Sometimes I think it's this one:

S. T. Dupont Vertigo

And other times I want something more restful like one of these:

Classic Pens ZJ2 Prototype, did not go into production

What? That purple Targa isn't on your list???? :)

I seem to be very partial to Classic Pens these days. For the most beautiful pen that I own, I can't make up my mind between these two, an LM1 Flame Red and a prototype ZJ2 that did not make the cut to go into production.

For the most beautiful pen that I have seen, it would be the LB4 Tahiti. I don't have my own photo of that pen so here's a link to it on the Classic Pens web site: http://classicpensinc.com/LB/LB4.htm

Bill, are you sure that was under consideration for the ZJ2?

I had thought that all of the prototypes for that model were based on the Mythos shape, not the shape shown, which was used in the LM1 and CP8 - that looks like a CP8 trial in acrylic.

I own one of the prototpe ZJ2 pens in gold - you can see a nice write up on them here: http://www.penhero.com/PenInHand/2010/PenInHandMar2010.htm

I don't think Andie has abandoned the ZJ2, it is just that the economic times aren't favourable at the moment. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it pop up again later.

Here is my ZJ2 with some vintage watches I also collect as well as in a picture comparing it is size (huge!) to a Parker 51

I'm a very vintage kind of guy, so this works for me. I have a blue one and a green one :)

However, I just bought a 1936? Sheaffer Craftsman fullsize Balance (vacufil with no white dot) like this one below, so I'm looking for parts. The one I have actually has a little bit of flex in the nib, not a nail like in the white dot models.

I would like to thank OcalaFLGuy for giving me a screaming case of what us musicians call GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome)... I want this pen. Bad. I have the perfect pen right here to use for parts too.
I'm not fickle or anything... just torn
ken

What pen is the last one -- the blue marble pen (I think it is blue -- but I'm a tad color blind...). The cap looks like a Sonnet but at the angle of the photo the nib looks hooded?

In my collection -- a set (fp, pencil, rb) from the 1990's: Parker Duofold Centennial (the fp of course!) burgundy marbled. Second is its sibling set in the blue marbled. Wish I had the third sibling -- the green marbled...

Skyppere,

I have trouble appreciating the purple pen because I'm color blind. So the purple Targa is not even close to the top of my favorites list.

Bill Spohn,

I just went back over my correspondence with Andy and it looks like I misread a message from him. It appears that you are correct that my pen is not a ZJ2 prototype. Andy is working on a series of engraved plastic pens, of which mine was one of five different prototypes. Two of them were selected for production and Andy offered me an opportunity to acquire one of the prototypes that were not selected. I chose the one that I liked the best. It appears that he has not assigned a series name such as ZJ2 or CP8 to this new series as yet, so for now it is an Engraved Plastic Legend.

Yes, he did a bunch of different test pens using that shape (he always does) and some were very attractive - I think your pen in silver would be pretty darned nice. That's a good collector's item you have.

He also ran off a Mythos for me in a discontinued Plastic Sheaffer material, and I have an LM1 in green (another prototype) that makes a very Christmasy duo when I've used it with the standard red version, in my pocket at the same time.

The limited edition, maple wood Pilot Capless… except for the text "limited edition" it looks stellar to me.

I saw this in a corner at a London pen show and I swear I could hear harps playing in the air.

The original MB sterling Solitaire in barleycorn finish

The 149 is a classic. P actually prefer the lined pattern to the barleycorn (though I own both).

This is the gold over sterling version (vermeil).

Not THE most beautiful, but beautiful nonetheless:

Some P51 rebuilds by Torelli - with these versions I seriously could imagine to appreciate the P51 design...
