Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

I'm ready, I think..

Apart from the (obvious from the picture I just took, and posted) fountain pens and collecting snail figurines, I love to read, photography, philosophy, mountain biking, hiking (I own several tents and other outdoor gear) Qi Gong, yoga/stretching, singing.. I live with my boyfriend and my Italian Greyhound dog. I love and collect perfumes and I don't know what more to tell at the moment :) :) I am not the type to contact people, it's the one thing I'm a bit shy on I'm afraid, so if it sounds interesting please contact me! I always come off sounding harsher than I am, I am quite a softie

Oh what did I do now?! I edited my previous post but ended up creating a new one :headsmack: and now I can't find a way to delete this one, only edit within it, ah well.. :)

Totally count me in. I have too many ink samples to go through thanks to Ink Drop. I don't have a 'real job' -- because apparently there are 'fake jobs' out there -- so I've got more than enough time to write letters and use up these samples! (-goes and counts- 59 samples, people. That pretty much guarantees a different color with every letter. I could write a letter every week and still run into the next year.)

Drop me a line via PM.

Basic Info & Interests:

  • Based out of the far too busy city of Houston where it's "rush hour" from 12pm to 7pm.
  • Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Epidemiology, Virology, ... (NERD ALERT!)
  • Poetry and Short Story writing
  • Penmanship: Spencerian, Business, Ornamental, and Ink Drawing
  • Showing off my kitten (currently 3 months old)
  • Anything and everything about fountain pens and pointed pens
  • Music, music, music... music, um, music. (Been playing classical piano since 4, trained as an audio engineer/sound designer.) I follow the "No genre left behind" policy. Haha!

There's a lot more, but that's the core list. My penmanship isn't the best but I'm still learning the ways of the old masters. Should be interesting to see it develop over time, haha!

Four letters going out today :) I can still have some more but I'm too shy to ask anyone myself (yet) so if it seems interesting let me know :) :) :)

A quick re-post to update things. I would really like another 'writer' but from Europe this time. Including the EU area if that makes a difference. So PM if you'd like details or whatever. Still the same me though - even nearer retirement; photographer; married; beard a bit greyer and as controversial as ever. Cooking and the like haven't hurt anybody yet.

So come on, you Euro people! Trax, Palette, anyone else?

I have been considering doing this for a while and finally decided to dive in.

I am a 54 year old male, married for 30 years. Turn 55 in only a few weeks. Live in Sandy, Utah a suburb of Salt Lake City. The "big four" Wasatch Front ski resorts (Alta, Brighton, Snowbird & Solitude) are all within 30 minutes of my home. An accountant with an affection for fountain pens who is not currently working as an accountant, but in customer service. In addition to my pens, I also am into watch collecting and I am a distance runner. Distances from 5k to Marathon.

Fell free to PM me and lets exchange letters.

Hello! I've gotten into fixing my handwriting after my introduction to fountain pens and now enjoy writing a whole lot more than when I was a student. My sucess on reddit's penpal board has not been very fruitful, so I thought I'd give it a try here, where at the very least we can all geek out over pens, papers, and inks.

I'm 25, male, and work in what the BBC calls the "shadow education" industry in Hong Kong. My spare time is usually spent in photography, reading non-fiction, writing/doodling, (procrastinating over) training for half-marathons and a little bit of gaming. I've studied Physics and English, and used to play a French Horn that I now just oil once in a while, so I'm pretty much open to talking about anything, though the content of my letters tends towards a little bit of autobiography and social commentary. And the odd photo here and there. I'll be happy to answer any queries about being Asian or living in Hong Kong!

PM me if interested.

I'd like to join the fray :)

I'm a twenty year old student in PA, presently striving for a physics degree. I started as English, and it's been quite a ride thus far. I'm interested in nearly any period of history, philosophy, coffee, economics, physics and mathematics (at least what I've covered thus far), and nature. I come from a suburb of Philadelphia so I grew up in an odd mix of city folk and farmers. Given the flux of school work that I have, I'd be interested in a more relaxed, weekly sort of exchange; I can only attend school on the support of scholarship so I take my studies fairly seriously. I'm also happy to discuss books. Science fiction, fantasty, non-fiction and historical fiction are likely my four favorite genres. I also like home maintenance and repair, though I'm a relative novice at renovations. I have a few more odds and ends in my about me, but I simply enjoy conversation. One of my favorite hobbies is to go with my girlfriend and our mutual friends to diners and cafes in the area and discuss our disparate fields of study and then meet strangers to share a cup of coffee with. I've unfortunately had a very negative experience with pen pals in the past, but I'd like to give it another go. Please shoot me a PM if interested, thanks for the read.

Respectfully,

Zach

Four more letters go out in the mail tomorrow :) I must apologize in advance for the green ink smears in some. That beautiful but uncooperative ink just wouldn't dry no matter what :headsmack: I'll choose a different color next time. ;)

Great fun with these pen pals and I can always have more if anyone is interested. Interests are listed on my profile :)

Hello!

I'm looking for pen pals who'll send me letters written with beautiful inks and papers! If you have nice handwriting that's a plus too.

I am 28 years old and have a JD but am back in school working on a master's in library and information sciences.

My hobbies include knitting, a bit of cross-stitch, swimming, sailing, writing, and dabbling in a bit of photography. I drink way too much tea and collect nail polish and rotary phones, along with a small collection of fountain pens. I am a left-handed underwriter and go for purple inks especially.

I've lived in Mexico, London, and Oxford, and my favorite movies are Vertigo and a Fistful of Dollars. I'm a big fan of P.G. Wodehouse and Alice in Wonderland, and my favorite ride at Disneyland is the Haunted Mansion. This year I'm trying to read 13 novels, and February's selection is Rebecca.

I keep up with quite a few TV shows (Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, Archer, Doctor Who, Sherlock). My tastes in music range from bossa nova to opera and electronica.

If you want to exchange letters, I'm a pretty quick responder and you are liable to get a variety of stationery, including SHAG and Triomphe.

PM if you think we'd get along. :)

Hi all,

I'd be interested in trying out the letter exchange as well! I've been participating in the PostCard exchange, and have started at PostCrossing as well. I'm really enjoying receiving actual, written correspondence. I've found that I may enjoy writing letters as well, so after writing my first one in over a decade last night, I figured it'd be time to try again.

I'm 32 and live in Colorado. I've got a wonderful wife and a little daughter. I'm heavily interested in travel and enjoy visiting places around the globe, as well as here in the US. Almost all the states are checked off my list.. just a few to go. I love music, play guitar and even sing for time to time. I'm a great fan of classic literture. I enjoy art and work as a designer. I often have a camera in hand either shooting pictures or video.

So, yep... if you'd like to exchange a letter, please let me know!

Hi all,

I would love to join the letter exchange. I really enjoy writing handwritten letters. I live in San Francisco and would love to have a pen pal.

I am a 24 year old that travels at least once every two months. Apart from pens and travel, I enjoy watches, wine, whiskey (just had a Douglas Laing Old and Rare 30 Year Old St. Magdalene), aviation, boating, cars, interior design, and fine dining.

I am collecting new inks and paper all the time.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Warm regards,

~Blake

I'm awkward....I'm weird and those are on my good days. You see, I am just really excited to participate. I haven't had a letter since, a couple of decades ago.

After reading some of the bios above, I would hate for anyone who wasn't fully prepared received me as a penpal.

I love over using commas, and my spelling with out a computer is...shameful for a 31.5 year old.

My implement is either a Cross Beverly, Hero (which was a PIF), or a Platinum Preppy. The paper could be anything. I'm not against postcards, or the random sheet of construction paper. If your busy write a saying, joke, or post card,...if you have a moment write a note,...and if you just found your favorite spot in the world and its warm and sunny and you've got all day...well then honey, write me a book. For you, I'll read it; comment, laugh, and cry.

For fun I take night classes and have since decided that I am going back to school for a second degree in Accounting; my first was in Chemistry with a minor in Math... In my spare time from school; I work full time, and visit my parents on the weekends. I have recently picked up Tennis, and golf.

About a year go I was helping my parents go through some paperwork, and there were old notes from family members both past and present. As I read a letter from the woman who would have been my grandmother, if we lived at the same time. I realized that A)I may be her re-incarnated and B.) the art of letter writing is almost lost. Never will a family members read my emails with the same powerful feelings as I had. I need to fix this.

And for those of you who wanted to know... in 1952 Nan-nah (I'm sure that's the nickname she would have picked) wrote to my father about how she wanted her "big boy" to write to her more because she missed him.

So there you go...and here I am.

Sue

I know I am dating myself but this post really reminds me of the "Big Blue Marble" I had when I was a kid and I wrote to two penpals in Germany!

Anyway, I don't know where where both of them are now ... but I would really like to re-kindle this. I am a man 39 from Malaysia and my collection is a diverse mix of Mont Blancs and omases ... (namely a D-Day which is a daily writer). Besides writing I am into Open Source software programming and running plus dabbling in artsy fartsy pursuits too.

I am open to anyone writing to me. Just pm me for details.
