play together. The brownish one in the pic above looks nice, too...but I'd really kill for a gold. Do wish they had metal, or at least similar-to-body-coloured transparent plastic, grips, though. Then it'd be more of a hybrid, rather than a "you just grabbed the wrong cap, didn't you?".

I've been searching online and could not find any news of when they new Lamy Safari color for 2013 will be out. Any updates?

It's usually in the April-June timeframe. I should have more info next month.

April-June? Really can't wait..... :notworthy1:

Coffee creme with a black clip would be nice.

I think the bright colours are meant to appeal to the kiddies. Maybe Lamy neefs to create an adult contmporary line of Safaris?

A glossy British Racing Green Lamy would be awesome! I still have a bottle of the Montblanc British Racing Green and they'd be a perfect match!

British racing green.... "Brilliant!" as any Brit would say. Here here to British Racing Green.

I'm kicking myself for missing the turquoise last year...my favorite colour! :headsmack: Somewhat unwilling to pay double the retail price just for a different colour... I'm trying to hold off on ordering any more ink or pens from anywhere other than eBay until I know what's coming out and if I need to add it to the collection or not!

I could go for purple! Any shade, really.

And an ice green AL-Star would be a treat, too, if anyone's listening? :puddle:

In case you are still interested, the aquamarine Safari (along the pink from 2010) is still available in the HK store Stationery Art without that much of a markup , I have purchased two Pilot 78g there and their shipping rate/time is fairly reasonable. Anyway, I managed to snap one of the last Turquoise one in the Maryland based Penboutique back in September.

You can get a Safari in aquamarine now (February 2013) at hyatts.com for $35. I just bought one. It comes with a medium nib. Shipping is expensive, just over $10 for 3-day delivery. They also have cool looking Pantone notebooks. I got one of the rainbow versions.

Rats. I bought my aquamarine off eBay for $ 49.90 plus shipping. Oh, well.

I did just win an auction for the Al-Star Ice Green. It went for $ 66.99, and shipping is free. I also bought the Al-Star Coffee for $ 63, from the same seller, and also with free shipping. They are no longer available locally.

I saw today in the 2013 catalog in the Lamy distribuitor today in my city.

And the winner is......

Fluorescent Yellow with silver clip :clap1:

Oh goodie :-/ on top of the 4 yellows with various clips and 2012 apple, the 2008 lime colour we get... Very similar again.

Variety please Lamy.

I wish they had posted that instead of letting me put it in the cart. Wretched news.

I got my coffee AL-Star, now you sent me in search of an ice green...which I found. Right now on eBay someone seems to be selling a bunch of different LEs out of the UK, though the aquamarine Safari will cost you, from them. But the ice green and the old yellow Safari (which I recently ordered from someone else, paid more) with the black clip and a few others seem to be available.

Good that you found the ice green. But now I'm interested in that seller you found. He could have the lime and the orange Safari. May I have the link, please? Thanks!
