Hello,

I too would like someone to exchange letters with, and perhaps if I'm fortunate, develop a permanent friendship with you. I've not had a pen-pal since probably the bicentennial of 1976. Our school class wrote to other children in celebration of our 200th year as a nation. Since then, I've only written letters to family members when I was living abroad. After email became prevalent, handwritten letters among family became a thing of the past.

Personally, I'm 48, and happily married. I watch very little television, instead, I prefer to read or do practically anything else.

Additionally, I've attended university (back when assignments were prepared with either black ink or typewriter). I prefer a fountain pen to a Bic pen. A real book that I can dog-ear the pages as opposed to an E-reader and proper grammar and spelling in lieu of text speak. I'm generally well read and would be happy to write to you in depth on almost any subject barring politics. I'm not a fan of my nation's divisive political climate nor of her politicians. I'm of the current opinion that if a politicians lips are moving. . . they're lying. As Ronald Reagan once said, "In some dim beginning, man created the institution of government as a convenience for himself. And, ever since that time, government has been doing its best to become an inconvenience."

So, if you're interested in writing letters with someone in Florida, send me a private message and we can exchange addresses.

Thank you for your time.

Count me in.

Live at Fort Riley, KS but originally from Texas - all over Texas. I'm an Army Chaplain and about to me a medically retired wounded warrior as my nerves degenerate. I'm taking up hand tool woodworking to replace some of the things I can't do anymore. What I can still do that I've enjoyed in the past are photography, working on cars, and balsa wood airplanes. I've been married for 14 years and have a couple of sons.

To all of my dear neglected pen pals I apologize most sincerely. I have been working hard on gaining a PhD in procrastination. I don't recall doing anything useful since May. I am getting back in the loop right now and I'll be writing to everybody very soon. Please accept my most abject apologies.

Ha! I expect to receive my PhD in Unproductiveness any day now... Strange how life can get in the way, for better or worse, and prevent one (well, me) from just sitting down and writing a letter.

So sorry!

Hello, snail mailers! I should admit right off the bat that this is an odd time for me to be posting here, because I'm moving in three weeks (from Budapest to Barcelona) and don't yet know what my new address will be. So I guess I'll have to write first.

I started getting into fountain pens and ink in the past few months, but still find that I don't write as much as I would like. I thought finding some pen pals would be a cool way to both write more AND "meet" some new folks around the world.

So, a little about me. I'm 30, from the U.S. originally. I'm currently getting a masters in global public policy through the EU's "Erasmus Mundus" program (Google it). It's a two-year program that, for me, takes place in Budapest in the first year and Barcelona in the second (hence the move). I spent last year living in South Korea teaching English, and before that I had a decade-long career in politics in the U.S., including a very brief stint as an elected official myself at the state level.

I'm a chronic traveler, as you can probably tell, and while I mostly try to go places I've never been before, I'm enormously fond of Turkey and keep returning there (will probably end up moving there at some point).

I love to eat, and cook, and eat what I cook; I'm also fiercely addicted to coffee and cafes/coffee house culture.

I'm currently trying to take my photography from spray-and-pray to something a bit more considered. I'm currently shooting film on an ancient Olympus OM-2, and I just sold off my entire Canon kit to swap to the Fujifilm X100S (and if you know what those things all mean, we have much to discuss!)

Hmm, I dunno...what else do you want to know? I have an idea - shoot me a PM and let's write about it.

Cheers folks, and happy trails!

I view studying for my PhD as a way to procrastinate on getting a job for four more years.

It's a great relief to see other procrastinators here as well! :D I love writing but a few months every summer I seem to get nothing done, of anything! A big thank you to the other procrastinators for coming forward ;D Big hugs!

That's the exact reason why I haven't posted that I would like a pen pal. I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up as I'm a horrible procrastinator. I'd hate to disappointed people!

For her 90th birthday this year, my mom got her first cell phone. But she still has no computer or internet access. So, I'm writing this on her behalf.

When she heard about my experiences with penpals around the world, she was surprised and amazed, and thought it would be a wonderful thing to do.

She would love to have some penpals from around the world too.

So she would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in having a long distance letter exchange with her.

She came to Canada from the UK in the mid 1950's, and has been married for 67 years (to the same fellow).

I'll be the initial intermediary, and look forward to relaying to her any responses of interest.

I'm a few days shy of 16. I'm a girl and I live in NY. Some of my hobbies include art, calligraphy, studying science (particularly biology), and a bit of reading. Unfortunately school doesn't allow me to attend to these hobbies, except on some weekends, which will probably be when I'll write these letters.

I love fantasy stories and mainly read books of that genre. Steinbeck is also a favorite. I have an interest in Norse mythology but I have yet to actually read up on that...

I don't watch TV believe it or not. i grew up with two people hogging it all the time.

I'm very shy in real life and mainly stick to messaging and emailing. This will probably be the first time I will send/receive letters.

If you're interested in the pens I use-

I have a Lamy Safari and a Sheaffer Calligraphy F point. I have ink of various brands (Hero, Pelikan, and Higgins), and of various colors (red, yellow, royal blue, black, and I mix my own colors). I also have speedball calligraphy nibs, along with several other drawing nibs.

Feel free to send me a message for my address. You can rant, brag about your kids, or complain about your job-I'm here to listen. :) I'm very interested in doing this!

I must sadly say I cannot have any additional penpals now. When unable to answer for the past two months due to medication i recently found myself facing a pile of 20 unanswered letters, sent 12 today and working my way through, but also answered 27 emails over the past two days so that's the stuff I never noticed before being forced to take a break. When things run smoothly you just answer what comes in and have great fun with that. Now I struggle so hard to get a jour! But I will get there :)

Hi,

My name is Myriam and I'm in my late 40's. I live in the country in North Dakota, U.S.A. I'm happily married to a sweet loving man.

I started using fountain pens some time ago and discovered FPN about 3 weeks ago. I dove straight in into this wonderful world and I've acquired 5 vintage pens since. I'm currently restoring 3 pens. I feel like I have discovered something special and I'm eager to learn more.

My other interests include photography, leather work, nature. I also like reading, but haven't had the chance to sit down and read for a few years.

I recently started learning calligraphy and would like to turn that into some kind of business one day, making cards and/or doing custom work.

I can pretty much write about everything except religion and politics. I consider these subjects dangerous ground to walk on, especially in written correspondence where things can easily be misinterpreted. Besides, life has a tendency to take itself too seriously so let's keep it lighthearted and fun. :)

Looking forward to making new penpals.

Myriam

Hello! I am looking for a penpal on behalf of one of my students. He is 12, and has strong command of English for a second language speaker, bordering on native. He has already written a letter, and needs a recipient. The contents of the letter include a brief introduction to Hong Kong, some of his interests and minecraft talk. He does not mind conversing with either gender.

If you have a child around the same 11-13 year old age range who is showing interest in snail mail correspondence, (fountain pen writing not obligatory), feel free to drop me a PM! I'm afraid I can probably only accept one applicant (if any!) at the moment, I would like to see how dedicated he is first.

Hi, I'm Ryan, 21, from Adelaide, Australia.

I have been putting off posting on here for some time now. I'm not sure why.

I am studying a combined degree of electrical and electronic engineering with physics at the local university, with a keen interest in electro-acoustics. I do however enjoy much more than that, I can turn anything into something interesting or enjoying for me.

I enjoy talking to people and trying to make them do things that they don't think they can do, or helping them to strive for better in their everyday lives.

I write scraps here and there, much of it illegible, most of it nonsensical. But I do enjoy it. My penmanship is not the greatest, but I am working towards being better.

If anyone wishes to write to me, they are more than welcome to. I enjoy reading and replying to all ideals, topics and thoughts. My schedule is very packed, so sometimes I may not write back for lengths of time, sometimes I might reply that day. But I do get back, eventually.

I also go tangential in my writing.

Ryan

Vincent M. / vrgelinas (my last name changed)

I began collecting pens a few years ago when I was working in tech support and realized that my handwriting had gone down the drain. I don't have the luxury of owning too many pens or any high-end ones, but I love the ones I have and love trading pens to try as many as possible. My hobbies include cars, music, technology, and food (I love to cook). I'm very multi-faceted!

PM me for more!

I was going to join the crowd of procrastinators in apolagizing for not writing but I was late for the meeting and missed. So I am going to write to the addresses I can find. So some are in for a letter out of the blue.

Now I would like to put my name in the hat for another pen pal or maybe two. I promise to write eventually.

I am 46 years old and live in Washington D.C.. My interests are wide and varied. I like to ride my motorcycle. I like to work on my other motorcycle, which is why it doesn't run.

I like wood work, I turn pens and make jig saw puzzles and make small projects. I like most music. It depends on my mood.

I started collecting fountain pens in the 80s and now have more than i should but cant seem to stop collecting them. They are like little jewels I can write with.

So if you are interested drop me a line.

Apologies not necessary, and accepted. I wondered what had happened to you but figured life just got busy as it does sometimes. I look forward to your letter, dear Professor of Procrastination :-)
