Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm reposting here, because I've moved house and have been through quite a crazy few months - so my snail mailing tapered off. But I'm ready to resume.

A bit about myself: I live in Malta, in the baroque city of Valletta. I am a student of theology (currently writing my BA thesis) and I'm interested in all kinds of religion, spirituality and mysticism.

I'm also fascinated by art, all media (painting, scuplture, costume) and theatre (I write plays and have performed in a few). I like most music, though my favourite is early Renaissance and Baroque stuff (and some contemporary, Southern Gothic music - odd combination I know). I enjoy listening to radio programmes and stories, and reading.

If you'd like to send me a letter just message and I'll pass on my address. Happy (early) Easter all!

The Llama is a woolly sort of fleecy hairy goat, with an indolent expression and an undulating throat; like an unsuccessful literary man.

Hello! My name is Yoon. I live in Louisiana. I'm a science fiction and fantasy writer (short stories), I majored in math, I'm Korean-American, I like to read and play games (computer games, tabletop) and sketch and compose. (You also now have enough information to identify me; there are not a lot of Korean-American sf/f writers working in English at the moment.) I got into fountain pens in the past couple years, but used to have a lot of penpals when I was a kid and I miss that experience. Feel free to message me for my address--I'd love to hear from you.

Hi everybody! I posted several weeks back about getting a pen pal-type thing going here through my shop, and we're getting ready to get it off the ground next week. If anyone else would like in, please message me your details and I'll add you to the book - these contact details are going into a notebook that won't leave the shop (or the counter for that matter), so it's not as though your information is going to be mass distributed.

I have no idea if this will be favourably received or not, but hopefully this will be something a bit fun and a chance for everyone here in Upper Michigan to make some new friends all over the world.

Thanks much!

Kevin.

PS - I'll write to you, too! 34, finishing a doctorate in humanities/urban planning, artist (if we use the term loosely) in pastel and graphite, football (soccer) fanatic (playing and watching), writer, looking forward to getting the cursive typewriter I just ordered, though I do love my pens.

Keep up with everything going on in our shop and our region! News and other stuff on our Facebook page.

Hi!

I'm new to FPN but not new to letter writing as I've had penpals for most of my life!

I'm Rachel, 34, married and mum to one lovely little girl just about to turn 1 this month. When I'm not organising her social life I'm a Special Care Dentist and also enjoy writing loooooooooong letters, playing various musical instruments, reading, ballroom dancing, acting and scrapbooking.

I'd love to meet long letter writers who think we may have something in common - or are amused by stories of my slightly crazy life! Message me if you're interested!

I would be interested in doing a pen pal thing as well. I would prefer people outside of the US as I think it would be cool to send and receive some letters off to a far away place. My wife and I are from Alaska and I have a lot of interest other than FP's. I am into the outdoors and lots of other things. If you would like to know more send me a PM.

Thanks

Greebe

Hi, my FPN name is Chi Town, short for Chicago which is where I was born and raised before moving to Albuquerque NM on a Job transfer in 1996. I almost lost my life in 2004 at work, and the following year we lost our youngest son. I used to be an avid sports fanatic, playing sports I mean. I currently have two pen pals that write about a few times each month to each other and I would like to expand on that . If your interested just drop me a line and I'll send you my address, or visa versa. Thanks and have a great evening.

Hi everybody,

this is my very first post on this forum. I'm 29 years old, married, German. My favorite topics are pens and paper (Well, duh!), books, movies, sports (especially soccer), philosophy, a little bit of photography. I'd love to get in touch with fellow fountain pen enthusiasts, preferrably from the US or the UK. Simply PM me for my address. Looking forward to getting to know you! :)

I have been a member of FPN for a little while now, and I have read the snail mail forum oodles of times. I guess it is about time that I throw my hat in the ring. I am willing to write to two to three people to start off with, and see where things go from there.

I am a 24 year old high school psychology and world geography teacher. This is my first year teaching psychology, and I am re-learning a lot of it as I go. Other than teaching, my fiance husband and my cats consume my life. I love video games, reading, knitting, crocheting and writing in my journal. As far as books go, I will read just about anything that is put in front of me.

I have not had a pen pal since I was very young. My dry-humored uncle was my pen pal for a few years when I was a child, but my handwriting was so atrocious then I used my "super-cool" typewriter my parents bought me one Christmas. My handwriting has improved a lot over the years, but I am still not the best of writers, I tend to ramble a bit without realizing it. I am a jump in and write kind of gal, and I do not do any type of draft of a letter, I just start writing and hope for the best.

As long as you are not expecting a formal letter, and don't mind an occasional scratch-out, I would love to write you a letter.

Lexie S.

I'm back and ready for more!

I have a few pen pals now, but I would like a couple more. Pen pals are like potato chips, you cannot have just one, or two, or eight... It would be especially lovely to get another pen pal from overseas, but it would also be lovely to acquire more pen pals in the States.

Nothing much has changed since this post, except that I got married. I am about to have quite a bit of spare time on my hands with summer break from work, and I always find time to write replies regardless of what time of year it is.

Send me a message if you would like to exchange letters. I am always glad to write the first letter.

Toodles :bunny01:

Finally, a place where being obsessed with pens and paper is the norm...

This snail mail thing looks interesting! I will post a little bio now, but atm I am unable to really start sending letters because of a mix of moving and exams, but in a few month or so, I'll be ready to go!

My name is sirShiggy, and I am an American living in England. I am a eagle scout and 15 years old (almost sixteen!) My interests include almost everything, because I like almost everything I try.

In that sense I am adventurous, a trait I had to develop in order to make the most of my time in England. My particular interests are: Camping, hiking, fencing (I go to a club with school), chemistry, and russian (in which I am rather proficient, and interested in a russian snail mail pal)

I have many other interests, but I guess you'll have to write to find out! I said I was adventurous, but actually, I'm a wee bit on the shy side with strangers, but not with friends! I am currently in the middle of my GCSE exams Y11, so I am kinda busy, and in June I'm moving back to America :(/:)

I am interested in an British pen pal to keep in touch with our little rock once I leave, an American pen pal to talk to when I get back, a Russian pen pal to work on my Russian (there will be mistakes in my spelling and grammar, be warned), maybe a spanish pen pal, because I'm good at spanish too, or a pen pal from just about anywhere! ( so long as we can write in english, spanish, or russian) <- actually, this isn't quite true, I'm willing to attempt to learn a new language, if my pen pal is willing to suffer through mind-numbingly simple letters! I don't mind the age of my pen pal, but somebody my age might be nice!

PM me if you're interested, I may be able to write while I'm still in England, and I certainly will try, but for a few months from June I may be slow in replying, (also depends on if my parents let me have a pen pal :o )

Shiggy

I am a 29 year old female from the US who loves writing and receiving mail. Location and gender are not an issue for me; if you want to write me, then I want to write you, so don’t hesitate to send me a letter or postcard, etc. I have a diverse range of interests, including traditional (i.e., representational) art, comics, classical music, accordions, Chinese martial arts, animation, languages, mythology, history, books, writing, fountains pens, guinea pigs and too many other things to count. I am the introspective type and look forward to corresponding with someone of a similar temperament.

This sounds so interesting. I'd love to have a pen pal who would actually appreciate the ink and paper the note is written with!

I'm a 25 year old American female, though in a few months I'll be off to the UK to get my PhD in English Studies. I got my MA in London last year and miss the UK so much that I can't wait to get back. I'm interested in many things, and would truly be interested in talking about anything. But I suppose my main interests are reading (anything and everything... though at the moment I'm leaning more towards current affairs/politics and medieval literature), writing (my dream job would be an author. My realistic goal is to be a university professor), and music/theatre (I saw a fantastic performance of "Madame Butterfly" last week. I love musicals, opera, indie, singer/songwriter, and instrumental), and I sing and I play the piano and harp.

PM me if you want to write! I'm open to any gender, age, or location.

My name is Brooklen, and I'm a university student currently studying abroad in Japan. I love speaking with and debating people on all sorts of subjects, whether or not they're thoughtful or critical. My major interests include writing, photography, reading, journaling, collecting pens of all types, languages, and drooling over stationery (Traveller's Notebooks in particular). If you write to me, you'll get a few prints out of it! I am studying to be a programmer, but my dream job would be to become an author, I absolutely love fiction.

I'd love to participate in a project like this, I love writing and communicating with people of all cultures and locales. PM me if you're interested :)

Fountain Pens: Pelikan Souverän M1000 (Green Stripes) - M, White Lamy Joy (1.5), Lime Green Lamy Safari, Lamy Vista, Yellow Lamy Safari, Dark Purple Lamy Al-Star

I own or have tested just about every non-Fountain Japanese pen in the book, if you have any questions.

This seems like a rather fitting first post to the FPN as I have been quietly reading for months now.

Name: Joe

Bio: Where to start... I'm a 31yo trained Opera singer who is working as an IT Systems Analyst in the aerospace industry. I am in a poly family with two wives and we have a wonderful 3yo son. My hobbies include reading, writing, photography, camping, mead brewing, shooting, motorcycle riding, day-dreaming about sailing, sporadic attempts at wooden model ship building, playing board games and D&D, and trying to be a good father. Hmmm, my interests aren't scattered across the board, are they? I started writing three years ago just before my son was born. When helping my in-laws move, we discovered a box of letters between my Father in law and his brother; these were a trove of family history and general history which made a large impact. As we approached my son's birth, I began pondering just what it is we leave to the next generation; a gmail password just seems to dull in comparison to the boxes of letters. At that point, I started a letter writing campaign to reach out to family and friends whom I hadn't seen, in some cases, for over a decade. The response was rather depressing: the majority of people sent an email thanking them for the letter and stating that they would get around to writing in the future. Since that point, I've been journaling as an attempt to fill this void.

I am sincerely interested in finding people interested in trying to keep up a writing project. I may end up biting off more than I can chew, as family and career demands can be overwhelming at times. However, I won't know until I take the plunge.

There you go, that may be too much information or perhaps not enough. If you are interested in writing or asking questions with a determination on writing to be a goal, please let me know!

This sounds like it would be fun! :)

My name is Angel and I'm a sixteen year old high school student from Canada. I live in the good ol' prairies and have lived here for most of my life! I'm an outgoing person and I love getting to know people! I'm big on outdoors-y activities and some of my hobbies include snowboarding, kayaking, longboarding, hiking and camping. Some other hobbies I have include: photography, collecting cameras, fountain pens (of course!), and reading.

I love traveling and learning new things so I'm really interested in having a pen pal from outside of North America! I'd also prefer someone around my age :) I would be open to doing stuff like sharing poems, stories, post cards and whatnot! Shoot me a PM if you're interested :D

Hi everyone!

Thought I would join this as I enjoy writing letters and have no one aside from my girlfriend to write them to!

I'm 23 years old and a recent college graduate with my Bachelor's degree in Business. Currently unemployed and looking for a job. I've just recently gotten into fountain pens in the past few months and would love an opportunity to use them. I maintain my own writing instruments blog: Derek's Pens and Pencils. A few things that I really enjoy are collecting (and using) writing instruments, cars & maintenance, video games, cats & birds (yes, they can get along :P), old buildings, and Japanese music/culture.

If you're interested in exchanging letters, feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks!

Derek

I thought I would re-post this as I am still looking for more penpals.

A few updates:

I currently have a job, I'm 25 now, and I do have other wonderful penpals aside from my girlfriend to write to, but I'm still looking for more. :)

Send me a PM if you are interested! I do not have any preference in terms of location/gender/etc. etc.

Derek

Hello

My name is Jesse and I am twenty-three years old. Currently I live in a small town in East Central Illinois but; I will most likely be moving soon for my job. I graduated from college almost a year ago with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and currently work for a large company in operations. Some of my hobbies include reading, listening to music, going on road trips, watching old movies (John Wayne, Mel Brooks, etc.), collecting art glass, and collecting antique tractors. The key seems to be diversity…

I used to exchange letters with a few friends in Germany however; we all seem to have gone our separate ways. There is something so nice about getting real mail via the postal system and I truly miss the experience. Hopefully I have provided enough information to spark some interest without giving everything away. After all, the goal is to exchange letters and not email correct?

I am up for exchanging mail with anyone from anywhere in the world. Please PM me if you would like to exchange letters.

Jesse_A
