They need to resurrect a blue for you :-)

Deirdre, you have to hold the Autunno to see the beauty! Similarly the Saft Green, which I thought would be my least favourite, but is far from that!

I have a Wilde with BB transiting Paris in a FedEx bag right now! Tuesday it should be here on the other side of the world! How I wish I could afford two of everything, like YSG, but I am happy with the collection of over 20 Omas pens here!!! cloud9.gif

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

I just bought a Lucens.

Congrats on your Lucens....that's a gorgeous looking pen....have that material in the 75th Anniversary Extra Lucens and Lucens LEs...so, you should be pleased when you see it...

Like I need another pen :headsmack:

Boy, that really sums it up well....

I'm sure for many of us here at FPN....

hmm1.gifBrown...I've always regarded the Foglie d'autunno celluloid as in the green family because the lighter areas always struck me as an olive green.

Granted it's less green than even the Saft green, which is more subdued than say the Ercolessi green celluloid. Here's Saft.

Congratulations! Excellent selection, of course you need it. I would bet pens in this series will join the ranks of other sold out, sought after rarities.

Just wondering why I wasted all my money on a new furnace. :hmm1:

Great find colex.

You're wellcome

Grab one of this is a good chance for any Omas collector's.... Novelli's ask to Omas a little production of 30 pens of each celluloid, with the rare "wild" color. Omas has ended this variant of celluloid for the mass of production, they've only for few/little L.E. production at high price! :crybaby:

Not sure why you seem to see the Wild celluloid as so rare and sought after. I like it a lot (I have a current Milord in Wild), but I've never seen an inked Wild Galileo without staining issues.

Also, if I was looking at rarity value, I'd surely pick a celluloid never used in a series production (such as the lucens) over the wild.

Too many pens; too little writing.

Originals used the Bock made 18K nibs. With Marco's pen you get either an 18K or the 14K Extra Flessibile, the latter is softer. See here.

What's a "series production"?

All the celluloids used on Novelli's Ogivas have been used before on other pens, be they regular or limited edition pens. There's absolutely nothing new about the celluloids used on these Ogivas.

In terms of the Ogivas, there was only one regular production pen in celluloid, Foglie d'autunno celluloid, before Omas killed off the Ogivas. But last year there were celluloid mini Ogivas in Royal blue and black gold (the celluloid in the cap of the Extra Lucens LE, Lucens LE, and Novelli's Ogiva Lucens). The Ogiva Lucens in black gold celluloid with a transparent body is also less rare than the remaining pens; for the old Armando Simoni club commissioned an Ogiva with the transparent black Lucens body and the black/gold celluloid. If I recall correctly theirs had 3 cap rings rather than the Greek keys + 1.

-----

The black transparent Lucens celluloid I only like on faceted pens. I'm not sure I like Arco on a torpedo shape Ogiva. The bordeaux is ok. I already have two of the original Autunno Ogivas. So I guess that leaves the Wild Ogiva. It can keep my Galileos and Urbano, which I've inked and aren't stained, company. :D

Thanks for the info....I tried the Extra Flessible, but it was too flessible for me.... ;)

By "series", I mean regular, unlimited production.

Regarding the wild: I have seen quite a few with staining issues due to the white of the celluloid soaking up pigment on the section.

But I think I'll stop there... Seriously Eric, you should take things less to heart.... High blood pressure's dangerous, don'tcha know...

As I was in Rome yesterday on business trip, I visited Novelli and bought the Ogiva Autumn (No. 10/30) with F nib. What a magnificent pen!!!!!! "Brownish" green celluloid, very warm and deep colour.... many thanks to Marco for his assistance, as usual.....

I just received my 06/30 Lucens 14k EF (together with a non-facetted Burkina - can't remember the name of the LE) from Marco courtesy of Fedex.

It is astonishingly beautiful and I'm quite happy I chose it over the wild.

All in all... I'm on :cloud9:

Light colored materials can stain, some inks are more prone to staining than others. I use Herbin Perle Noire in my Galileo and Urbano, no staining. Another celluloid that's prone to staining is transparent celluloid. If the barrel is made with transparent celluloid you get the advantage of seeing it through the barrel. I've seen quite a few Extra Lucens and Lucens in black and blue with staining.

"Take things (less) to heart". You're wildly overestimating the value I place both on pens and your comments -- no pun intended.

My mistake. Perhaps I was just confused by your warm and fluffy demeanour Eric... :roflmho:

Hi Eric ,

You got my attention there with staining of the lucens.

What ink would you advise us to avoid?

Thanks.

Ernest,

A search through the ink forums and you'll find recommendations for less-likely-to-stain inks, but the usual "your mileage may vary" caveat is always in place. I tend to stick to J. Herbin and Waterman inks since I find them easy to flush and don't tend to stain.

The rub with transparent celluloid, at least on the Omas blue Lucens, is that it can sometimes "hold" traces of ink even if the barrel isn't stained. I once inked mine with Herbin Blue Nuit which I've never had a staining problem with any pen. After using it my Lucens, the barrel was darker in the area where the ink is held -- it appeared stained but it actually wasn't as I discovered.

The pen was actually leaking at the section, so I had to take it apart anyway to apply fresh section sealant to stop the leak. I was able to remove the traces of the ink from the barrel with a Q-Tip. So the barrel wasn't stained per se, just traces of the ink on the inside barrel that came off. it's probably something unavoidable, so I'd pick an ink that in tone with the pen.
