Sapphire Is Gone, What's Your Favourite Blue Ink?

I like a lot of blues. Right now, I'm running with Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki, Noodler's Eel Blue, and Sailor Seiboku. I also really like PR DC Electric Blue if I can coax shading out of it.

Hi,

a few weeks ago, I added Tsuyu-kusa ( a beautiful deep blue) to my "collection" of Iroshizuku blues I use on my daily rotation, besides Asa.gao, Kon -peki, Tsuku-yo, Ku-yaku and Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. Waiting for the new Ama-iro. Although I loved Parker Penman Sapphire and I started this topic to emphasizes its uniqueness , I wouldn't exchange these inks with Sapphire...... although it's not fair to compare the "combined impact" of 6 inks (7 including Ama-iro probably) vs. a single one , yet so great as PPS.....

Best

Piero

Welll, unless you were the person who paid $89.88 + shipping, you just missed out on the bottle of Sapphire on eBay.

Amazing... That's the most I've ever heard of anyone paying for a bottle of ink... I'm sure the seller is jumping for joy.

\ Auctions are funny things sometimes.

The best part is that the original "Buy it now" was $65 which I thought was too high...surprised it made it that high!

I"m watching in horrified fascination.. .. the same sell just posted another bottle of Sapphire.... here we go again!

Can anyone provide some info on how the DC Supershow Blue and Liberty Elysium behave, in terms of not mucking up/clogging inside the pen? Well-behaved inks or not?

I am still trying to find my standard blue - really like Waterman Serenity Blue but I find it fades a little after drying, and loses punch/becomes too light.

Love Elysium (below), I use it in my 146 platinum and it dries pretty quick:

I would replace Parker Sapphire with Edelstein Sapphire or J Herbin Eclat de Safir :)

Or even Iroshizuku Ajisai...

Diamine Sapphire Blue is a current favorite for its wonderful color. Nice mid blue with a red glint without looking overly purple. Amazes me every time I write with it. No water resistance to speak of, but I solve that problem by keeping liquids away from my writing. :)

I agree , Diamine Sapphire blue has become my favorite ink. I'm really happy that I found it !

Does anyone think that the seller is the same person that was once offering a whole CASE/CARTON or whatever the term is, of Penman inks, some months ago, here on FPN? All four colours were listed but I forget the quantities. The question was posed whether people thought it would be viable. I seem to recall that the consensus was no. Well, maybe these are the single bottles surfacing.

I really love a simple Noodler's mix of 1 Blue + 1 Bad Belted Kingfisher, diluted entirely to 1:1. And coming out of a L2K. Delicioussss.

I really love how royal blue has a "glow" to it, but its penetration is just awful...

For ink that you can buy from a supplier today, the DC Supershow Blue is probably the closest you can get to Penman Sapphire.

Here are some of the blue inks I use frequently ....

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY
