Snail Mail Writing List

I'm interested in trying this out. Never had a penpal before.

Based in Ireland and would like a penpal from somewhere far away with different experiences of culture, religion and tradition to share. I like poetry, art, music, animals, film, theatre, books etc, etc, etc. I might like too much stuff, but the world is such that there is too much that's interesting. This is no guarantee that my letters may not be dull, but hopefully they won't.

I'd be interested in a pen pal. I want to learn more about fountain pens and inks, love to write, interested in science and what I google about it. I can really come up with some interesting stuff after spending time on google with my curiosity. I have many questions. Maybe we can find the answers together! Check out my blog mindyogg.com. Thanks...

Hi all,

I've never had a pen pal, but I'm interested in trying it out. I'm 27, and I live in Boston with my husband. I'm interested in coding (mostly Python), graphic design, knitting, Arduinos, wearable electronics, calligraphy, judo, and parkour. I'm not at all interested in history or politics - I've tried to like them, but my brain just kind of shuts down.

I have a small parrot named Isaac who gets into as much trouble as any dog, and a guinea pig named Marie, who honestly doesn't do much. I was able to speak German decently during college, but I've lost a lot of it - I'd love to pick it back up. I'm also trying to teach myself Spanish.

PM me if you're interested!

I would LOVE to give this a go.

Name: Jesse Otten

I am currently 33 years old and live in Denver Colorado USA. I have a 7 year old son and 2 step daughters, 16 and 10. I have been married and divorced and now living with my girlfriend of 4 years. I have recently gotten into fountain pens and have very quickly been sucked in. I own 10 pens and have an ever growing selection of inks, most from Japan.

I am a software QA engineer and have been for for about 6 years. I know and work with technology and mobile devices daily and I think this is where my new found love of fountain pens come from. Before becoming a tech professional I worked in all sorts of careers. I was a truck driver, butcher, US Army reservist, concrete worker, and even a welder. I love all things geeky/nerdy and am most interested in all things and cultures around the world.

Interests include just about everything except for Religion and politics. Math, Science, Philosophy, cooking, art, books, music, and a ton more. Honestly if there is something you feel like talking about I would be happy to discuss it.

Please PM me if you would like to exchange information. :D

I am interested. I am a 55, soon to be 56 year old woman. I am prematurely retired. I have a companion who is a tiny budgie Parakeet named Shaka; Shaka does not write or like fountain pens, or laptops. I love to write, I am a constant journal writer, used to be a poet in my former life. Also, used to be a librarian, school librarian, Substitute teacher and finally a part time receptionist before calling it a wrap; enjoying mostly the blessing of turning lemons into lemonade and declaring myself retired. I am trying to redevelop interest in walking for exercise. Rediscovering my love for reading.

Right now, my interest is in learning more about journal writing in general, therapeutic journal writing, also memoir writing. I also do a little Huffington Post-social media posting, but I do not think I am interested in writing about politics or religion. I am spiritual. I also like collecting quotes, affirmations. I live in my Truth and believe in authenticity.

Beyond all of that I am pretty much open. My latest craze is in Iroshizuku inks. I have both 15ml bottles and sample inks and would love to have a better reason to use them other than writing in my journal or writing to people known just because I love writing; they don't share my passion. I would love to send and receive letters, I also would like to send cards sometimes also with writing inside. I love stationary. I would love to write letters with someone, perhaps another writer, poet, someone who writes, doesn't have to be poetry genre. If a fellow poet, perhaps we can also exchange letters with poetry of our own or those of other poets, whose work resonates with either of us. Also, tend to write like I speak, so there may be commas, periods, but mostly stream of conscious writing, so be prepared/warned.

Thank you, I have been fortunate enough to gain two more penpals recently, believe for now, I am thrilled and will not be needing anymore for now.

Like a few others it seems, I fell away from letter writing a couple of years back. to the lovely people who took the time to write to me or read my scrawlings back, I'm sorry it faded away. now I've got more free time, i'd like to start again.

If anyone would like to write to a middle aged bloke, happily married with 3 lovely kids in Northern Ireland please feel free to PM me.

Hello

I'm Carys, a nearly 16 year old girl that's growing up in the Welsh valleys. I'm currently finishing my last exams in school and particularly enjoy all things maths and science related which I hope to take into a career in engineering.

In my spare time I enjoy things fountain pen, ink and planner related along with music and going to the gym.

I'd love to find some pen pals between the age of 15-18.

Jonathan B. (jburchett)

I'm a 21 year old male and I am currently an undergraduate majoring in Biology, aspiring to become a Physical Therapist. I live in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. My fountain pen love started close to a year ago. Since then I have aquired close to 40 fountain pens, many cheap with a few mid-range. I'm trying to improve my penmanship and I enjoy writing letters. I enjoy making new acquaintances, so let's be pen pals!

Hi everyone,

My name is Marcus (rovinglunatic) I'm 30 years old.

I've lived around the Midwest USA and on the East Coast for a couple of years, but have never left the country. I have my BS in Psychology and currently work in the Human Services field. I work with the intellectual and developmental disabled community.

I think of my daily life as uninteresting, but being an introvert like to look within myself for excitement. I enjoy reading fantasy novels and dystopian literature, but my reading interests come in waves (I'm currently in a lull).

I've always liked office supplies and have discovered it has "greased the skids" for a fountain pen affinity. I have a couple of nice pens so far, samples of different inks, and have slapped together my own stationary. I've written to people in my family, hoping to start a written dialogue, but have been unsuccessful so far. I'm looking to improve my penmanship and hopefully gaining fresh perspectives from people in other places.

Let me know if you're interested in starting a conversation.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone! I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring again. I've always loved corresponding, but most of my pen pals have faded away and stopped responding to me over the years... :(

I've recently been bitten by the fountain pen bug again after seeing a huge lot for sale from the estate of a collector and I've been going through my collection and inking some old favorites that I'm itching to use again. :)

So, a little about myself... I am a 28 years old male and happily taken by my girlfriend of 6 and a half years. I am not religious, though I am open-minded and very tolerant of others' views. I can get along with nearly anyone. I am a car enthusiast, though I am not brand loyal and I always enjoy talking about cars. I'm also, obviously, a big fan of pens and writing instruments, both modern and vintage, and have been collecting for a little over 6 years now. I love birds (and most animals, for that matter) and I have 2 cockatiels along with a somewhat annoying persian/russian blue cat that has been forcedly (is that even a word?) adopted to me. I had a Siamese cat for 19 years that was the the most wonderful cat I could imagine, so perhaps I'm a bit jaded about my new "friend" :) I've also been playing and collecting video games for as long as I can remember, though I do not seem to have as much time to play them these days... as much as I'd like to, at least. I do also watch quite a bit of TV, and while I'm not a huge fan of most sports, I do love watching basketball. Send me a PM if you're interested!

Thanks,

Derek

Cats adopt us. Therefore I think you mean: "a cat that has forcibly adopted me". :P

Hello!

My name is Kevin and I'd also like a penpal. A quick bio:

I'm 28 years old and have returned to school to study International Affairs in DC. I love traveling, learning about different languages, and looking at the stars. My native language is English, but I also speak French fairly well. I'd be open to having an exchange with anyone, but would be especially interested in speakers of French, Spanish, Farsi or perhaps Mandarin. I don't speak Farsi or Mandarin, but would like to learn.

Send me a message if you're interested!

Hi! I have already acquired two penpals through this thread, but would love another couple or so. I'm 35 years old, female, working as a lecturer and researcher at a university in a smallish (depending on your perspective I suppose) town in Sweden. I am originally from Stockholm, though. My area is medical science, but I also have an old degree in Classics. My hobbies are numerous and vary wildly - birdwatching, reading fiction, cooking/baking (vegan), opera, being outdoors...and fountain pens, of course, though I'm very new to them. Send me a PM if you want to help me give my pens some exercise!
