This thread led me to contemplate the consequences of spraying this color over a combat zone. Would the combatants lay down their weapons to debate the possible sexual preference of anyone carrying an object tinted this color? Or would the fighting intensify?

I think it might violate the "dont ask, dont tell" policy.

No, that is not meant to be taken seriously.

Now I'm remembering...............

Uh-huh...

"When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick; and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

But still no sign of helmets and padding on the rugby pitch. :)

Precisely

Incidentally ( WARNING: thread drift!) why is that footballers scream and writhe in agony when their hair gets ouched while rugby players only go off when the blood is obscuring their vision?

Answer: Footballers are fashionistos who must always have immaculate coiffure.

Either that or footballers have hair of Gorgon and each hair is actually sentient, and getting whomped causes them immense amount of pain.

I generally try to ignore the question posed in the title of the thread because if it is well written it is attention-getting and free of nuances. This thread title is no exception. If you read the original post, however, you will see that the real question he is asking is significantly more nuanced. It is "I can't see the real color, so I can't answer this question for myself. Help me out. How do you think other people, people in general, perceive this color? Do you think they would consider it odd if a man were to use it for daily writing?" The precise context was left unspecified. It could be business.

Actually, the degree of contact in NFL is a lot heavier than in rugby, precisely b/c of the padding - without padding, there is no way they could tackle with that level of intensity.

Or did you mean soccer players? That's a different story - those guys use Yama Budo.

Sorry, but across the pond, there is no such thing as "American football". That's not football, that's some odd form of rugby with folks wearing armour.

There is no sport called soccer either. There is football, and then there is rugby.

It's really in rather poor taste, making so light of doomsday weapons like that.

Purple is effeminate?! The color of emperors, of popes, of royalty?

Who the heck is making up these silly "rules"? :gaah: And why do "they" think we care what "they" think?! :bunny01:

Wait, these men all wear 'dresses'.... not that there is anything wrong with it! :)

Yama Budo is the color of Spirit, etheric realms, higher esoteric learning, ancient wisdom and the deeper Mysteries of the Cosmos. Its color is associated with power, wealth, and good fortune. Considered the color of royalty, violet (purple) represents judgment, industry, and religious thought, the planet Jupiter, Thursday, the 7th (Crown) Chakra and old age. It is also associated with several astrological signs: Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces. Use Yama Budo as your focus specifically for spiritual centering and meditation, as well as expanded consciousness and cosmic awareness.

IMHO gender has no color. If it were too feminine for a man to use pinks and purples then would also be too man supine for ladies to use blue and brown. But I use all four colors. It is just coincidence that I am female and I love pinks and purples. If you see Yama Budo as a pleasant color ink then use it.
