Can A Man Use Yama Budo?

If anyone dares to laugh and besmirch you in any way tell them the ink costs $1000.00 per ml and is made from wine. It's a gorgeous colour and every bit a man's domain.

Funny -- if a woman uses pink ink, she isn't taken seriously; if a man does, well that knocks people's expectations around, doesn't it? They take him more seriously. Unless they beat him up on the playground. And he kicks their butts, and then they take him seriously.

Generally, generally.

I use Yama-Budo frequently...I am a Man and honestly I couldn't care less what other people think. I am married to an Artist so maybe that has had an effect on me???

GP...I would use both except I don't really like pink ink...at least not found one yet...but I do carry and use my Pink "Breast Cancer Awareness" Passaporto daily now in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month...if I filled it with Orange ink (which I love!) would that count? :happyberet: ;)

Absolutely!! :notworthy1:

I don't think there are any "masculine" colors at all in the cultures I've lived in, only certain colors that are considered "feminine", so from where I sit, I don't see much point in women arguing that they're not considered masculine because they write with blue or black. The question about a magenta ink for a man is, OTOH, a cogent one.

You've missed my point.

No. I tried to put Yama Budo in my Pen For Men III and my hands just started to spasm and a chill went down my spine. When I dipped the snorkel tube into the ink, I experienced an excruciating pain in my forearm. X-rays later revealed that my radial bone was fractured in three different places. True story.

Men hunt. Women knot... sorry, knit. So Yama Budo is definitely a man's ink. QED.

Let's try an fpn experiment.

Men, fill your daily pen with yama budo. Use it for two months.

Let's see if your hormonal surges synchronize.

Maybe you'll need only a couple of weeks. We'll have to keep in mind traffic conditions and sporting events.

A man can use any ink he wants. As long as he keeps a gun by his side.

Kidding! It looks like fucshia to me but if you like it why not?

A friend of mine in the SCA has a t-shirt that says something like "I'm the nancy-boy cooking Laurel who hits harder than you do".

And one of the t-shirt vendors at major events has a bright pink shirt that says "Yes, I hit like a girl. Now take it like a man!"

YMMV

If I was colour blind , I suppose I would wonder about the effect of a colour - is it masculine or feminine ?

Most people have not answered the question, but a question that is in their heads.

I personally think ink is not gender related

I find that my "difference" is that I bring 5 fountain pens to work. The colour of the ink is then just another talking point.

I often wonder what they would think if they knew how much the ink, or the pens cost !!

So can a man use Yama Budo ? yes.

Go for it.

You've missed my point.

I don't even remember your post and didn't have it specifically in mind when I responded. I've seen this argument several times, and I had a comment about the vacuousness of the argument. If it's your argument, fine. If it's not your argument, fine again.

However, to address the synopsis of your point, it matters to the OP, apparently, and it makes sense to me that it matters to him. I don't hear people making fun of Sandy for pointing out the obvious truth that the way people in general perceive a handwritten communication is affected by ink color.

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

I do believe the OP's question has been answered, use any ink you want. If someone else has issues, it's their problem....

The real test is when you put pink in one pen and orange in the other and carry/use them together. :bunny01:

I think I've done this...

Diamine Pumpkin, check

De Atramentis Dianthus, close enough!

But my eyes were seeing it - I'll never see any difference again - but that, in the genderrelated context of this thread is a good thing, no?

I dipped my Mandarin Snorkel into Skrip Deluxe Blue. That's my Giants pen. I suppose I could have tried the orange Pelikano, but there's no black besides the feed. Er, I could have put black ink in either.

To the original asker, what part of Philly? Are there people who ever laugh at any ink colors? I mean, maybe they could find some colors insufficiently serious, but they don't laugh out loud, right? I also think it's a more immediate problem finding people who can read handwriting.

Are you going to go to Holt's cigar? I think if some ballpoint people ask you how much your ink costs, they might laugh or gasp.

Anybody remember when Herbin's ink scented pour homme had Poussiere de Lune as one of the colors?

To me, the answer is, no, it's a nice ink and as a woman I don't find it particularly feminine.

But I kind of agree that if you have to ask, then you'd probably be happier with something else. How about a burgundy like Diamine Syrah?

I agree with Laura N's Diamine Syrah suggestion. I would also add MB Burgundy Red.

Best

Ok, after reading over the responses I have decided that the ink is too feminine to use in my pens. I'll just use it to dye my underwear instead.
