I would be very interested in the snail mail group. I am young guy who love the simplicity of the old way of doing things and snail mail fits that bill perfectly!

Hey, y'all! New to FPN.

I live in Massachusetts but grew up in North Carolina and have lived all over the US and enjoy writing letters. I am 62, live alone, and work with developmentally disabled adults. I love tramping through the woods watching the seasons change and looking for wildlife. Have long had companion dogs to walk with me but do not have any at the moment. Have many varied interest in books and learning from the internet, anthropology, black smithing, leather work, and more recently fountain pens. My interest in pens at this point is in using them more than collecting, but you never know when the bug might bite me!

I have a nice new pen pal in the UK and will also respond to additional letters. If interested, please PM me.

Yep, I'm in! Interested in literature, movies, and music (big bossa nova fan). I have a 7 yr old son and a Dutch husband who is a funeral director. And 2 Puddin' Jacks and 2 English Bulldogs.

Just finished a Stephen Hunt novel on JFK, and a history of the Templars. Oh, And am working through short stories of Flannery O'Connor.

Also interested in history, and Jewish Mussar practice.

Paper and pens are ready to fire some letters off! And some really amazing stamps.

Hola!

I'm in my twenties, originally from a tiny island state in Southeast Asia, but have lived in China and the UK, and am now in the US. Ergo, probably a third culture kid of some sort.

Quiero practicar Español, y puedo escribir a ti en Ingles o China! I would like to practice Spanish with someone. I can write in English and/or Chinese to you.

I'm interested in natural history (with a strange fascination with insects and spiders), arthouse cinema, literature and poetry.

If anyone would like to exchange slow letters and postcards, and have my handwriting inflicted upon them, PM me. :)

Hi! My name is Alex and I live in Georgia, on the United States. I am a happily engaged 22 year old looking for some pen pals to write with. There's just something about paper and pen as a medium -- holding the same something someone thousands of miles penned.

My interests are fountain pens and ink, traveling abroad, and that other bohemian kinda stuff; ironically, I'm a computer science major in college, minoring in mathematics -- I love technology, but we have a complicated relationship to say the least. My interests in that matter is pretty much everything l inkling technology and the theories and systems behind computation -- if the question asks something similar to "what is artificial intelligence," or "how can we make this parser more efficient," then the question is right down my alley.

A little bit about me... Well, I haven't had a pen pal in over a decade now, and I have very fond memories of whipping out my schaeffer and drafting gorgeous memorandums of life, but those days may be one now, lost in the war to adulthood. I'm a homeschooled student, have been since the beginning of the third grade. I've lived all over the world, but those stories are to be told only in inky dreams.

I've had a little bit of a rough life growing up, as have most of us. Those, too, are journies reserved for an inky dream.

I've recently gotten back into an old artform that I thought I would never experience again. I've gotten a new fountain pen, some new paper, and an ink bottle full champing at the bit for storytelling.

My Hand may be a bit rusty, but it's eager to come out Of retirement, too.

I love writing people letters and will even send someone trinkets and stuff of the sort. I haven't had a pen pal in years. I am eager for the anticipation of a new letter.

Send me a pm and let me know a little about you. I'm eager to write.

-- Alex

My name is Chris, or at least that's what I go by.

I've always been interested in stationery (notebooks and pens), although they've never been fine stationery per se. Then, not so long ago, someone gave me a Cross Aventura as a gift, and I was hooked. I stumbled upon FPN while looking for converters to go along with my pen, and I must say what a ride it's been :D

My interests are vast, although sometimes short lived.

My stable interests include

fountain pens (among other stationery)

books (fantasy novels are my thing, but I diverge time to time)

TV shows (ugh. too many to name, but Sherlock currently reigns supreme over the list of TV shows I like)

movies (thriller/action/comedy/drama, more or less in that order of decreasing interest)

games (haven't had much time to play these days. mainly RPG/RTS/MOBA)

As much as I hate to admit, the following are probably passing interests.

harmonica, boxing, astroNOMY (i.e. study of celestial objects), squids/octopuses, ASL, and cooking.

I'm not sure how often I would be able to write, but I would rather have a slow, but steady exchange than a flurry of one followed by a silent period. I'd prefer to keep it in North American to start, to keep the transit time to a minimum, but if you're interested, by all means contact me anyhow.

Thanks!

Thought of updating my biography, the last one wasn't as detailed.

I am a 38 year old male, living in Athens, Greece. Yes, the nation that is causing all sorts of trouble in Europe. I am experiencing all the measures the banks are taking against the Greek citizen, although with a light heart and looking ahead!

I like science fiction, I read when I can and travel a lot for business. My work involves mainly the computer and I have taken up fountain pens lately as something traditional which I really miss. I also love espresso and although I am not a zealot, I am interested in the ways of Christian Orthodox faith.

I have 4 kids, a pitbull puppy and no cats (for the time being). I like running, mountain biking and I used to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the past. I am also interested in traditional shaving and make my own soaps!

I have already sent a couple of requests to previous posters, but by all means, please message me if you would like to correspond!

Writing one of these is a lot harder than I thought it'd be!

I am a 39-year-old female living in Florida. I've been happily married for fifteen years, and though we have no children, we do have four kitties to take care of. (We did have five, but one very beloved member of our feline family passed away in October due to complications of chronic renal failure. I miss him like crazy.) I have a master's degree in Piano Pedagogy, but got burnt out on teaching a few years ago. At present, I'm an "operations analyst," which basically means that me and Microsoft Excel are BFFs.

In addition to fountain pens, my hobbies include reading and reviewing mysteries and manga (Japanese comic books); watching mystery, sci-fi, and supernatural TV shows (Orphan Black, Veronica Mars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Sherlock are particular favorites); and listening to music (especially British) from the late '60s and early '70s, like The Beatles, Harry Nilsson, The Kinks, David Bowie, and T. Rex. (I like many more besides!)

I'm rational, liberal, self-deprecating, open-minded, and agnostic. I don't consider myself a terribly girly person, but I do love some girly things, like nail polish (I change mine thrice weekly!) and pink ink. I passionately love ink in general, actually, and have a wide variety of both vintage and modern inks, including a couple dozen from Japan, so letters from me are pretty much guaranteed to be colorful. I'm also interested in history, architecture, and cooking, even though I'm not particularly well versed in any of these. I write back quickly and frequently use cute envelopes I've made from scrapbook paper.

Please send a PM if interested in strking up a correspondence!

Wow. There are NOT a lot of non-prisoner-related penpal sites out there. Go figure.

I'm 32, female, and a really, really, disgustingly reliable correspondence partner. Normally, that and a subway token will get me on the subway. But maybe it'll come in handy here. :) I'd like to swap letters with someone in the United States.

I work as an editor, translating what engineers write into English. My heart really belongs in suicide prevention, though - I've been volunteering on a hotline for a long time. I own two rescue dogs (one is blind), I like cheap red wine, and I'm intensely organized. No kids, never married. My coworkers mostly know me for my high heels. I'm pretty sure it's more admiration than jealousy, but I work with two dozen men with no social skills. I never really know what to expect.

If you want to swap letters, please PM me with your address and a little bit about yourself. I'm really looking forward to it!

Hi, just a tiny snippet about me:

I'm a 20 year old student from the UK studying for Biological Sciences degree. My main interest is in

Neurobiology and Neuropharmacology, in particular the treatment and prevention of neurodegenerative

disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.

My other interests include politics. I am a staunch social libertarian and campaign for equal rights for

women, along with campaigning for the living wage to be introduced in all sectors. I am also a member of

Greenpeace, and spend time camapigning with them also. I'm a casual gamer, and play mostly action games,

though i also play FPS and grand strategy games on occasion.

My interest in fountain pens started quite recently, when a friend suggested that i try one out.

Eventually i caved, and bought a cheap Parker Jotter. At the time I thought it was great, and this led to

me obtaining several pens over the past few months, including a Lamy Safari, a Pilot Metropolitan, and

most recently a Waterman Hemisphere. I have also aquired a number of inks, mostly J. Herbin over the past

few months.

If you're interested in writing to me, just drop me a PM!

Hello everyone,

I am on a freshman year nursing degree. This year, I'm going to turned 20 in July this year. As for the hobbies it beyond the biological-medical (of things about fountain pens probably I need not mention) would be a drawing (part of my inky-pen project can be seen here or here) and painting, reading books. As for the artistic themes I tested it in practice, virtually every popular painting and drawing technique. Currently, the most I like to use pen and pencils sometimes also I use oil paints. As for the "Great Art" I like paintings created by the impressionists. In terms of the modern art, I like the work of Zbigniew Beksiński which is associated with the books that I read. I read mostly fantasy novels like these which have been written by A. Sapkowski, J. R.R Tolkien or J. Dukaj.

Not looking for a pen pal right now, but just jumping in here to say how cool it is that there are several 20-somethings and a 16 year old posting on this forum. Most people around me of this age (I am a college professor) don't care to write with ANY instrument other than their texting finger.

Greetings,

I figure I'd look for more penpals out of curiosity and boredom. Currently still a student in NYC and studying business. My hobbies include reading books, the internet, video games (although I play less often now), Sherlock (all variations), my cat, collecting stationery, interactive fiction, and fountain pens. I can write the first letter or vice versa :]

Welcome to anyone in US and/or International pen pals too. Just send a PM if interested. Thanks.

Hey, what's up! I'm Hal and I'm 21 years old. I just recently got into fountain pens, and I think it'd be absolutely great to have a pen pal. Now, I'm just starting out, so I don't have any nice stationary and my penmanship isn't beautiful. But I would love to be able to write someone a letter who can see me grow as a fountain pen user. A fountain pen mentor, I guess?

I love movies and music. I have a puppy who will be a year old in March, her name is Chaka. And I have a cat who will be 5 years old in October. I love my pets very, very much.

I'm currently in school studying Radiology, although right now I'm just taking Anatomy courses.

I love to read, mostly science fiction stuff. I think all kinds of aliens, supernatural, paranormal stuff is super dope. Usually you can find me reading a Stephen King novel, but I'm currently reading the Ender's Game series. When I finish that, I hope to read the Game of Thrones books.

anyway, I'm open to anything and anyone, so message me if you'd like!

Thanks for reading.

Me too please.

I had the misfortune, that turned fortuitous....to have my best friend move away to England when I was 10. We swore to become lifelong pen pals and it was really exciting to find a letter in the mail from my old pal with tales of a strange new world. Alas, now that we are all grown up and mothers, with Facebook accounts, we don't really have a reason to write, though I did send her a short note this year for her 50th birthday that made her cry!

I look for any excuse to use my growing collection of pens and ink and to write a letter to someone that will allow me the pleasure of learning new things and sharing interesting tidbits about my own life would be a great bonus.

A teaser, then, about myself - I live in Northern California, I work for an international software development company....i almost guarantee you use our software ;-) I love to cook, drink good wine, garden, hang out with my cats, and hike the hills with my dog. I live to travel and took my kids on a European tour this summer for a month where i purchased my first fountain pen in Florence...he called it a penna stilographica...how romantic! It has now become a minor obsession.

It doesn't matter where you live or how old you are....there is always something to learn about someone else's life, so if you are interested, please do PM me and let's get writing!!
