Only if he mixes it with BayState blue. "Baystate budo"

Kinda funny you say that...Budo in Japanese is "grape". Noodler's has just such an ink!

I've used pink ink cartridges in one of my fountain pens before, and I rather like it, as a nice change from the usual black n blue you get.. I say go for it!! :P

"Is this thing on??"

+1!!!!!!

Honestly, a man uses any colour he wants! You just tell them, "I write with a fountain pen" and respect must be given.

The pen I write with, is the pen I use to sign my name.

Since I like to match my pen with ink, I might giggle a little I see a macho man using Yama Budo with the Sailor Hello Kitty (with berry pink barrel)...just a little.

I can't imagine why. I'd love to have one of these: Hello Kitty meets Mr Stoner ;)

I am an ugly hairy old man who is frequently armed and has a surly attitude, and the Hello Kitty pen has been at the top of my "deeply desired" list for a long time. I belong to specifically masculine organizations, and there are not many things that would give me greater pleasure than to sign the minute book with a Hello Kitty pen and an ink like Yama Budo.

I am really interested in Yama Budo but being partially color blind, I can't figure out if it is too feminine for a man to use away from the privacy of his own home. Will Yama Budo get me laughed at?

It's just another color. If you like the way it looks use it. If people laugh, they are just jealous that they didn't have the guts. Tell them so, smile, and laugh away their condescending looks.

Purple is effeminate?! The color of emperors, of popes, of royalty?

I don't think YB is the shade of purple of royalty, etc.

Actually it's pretty close (ish -- Diamine Syrah might be a better match). Purple (purpura) was a particular dye that was very very rare (and thus expensive) in Classical Antiquity, and it was sort of a dark purplish red colour. Roman Senators wore a stripe of it down their toga, and the Emperors started wearing a full cloth of it.

What we nowadays call purple is more of a violet.

Though of course, if someone knows better, please do correct me, I would hate to go about my life spouting false trivia... :)

It may help to explain that I don't see it as pink at all, although I am working on internet swabs, so I couldn't really say with any authority. My experience with Diamine Claret shows me that in a fine nib it is kind of pink, but in a broader wetter nib it comes out quite winy.

Too feminine? Nonsense, no such thing. Too garish for work? Possibly, and in some lines of work, probably.

Not to worry, when you come to visit, I will make sure that you too will be appropriately armed. The surly attitude is carefully calculated and acted to keep some of the more intrusive people at a distance.

I have the most overpowering urge to triple dog dare a squadron of pilots to wear Hello Kitty t-shirts under their bags and have Hello Kitty themed patches made up... :hmm1:

We know the fighter jocks will do it since nobody can see 'em up there, but side bets on getting some helo-flailers to do it and strut into downtown Kabul? :roflmho:

I wear My Little Pony t-shirts to work, so I think it's fair to say that I've given up on caring about how others perceive my level of manliness.

I think you should. They are a daring bunch, known for their attitude. However you have been beaten to it, and when they retired from the military they formed Hello Kitty airlines. The pilots and flight attendants dress in Hello Kitty wear. They have even painted their aeroplanes in Hello Kitty colours.

yay! I get to wear ugly hair and other stuff I do not yet possess. I will bring my own wooden shoes, painted pink of course with little kitty ears on the sides (dutch society is still evolving as multicultural societies should) - I'm pretty good at 'surly' but I can of course also use the clogs to kick the intruders out :meow:
